She Always Was His Girl, chapter 44
Mid January of 2006 had come around rather quickly. Green Day were taking some time off to recuperate from all the hard work and touring that went along with American Idiot. Billie Joe spent every free moment that he had with Katie. He still couldn't believe that she would think he didn't love her.
Katie had remained on birth control since she and Billie Joe had started doing the "dirty deed" again. She didn't want to take any chances. She went into the kitchen one day and rummaged in the drawer for her daily pill when she realized she was out.
"Goddammit," she muttered, "I'll have to run to CVS for a refill today."
She discovered that she was out of pills at just the right time too; Billie Joe knocked at her door.
Katie quickly went to answer it, and Billie Joe grabbed her up in his arms. "I want you now." he whispered sliding her sweater over her shoulders and letting it drop to the floor.
She smiled against his kisses while he pulled her clothes off, piece by piece. Katie couldn't resist him, and besides, it usually rakes a few times without protection or birth control to get pregnant.
It was a Saturday, and Carey and Cameron were at their father's house, so Billie Joe and Katie had all day to "have fun".
Katie giggled as Billie Joe picked her up and carried her upstairs to the bedroom. He laid her down and then removed his own clothes. He then got into bed with her, and positioned himself atop her. She didn't want to say no. All she wanted was to be with him, make love to him, kiss him, hold him, and lay in his arms.
She loved him.
She slid her tongue past his lips and wrapped her legs around his thin waist. His fingers went through her dark, chestnut brown hair and looked at her as if he was begging for her permission to ravish her.
Katie placed her hands upon the smooth skin on his back and pressed down, wanting him to enter her.
Every ounce of passion within them bubbled to the surface as they made love. It was amazing how wonderful they made each other feel. There was so much passion and chemistry between the two that their love would forever last.
When they were finished, they laid there just staring at each other. Billie Joe wrapped is arms around her waist and pulled her body close to his.
If only they could stay like that forever...

Meanwhile, at the Armstrong house, Adrienne sat on the couch watching "Rachel Ray's 30-Minute Meals" on the Food Network, while Joey and Jakob were upstairs doing God knows what.
She didn't look, feel, or act like the normal Adrienne everyone knew. Her skin was growing pale and sickly looking, she felt queasy most of the time, and she just wanted to sleep.
One thing dwelled on her mind though. It was the only explanation about why she had started to feel so bad recently.
**FLASHBACK**
It was December, and Green Day had gone back on tour for only a few days, and that left Adrienne all by herself, besides for Joey and Jakob.
At the time, Joey and Jakob were staying all night with their grandmother, Ollie, and Adrienne found it the perfect opportunity to slip away from it all.
She stepped into a local bar, and was seated at a small booth toward the back. Adrienne had never been one to drink excessively, but that night she was a little stressed and she missed Billie Joe.
It started out with one glass of red wine, that went to two, and that went to three, and so on until she was up into the double digits. She was a happy and carefree drunk, which probably wasn't the best thing for the time because an unfamiliar man approached her as she was exiting the bar.
"Hey!" the man said to her.
"Do I know you?" she giggled.
"No, but do you want to get to know me?" the man asked in a seductive tone.
"I would like that a lot." Adrienne responded not aware of what she was getting herself into.
She followed the man and got into his car, where he drove to a cheap, sleazy hotel. The man was not aware that Adrienne was married to a rock star, he just picked her up because she was drunk, and he thought she might be good for a quick roll in the hay.
That night, the man ended up having sex with her, and they didn't even know each other's names.
No love, no words, and no protection.
**END FLASHBACK**
Adrienne knew she had to find out if she was pregnant or not. She had only made love to Billie Joe a few times since he had come back, and when they did, he had used a condom because they really weren't ready for another baby at the moment.
She went upstairs and got Joey and Jakob, and then loaded them into the car to go to the store for a pregnancy test. When they arrived, Adrienne and the boys quickly walked to the feminine products area of the store, and picked out a test. Joey, being older and a pretty intelligent youngster, knew exactly what his mother had just gotten, and he knew exactly what it was for as well. Hell, he had had "the talk" when he was six.
After checking out, the three Armstrongs headed back home. Adrienne rushed through the door and into the bathroom. She wanted to get this over with. She needed to know. She took the test, and waited those long minutes before it registered. When she went up to check it, she took a deep breath in.
Please don't let it be positive. Please don't let it be positive...
POSITIVE
Why ? Why did it have to be positive? She didn't know what she was doing. It had been a mistake.
A very horrible one.
How was she going to break it to Billie Joe? She couldn't hide the fact that the child would look nothing like him, and Billie Joe didn't approve of abortion. She didn't want to hurt him. What could she do? At the moment, she honestly did not know.

When Billie Joe got home later that evening, Adrienne sat him down to tell him the unfortunate news. The first thing he noticed about her was the saddened expression on her face. She wasn't wearing the beautiful smile that made her eyes sparkle.
"What's wrong, Adie?" he asked placing his hand on hers.
"Umm... Billie, I-I'm pregnant." she admitted.
Billie Joe knew that it wasn't the best time for a baby, and he thought they had been pretty careful.
"But we used protection," he said, "I mean that's okay, but right now's not the greatest time in the world."
"No, it's not fine," she replied, "The baby...The baby isn't yours."
Billie Joe sat back on the couch absolutely appalled that she would tell him something like that.
"Well, who's it is?" he asked.
He was hurt. Very hurt. He had been cheating on her as well, but he still couldn't believe that she was cheating on him.
"Uhh, that's the problem," she started, "I don't know."
Adrienne could tell by his expression that he was upset. Who wouldn't be? She felt as if she had betrayed him.
"You know back in December when you went back on tour for a few days? I...accidentally had a little too much to drink, and when I was coming out of this bar, this guy stopped me. That's really all I remember about that night, but the next morning I woke up in a hotel room," she explained, "Billie I'm so sorry!" Adrienne cried putting her head in her hands.
Adrienne hadn't been loyal, however, Billie Joe held a secret just as bad, and it was just about to get worse.

February had rolled around, and it was nearing Billie Joe's birthday. He would be thirty-four; another year closer to forty. Billie Joe had told Katie about Adrienne's pregnancy, but neither of them could bitch about considering what they were doing.
When it was time for "Aunt Flow" to visit Katie, it didn't come. It worried her. What if she was pregnant to? What would Billie do and say?
Katie went through the same routine as Adrienne: Got to the store, get the test, go back home, and take it. She hoped to God that it would be a negative, and that this was just a false alarm, but unfortunately life doesn't always work out for the best, and peoples' lives run out of luck.
Her test registered positive as well.
"Oh shit..."
