Undecided, chapter 1
Maddy stared out longingly at the outside world as it sped by. She looked back down at her book. She couldn't concentrate. She had read the same paragraph one thousand times, but not a single word sunk in. She was bored out of her mind. Maddy always lost her focus when she was bored. Ten in the morning and on her third week on the road, and she was bored.
"Cough... NERD... Cough." A voice interrupet her thoughts.
Maddy smiled, and grabbed the pillow supporting her back and tossed it at Rob. Rob was her best friend, and drummer. They had met in fourth grade, and the first thing Maddy did was make fun of his full name, Roberto, and it was an instantaneous friendship. "An odd one at that" people would comment. They always took shots at eachother, and neither one took the other seriously, no matter what. Maddy loved the way Rob understood her immaturity, and not wanting to grow up.
"Good morning to you too!" said Rob ducking the pillow that went hurtaling through the air.
"Nice of you to pull your sorry ass out of bed! Is Jase still asleep?" replied Maddy referring to their fellow bandmate. Jason was one of a kind. He was funny, smart and talented. She loved him because he was an asshole. Not the superficial type, but the kind who is sweet, yet has a smart ass comment for everything, and a pickup line for every blonde.
"Oh sure! Get mad at me for sleeping in, but Jase? Oh nooo, he's an ANGEL." said Rob mockingly.
Maddy smiled mischieveously.
"So when's the gig tonight?" asked Rob, taking a sip of coffee as he took a seat beside Maddy.
"Seven, I think."
"Seven? Shit! Im goin' back to bed!" said Rob enthousiastically as he hopped up from his seat and started towards the bunks.
"Alrighty," said Maddy "See ya' later masterbater"
"In a while pedophile."
"Now," she thought to herself "Back to my book."
As time passed the scenary became more urban by the moment. As the bus approached it's destination, Maddy longed for the peaceful countryside. She loved the city, but she hated the burden placed on her shoulders everytime she entered an urbanized area.
"So much pressure" she thought to herself "of what to be... what not to be... I wanna just leave."
The bus rolled to a stop in an alley way. A stout, bald man waited outside a door. He was staring at his watch and tapping his foot.
"Great," she thought "another asshole."
She got off her seat, then walked over to the bunks and shook the guys.
"Shit Maddy! I'm trying to sleep!" Barked Jase angily as he sat up.
"Man you guys are loud!" said Rob rolling over and putting a pillow over his head.
"Come on guys, put some pants on! We're here!"
"Fine." said the guys monotonously.
"Thank you mother." said Rob in a childish voice.
"Anything for my boys!" said Maddy in a sweet motherly voice, as she leaned down and pinched his cheeks.
"Whoa! Cleavage!" exclaimed Rob.
Maddy looked down and realised she was still wearing the camisole she fell asleep in last night.
"Wow," she thought. "I've been up since 7, and I'm still not dressed... I really am losing it..." as she looked over at the clock, it read two o' clock.
While lost in her thought, Rob took the opportunity to get into the bathroom before the others. He made a run for it, bringing Maddy back to reality. Rob got in and slammed the door, while Maddy and Jase were still tripping over eachother. It was a childish game that they subjected each other too, each and every day. Maddy, and Jase could here Rob laughing at them through the bathroom door, as they struggeled to get up.
Rob walked out of the bathroom, and Maddy made a dash for it and made it in, then slammed the door, before Jase could stop her. Then she opened the door slightly, and stuck her head out.
"Awww. Hun. We gotta stop letting you in the bathroom first, you broke the mirror. AGAIN!"
A pair of pants went hurtaling throught the air. She slammed the door, before the could hit her. She slid to the floor laughing as she heard Rob call her an asshole.
"Come on Maddy! The guy's gettin pissed!" said Jase about fifteen minutes after she had gotten in the bathroom.
"One minute!" said Maddy, adding just a bit more eyeliner to her bottom lid.
Once they had all finished getting ready, one by one they came out of the bus. Maddy smirked when she saw the look on the owner's face as they sauntered into the backroom of the club.
"Your crapmobile arrived, half an hour ago! What the hell took you so long?!"
exclaimed the stout man.
"Number one, that's no crapmobile, that bus has been through everything, and still has millage, and number two, the show starts at 7, and its only two thirty, so what the hell is YOUR rush?!" said Maddy growing hot in the face. She hated rude people, albeit the fact that she had a tendancy to be one herself.
"Your check in time was half an hour ago. And if you ever want to play here again you'll be on time! Now, you can go do whatever you want, but be back at six for soundcheck, and be on time, or I'll have your asses on a platter! No one stands me up! Ok?!"
Maddy started to open her mouth, but Jase interrupted her.
"Ok, Thanks. We'll be back at six."
The man walked out, and Maddy shot him a dirty look.
"Fucking twat."
"Maddy get over it! Your such a DRAMA QUEEN." laughed Rob.
"Shut up!" she said playfully punching him.
"Oooo... VIOLENT! Some one has a rage problem..." said Jase.
She turned and punched him in the arm, then smiled inocently.
"Well, I'm off to the laundry mat." said Maddy turning and heading out of the club.
"Have fun... DIRTBAG!" yelled Jase, which was followed by laughter.
She hopped on the bus, and grabbed all the dirty clothes, even the guy's clothes. Threw them in a bag then headed out the door. It was a warm sunny day. She strolled down the street in her faded Dickie's, her hair down, and black hoodie. She soon found herself at a familiar place. "Bubbles", she had only been here a year ago, with Maria. They had sat on the washers and talked about how one day they would play clubs, and travel the country. God she missed Maria.
She walked in the door and headed towards a machine, emptied her bag and threw in some detergent. She had never seen a laundry mat so empty, she was the only one in there. She went and sat down on a ratty old chair, and picked up a magazine.
Just then, three young men walked in. All very hansome, she thought to herself.
One started to do laundry, while the other two laughed and joked around.
Billie Joe looked up from his laundry. He saw her sitting there, reading. God she was beautiful, he thought to himself.
"Earth to Billie Joe!" Mike waved a hand in his face, brining Billie Joe back to reality.
"Cough... NERD... Cough." A voice interrupet her thoughts.
