Who Are Ya?!, chapter 3
As Billie Joe took a nap, Mike and the new member talked about the talent show, and planned to hold practices. Mike asked if he wanted to chill for a bit, but the kid said he had to get going. After Billie woke up from his sleep, Mike told him about the practices, and Billie, who was half awake and half asleep, nodded. Then, he flopped back down on his bed, and soon fell into a deep slumber.
"I came up with some sweet tunes," Mike said to the drummer as they walked to Billie's garage.
"Awesome, I've just been practicing, tell me wh-"
"Who are ya?!" Billie Joe interupted as the two walked into the dull grey garage.
"The name's Jeff."
"Jeff? Eh, alright..." Billie said with a raised eyebrow. Billie wasn't a people person, and he didn't click with the newbie.
"Billie Joe right? I barely met you during auditions, which was about a week ago... I can't wait to hear what you've got! I wonder-"
"Okay, so let's get this started," Billie cut in, and was not enjoying Jeff's perky personality, "I've got at least three songs written, and I've got the melody in mind. Check it out." He sang his words and played a piano melody along with it.
"Wow! That's awesome!" Jeff exclaimed
"Dude, you just interrupted my song!"
"C'mon, the kid's just excited. Give em a break."
"Whatever.." Billie said under his breath.
The talent show was in 4 weeks, and the practices were not going as well as they had planned. Billie was getting annoyed with Jeff, and Jeff was feeling low by Billie's attitude towards him, and Mike was getting irritated with Billie for being an ass. Time was going by fast, and before they knew it, the talent show was in one week. Neither of them knew what was going on. Jeff and Billie were always arguing and Mike was always trying to sort it all out. Words went flying everywhere and before anyone could stop themselves, the words came out, as sudden and surprising as lightning.
"I DON'T WANT YOU IN THE BAND!" Billie yelled at the top of his lungs.
Jeff stood before him, with a face as red as a tomato, "I guess you're right. I DON'T WANT TO BE IN YOUR NOT ROCKIN' AWESOME BAND!"
Before Mike could make ends meet, Jeff tried to blow a punch at Billie who quickly stepped back. Billie was not going to ignore the challenge, but Mike stood between the two enemies and said, "Jeff, go home." Jeff put his fists down, with a look of shock. He looked at Billie who's eyes raged with anger, then at Mike who looked away. Jeff grabbed his drum sticks and ran home.
"Now why in the world would you do that?!" Billie looked at him.
"Was I too mean?"
"NO! Not that! You let him go! I was gonna take a swing, but no... Mike, the wise one had to come in," he said in a taunting tone, waving his hands everywhere.
"You just lost us our only drummer, and we've got a show to do!"
"Oooh, here goes Mike, always thinking logically! You'll probably graduate high school... EY! I lost our drummer?! YOU lost our drummer and-" Billie stopped at the site of a kid speculating their argument.
"Kid, get lost this isn't a movie, and we don't need an audience!" Mike said getting annoyed.
Billie squinted at the boy and yelled, "Who are ya?!"
