Bab's Uvula Who?, chapter 2

I started walking around the room here the after "shindig" was taking place. There were so many people I didn't recognize but there were also many celebrities there which I had chose to ignore. I got a few offers to dance with some but I could hardly see their faces with the amount of body guards hanging off of them and watching their every move.

I was wondering around alone until I found Vivian, and we went into the deserted women's bathroom.

'Still haven't been "hunted down" as Billie put it?' She questioned. It was one of those things I wanted her to ask. We have all had those moments. Don't deny it ^_^.

'No.. But I am going to try to pull him in like a magnet. Poor Tre. I hate to do this to him' I pulled my dress down slightly, exposing the area most men like him usually couldn't resist.

'You are so full of yourself, it's gross' She rolled her eyes, sipping on Champagne while checking her hair in the mirror. I was drinking some too and had a bit more than she did, and I was starting to feel it.

'You can't deny I am dead sexy' I laughed, touching my finger to my butt and making a sizzle sound, cracking us both up at the stupidity.

'GASP! What was that? Tre Cool is looking for Kristy? My goodness! Kristy you better get out there!' Vivian acted like she was hearing someone talking to her. I gave her a tired look.

'Voice from within?'

'Damn yes. Trust it too'

'And this is coming from someone who said streaking was a good idea and we wound up in jail for indecent exposure?'

'Yup. It was a good idea too. Look how much fun we had'

We walked back out and it was like her fake inner voice was right. He was sitting right there at the bar, looking out into the crowd. Glancing down to see if my previous tugging of the dress was still in effect. I gave a final look to Vivian, and put my "less than pleased" face back onto my face and made my way towards him.

I sat down right next to him, and he amazingly didn't even notice I was there until I said something.

'Something told me to come talk to you after our incident earlier' I leaned against the cold polished metal on the bar counter, trying to resist jumping back from the coolness on my bare arms. He jumped slightly and looked over at me.

'Oh hey. I was looking for you'

'Figured' I smirked.

'Want me to get you something?' He asked.

'Eh.. Why not?' I said as he waved to the bartender to come over. We ordered our drinks and we started talking and I tried not to act like such a rude person. Maybe he was as cool as his band mate, Billie Joe.

'So I am assuming you know my name already?' He began.

'Tre Wright?' I wondered.

'Ha. No. Frank Wright is the real name. I go by Tre Cool'

'Oh. I see. I am Kristy Wright'

'Heh. That's kinda cool actually. You know, this will sound conceited, but I am surprised you know nothing about us' He said. It was kind of surprising, but when you are trying to avoid someone, it's pretty easy to not really know anything. I didn't want to be rude to him. I had a sudden wave of nice come over me. The bartender came over with our drinks and I started sipping on it right away. I could see him smirk at my actions before he took a sip of his own. I could care less right then.

'Drink much?' He laughed, when I looked over at him.

'Years of partying' Was all I said.

'Understood' He smiled. No. Don't smile! It's too hot. I was screaming that in my head, as if it was going to do some good. 'So what exactly do you do?' He changed the topic.

'Music producer slash drummer. Oakland'

'Exactly where we are from'

'See I knew that much. You are the talk of the town everyday' It was true too. All they had to do was look at someone and smile and that person would seem to talk about it all the time and it would be passed on person by person. Great. Was I turning into a perfect angel that suddenly likes Green Day and getting smitten with the drummer or was I just getting tipsy?

'So. I know you are here with The Daveys, awesome band by the way, but how do you know them?'

'See Vivian over there in the purplish blackish dress and her hair is done up?' I pointed to her, and took a sip of my drink.

'Oh. Yeah'

'I have known her all my life and I have know Lydia McMasters since we were in the fifth grade and then I met the rest of the band with her'

'Are they signed with your label?'

'Yup'

'You seem pretty cool. And you said you are a drummer. How long have you played?' I could tell he was getting pretty interested. I still didn't like him that much, but he was starting to turn out cool, if that makes any sence.

'Probably since I was 3 because my cousin was a drummer and before I could even reach the pedals I was banging them probably more than he was so I never gave up'

We continued talking about our family and careers for a while. Turns out he has two children, grew up in Willits, and was playing professionally since he was 12. He was impressing me, I must say. But by the time everyone was starting to leave, I was beyond tipsy, and slurring and singing random songs. Tre was beyond the tipsy state too.

'I wanna ride my skate. I wanna stay out late.
I wanna mohawk but
Mom won't let me get one.
I just wanna go to shows.
Don't wanna pierce my nose.
I wanna get a mohawk but Mom won't let me get one' I started to dance as we leaned into each other to keep each other from falling onto the floor. I saw his eyes appearing red and watery.

'You're singing AFI?' He wondered.

'NO. I was singing GREEN DAY. Where have YOU been?' I slurred.

'Green Day? Kristy. We should get back to the hotel' Harlan, The Davey's bass player said from behind us. We both turned our heads to look back at him, both almost losing balance and giggling at our clumsiness.

'Who said I was going anywhere?' I tested him, thinking I was being pretty tricky.

'Oh. Sneaky. I said you were' He said sarcastically.

'What if she's coming with me?' Tre said. Harlan gave us a long stare, not knowing what to say.

'Consequences, Kristy. Consequences' He rolled his eyes. I broke away from Tre, causing him to almost fall and I grabbed onto Harlan's shoulder and tried to lead him to where Tre couldn't hear.

'Look. I think I like this guy'

'Your piss drunk, you hate Green Day' He tried to remind me.

'But he has little qualities that are so huge' I said in a deep, exaggerated voice. 'Kind of like sweet potatoes. Those little qualities and it makes them taste sooo good. Same with eggplants'

'And if you leave with him, and wake up next to him tomorrow, you will hate him and freak out and leave'

'Look here BUDDY. I don't need no fucking advice on what I do. Lemme go' I walked away from him. He was probably right. I wouldn't remember anything.

We walked out of the building and straight into the slough of camera's. I tried to walk and stand straight but knew it wasn't going to help. We just drunkenly pushed our way through the flashing lights forgetting the people we came with and leaving to his hotel room, not really knowing what was going to happen next, and had almost no control over anything.
