Too Much Too Soon, chapter 10
"Thought..*static*..saw...*static*...dropped phone...*static*"
"Tell me what's going on!"
"Joey...*static*..not home...*static*..don't know...*static*....gone...." Billie immediately hung up the phone and ran out the door.
"BILLIE?!" Adrienne yelled, and David turned his head from the room to see the stair door open, and slowly close.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Breathe. Tell me what happened," Billie said at the doorstep of the Burnes.
"We checked on him last night, and saw him fast asleep. We decided to sleep at your house for extra protection. John and I went to check on him this morning, only to find the bed empty and the w-w-w-w-ind-ow b-b-b-broken..."she sobbed.
"It's not your fault, Mel. I saw the police are already at the house. Did they say anything?"
"No trace of the villan. No footprints, fingerprints, not one thing. Your alarm wasn't set, or the villan got around it."
"Well, thank you."
"The investigators said they'd do a search for him. I'm sooo sorry-"
"Please, don't blame yourself. Have a good day," but after saying 'have a good day,' he wished he hadn't. The man on the phone said 'good day' to him, and it turned out just the opposite. Billie felt as if he had just jinxed Mrs. Burnes.

"Hello?"
"Billie, Adri heard what happened, and the hospital said it was alright for her to stay one more night. She told me to meet up with you to hang out. Ya know, get your mind of things?"
"David, how the hell am I going to do that? I have to figure all this out. I don't have to time to relax."
"Listen," David said in a whisper, "I'm here for ya. I'm in the secret service. I can help you out. What do you say?"
Billie had forgot that fact about his brother and quickly said, "Meet me at Cafe On The Sidewalk down on-"
"I know. See you in a bit."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"That is a lot to take in! Wow, I am very sorry Billie," David said after hearing the story.
"Yeah, well, all I can do now is try to protect myself and my family from those guys," Billie said in a low tone. The other guests at the restaurant were staring at Billie. They were aware of the bus accident, his wife, and the kidnapping.
"Don't worry Billie, I've got your back. I'll tell my best agents to be on the look out for those guys. I want those guys out of my way as well as yours."
"Hahahaha, out of your way?"
"Ha yeah! Anything in your way, is in my way. You've got enough to keep you busy, and I'm sure these bad events aren't helping. Oh, Adri told me that she's concerned about you."
"Yeah. Hey, not a word to this about Adrienne. I don't want her worrying, especially with the baby on the way."
"Mmm, yeah, good decision."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That night, Billie stood in front of his blocked home that was being investigated. David offered him a room in his house, but Billie declined. Billie's car was parked on the street, and he entered it with ease. He never locked his car, and always hid his car keys under the passenger seat. He sat in his car analyzing all that had happened. Without warning, a bullet hit the roof of his car, and another bullet went through his windshield, causing it to shatter into a million pieces. That was the last thing that Billie saw or heard that night....
