Can I Be Your Anything?, chapter 10
Adrienne's heart stopped. There she was, red-handed in Billie Joe's bedroom, his personal photographs in her hands. She did what anyone that situation would: PANIC! She stuffed the photographs back where she found them, shut the drawer, and then as she was about to dart out of the room, she remembered she had shut the door. And there were approaching footsteps echoing down the hallways anyway. She was trapped. The doorknob turned.
Billie Joe threw his books down on his bed. As he shut his door, he noticed the closet was closed.
"Huh, I thought I left that open this morning," he commented to himself. He pulled his shoes off and tossed them casually to the side. He pulled his socks off and aimed them at his dirty clothes hamper. He missed as he tossed them.
"Oh well." He took his belt off...
Adrienne held her breath. Two thoughts raced through her mind. One, Billie Joe was taking his clothes off. But if he had his clothes off, he'd probably get different ones out of the closet, where she had gotten the original idea to hide. She tried to look away, but she couldn't. Billie threw his belt down on his bed. He pulled his blue, grey, and black striped shirt off over his head.
"Woah," Adrienne whispered, the slapped her hand over her mouth. He was incredibly built. Then her heart started to race, as Billie approached the closet.
"Billie! Come here now, please!" Brad yelled. Adrienne sighed as Billie walked out the door. She made sure he was safely down the hallway as she ran out of the room. Of course, her socks slid on the hardwood floor. And her perfect timing mdae her slide right into Mike as she made it to the hallway. She slammed him into the wall, and then they both fell, him on top of her. She gasped.
"You were in Billie's room?!" Mike said with halfly with awe, and the other half in a condescending manner.
"Yes..." she said. Blushing, she let Mike pull her to her feet.
"Ah, don't worry, I won't tell 'im. I ain't a snitch," he changed the subject quickly as Billie approached them. "You sure fall a lot, dontcha?"
"Yeah, she's got butterfeet, as Mom would say," Billie said, laughing. He didn't think twice about them being right in front of his door. Adrienne headed toward Mike's apartment, Billie into his room, and Mike down towards the kitchen. Adrienne touched up her make-up and hair, as she had been intending to before she had been lured into Billie's room. Mike appeared behind her in the mirror.
"I thought I'd give ya fair warnin'. Me & Billie's havin' some friends over taday," Mike said. Adrienne nodded, still applying eyeliner. Then she remembered the photographs she'd seen earlier.
"Um, hey Mike!" She called as he was heading out of the bathroom door. He turned.
"Yah?" He asked curiously.
"Um, I was lookin' through some of Billie's pictures, and there was a group photo. You know the one? You, Billie, John, and some other guys," she tried to recall the names. "Craig... Dillon?" she asked curiously, trying to restrain her emotions.
"Yeah, yeah, I know what yer talkin' about. Why?"
"Well, are some of them coming?" she asked.
"Yeah, Craig and Dillon are."
Adrienne froze. She was so incredibly close to crying.
"Dillon?" she asked. "Did you or Billie say anything about me at school today?"
"Yeah, they're comin' ta meet ya," Mike said. Adrienne's confession was delayed.
The doorbell rang.
"Yo, Mike, they're here!" Billie yelled. Mike pulled Adrienne's arm.
"C'mon!" he said. They walked up the stairs, her very reluctantly. She could here (his) voice in the distance. All she wanted to do was cry.
"Dill, where's Craiggy?" Billie asked, using ridiculous pet names.
"He'll be here later, he had to do some work for his mom," Dillon said.
"Oh, okay," Billie said.
"Speaking of work," Mike said, approaching the group, with Adrienne in tow. "I've gotta be outta here, I'll be back at seven, catcha then!" Mike said with a wave, planting Adrienne next to Billie and heading out the door. She longed to follow him, anything to be away from Dillon. Billie stood with Adrienne and Dillon.
"So Dillon, this is Adie, the chick who ran away and we took in. You know, the one I was talkin' about earlier today?" Billie said. Dillion looked at Adrienne and grinned.
"Yeah, I know her," he said. Then he turned to Adrienne grinned.
"Can you close your legs yet?" he snickered.
