Undecided, chapter 6
Maddy's heart stopped. She was speechless. His eyes saw right through her calm and collected surface, a smirk appeared on his face.
"Couldn't go one day without me, hey?"
"I just didn't feel right, leaving without saying goodbye." She was back on her ball."You want to come in?"
Billie Joe walked in the foyier of the suite, he looked around then too Maddy, she shrugged her shoulders. They went and sat on the couch, small talk ensued. Then she turned and looked at him straight in the eyes.
"We've only known eachother for, what, two days? And we're talking like we've known each other for a life time."
"Maddy..." started Billie Joe.
Then she leaned in and kissed him. They started to make out passionately. Every breath lost to the momentMaddy wished too herself that she could slow down time and make this last forever. It just felt right.
The phone rang.
Maddy leaped up.
"Hello?" she said cheerfully into the phone.
She hung up after a couple minutes, then walked over to the door, and started to put on her ratty old hoodie.
"Who was that?" aske Billie Joe.
"The record company."
"The record compant?" he said slightly confuse.
"Uh, yeah, we got signed today..."
"To who?"
After some explanation, Maddy was able to tell Billie Joe about the man at the club, who wanted to sign them immediately and start recording ASAP. Billie Joe smiled, with a sense of pride, my girl the recording artist, he thought to himself.
She walked over, bent down and kissed him on the cheek.
"I wont be long, we just have some things to sign, you can stay here if you want, or you can go out, theres an extra key on the bedside table."
"All right," said Billie Joe.
He walked her saunter out of the hotel room. Her hotel room, no their hotel room. It felt good to refer to her as his, he thought to himself. She was beautiful, and talented, and she just didn't seem to care. When they were talking ealier, he felt he could tell her everything, he did tell her everything. Suddenly Billie Joe felt so vulnerable, why did he feel so comfortable around her? He had never felt this way about anyone before. He remembered the night before, when they had laughed on the RV floor, when was the last time he laughed that hard? What was different about this girl, that made him act this way? Am I am in love, he asked himself. The thought scared him.
Maddy bounced down the hallway. She stood in the elevator a grin on her face. Never had she been so happy. Everything was wonderful in life, she had a record deal, two best friends and bandmates and Billie Joe. Jase and Rob joined her in the elevator.
"Why are you so happy?" asked Jase quizically.
"Billie Joe came."
"You actually sent for him?! I thought you were just joking about that!" said Rob.
"Seriously guys, I think he's the one."
Both Rob and Jase looked away. Maddy, albeit the awkward silence, was still happy.
Billie Joe sat in the hotel room staring at the TV. Still trying to figure out what was happening. Only a few minutes earlier he had called Tre and Mike, they were on their way down to there to join him. This comforted him. Billie Joe just thought about everything for a moment, they had just signed recently too, and now he was in love? Is this real? He just didn't know anymore.
Maddy burst through the door.
"They want to have writers for me! Can you believe that?! I mean, fuck them."
"Maddy? Are you ok?"
She walked over and threw herself on the couch, she started to cry.
"They want me too sellout." she said, "They want me to ditch Jase and Rob and "clean up" and start working with writers. I just can't handle this."
"What did you say?"
"I tore up the contract."
Maddy fell into Billie Joes arms. She told him that she was checking out in the morning and had to leave LA.
"Wait, Maddy, you should come with me, I'm going to my home town, and you can stay with me, until you feel better."
"Oh, Billie Joe." a smile started on her face, she leaned in and kissed him.
They sat on the couch, watching old movies until about midnight, when Maddy said she was tired and went to bed, followed by Billie Joe. They lay in the bed, listening to each others breathing. It was soothing and Maddy and Billie Joe fell asleep simoltaneously.
The next morning they packed up their things, and got on Maddy's "bus", the drive was shorter than they expected, but soon they arrived to their destination.
They slowed down at a near by gas station, as their fuel tank started to run low, Maddy hopped out to go get a water bottle in the gas station. While waiting in line, she spotted some tabloids, one headline was, "Young Punk Parties Hard." and on the cover was Billie Joe.
