Too Much Too Soon, chapter 11

The sun beat against his face, and he found himself laying down in the driver's seat of the car. Around him were the pieces of glass, and he saw his hands cut by some of the shattered pieces.
*bzzt bzzt bzzt* He lazily pulled the flip phone from his jacket pocket. Billie flipped the phone open to answer the call, but did not say anything.
"What did I tell you about spending time with family members? Hmm? Answer me."
"You said-" he struggled to say. The pain on his entire body was unbelievable. He couldn't move.
"That's right," the man taunted, "Ah, and here you are, without a son, and surprisingly alive. Now, let's see if you can handle another task. You need to move out of town."
"What?" Bille groaned.
"Not only are you causing danger to your family, but to your reputation, your neighbors, and the town itself. Do you want to hurt more innocent people?"
Billie didn't answer. He was in too much pain to reply.
"Well, make sure you get on it! Don't worry about the police assuming you're a criminal or anything of that sort. I'll take care of that. Good day." *CLICK*
"OMG! Billie, what the hell happened?!" David said running across the street.
"David?" Billie said softly and closed his eyes into the darkness.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Billie woke up with the feeling as if someone was beating him on the head with a hammer. He was glad no one really was because he knew that if he wasn't careful, those guys may actually do that to him. He looked around, and the house looked familiar. He was laying on David's couch, and as he sat up, he found a note on the coffee table in front of him. Scribbled on the small sheet of paper:

Hey Billie. I'm at work, and I'm trying to figure out you-know-what. There's money on the kitchen table, food in the fridge, and the keys to my other car are on the kitchen table. If I were you, I'd stay home, for your sake. I'll be home around six to seven.

David

Billie disposed of the paper in case the men would find it. He walked to the kitchen to make some coffee, and he stuffed the 20 dollar bill in his pocket. 'I am not going to just sit around. I gotta get outta here,' he thought to himself.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The day was warm and sunny. Billie decided to walk to the hospital to see Adrienne, which was only 15 minutes away by foot. He figured he could use the fresh air. He walked through the automatic doors, and up to room 211. A bored Adrienne laid in her bed watching a talkshow on tv.
"Hello, gorgeous."
"BILLIE!" she tried to get out of bed, but Billie ran to her and made her lay back down.
"Adri. Relax."
"I am relaxed! So, how have you been?" she asked and Billie could see the sadness in her eyes as they looked deeply into his.
"It's been-"
"Billie! What happened to your hands?! They're all cut, and your face?! How-"
"Shhhh..."
"Don't shhh me! What the hell happened?!"
"Nothing-"
"Don't give me that fucking bullshit!" She always cursed up a storm when she was angry.
"Adrienne," Billie said firmly, "I don't want you worrying, especially while you've got a baby coming up soon!"
"What the fuck am I supposed to do?! Pretend that all this shit is okay?!"
"No, I just don't want you to waste all your enrgy on this."
"WASTE my energy?" she had taken the comment the wrong way, "What?! Is what I feel or do a waste?!"
Billie took a deep sigh to release his stress. He sat down in the chair next to her side, and put his head in his hands.
"Adrienne, I love you! I care too damn much about you!"
Her face softened and her hand stroked Billie's arm, "I know, and I care to fucking damn much about you!"
He looked up, "What am I supposed to do? My three best friends are gone, my son is gone, you were hurt, and I'm running for my life! *sigh* I'm a walking target, and anyone who gets near me is bound to get hurt," and he took Adrienne's hand into his, "I need to get away for a bit. Think things over, set up a plan. I need keep some peace in this town, and to those around me. I don't want to leave, but I think I have to. I have no idea how long I'll be gone."
"I don't want you to be absent when Jakob is born. Hell, I don't want you to be gone at all! But I suppose if this is something that you really need to do..."
"It is. You know I wouldn't do this unless I found it necessary, but I can't leave until I know you and the baby are safe somewhere."
"Don't wait, go do what you need to do, and get it over with! I can take care of myself."
"I know. I love you."
"I love you, too."
They kissed. He was gonna have to hold on to this moment; he knew it was going to be a long time until he returned home to it. Never did he think that the words "till death do you part," would apply to him so soon in his life.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Billie strolled out the hospital, fiddling with his wedding ring on his finger. His stomach rumbled, and he decided to get a bite to eat at Cafe On The Sidewalk. He sat in a booth next to the window where he stared at people nearby. As he sat and ate his sandwhich, he saw two guys walking together on the other side of the street, heading away from the cafe. However, he leaned forward and squinted quickly to take a better look at the men before he lost view of them. One was average height with brown hair wearing a red collared shirt with a black tie, and black pants. An instand vision of Jason popped into his mind. The man next to him had blond hair that stood straight up. He was rather skinny and wore a t-shirt with jeans, looking oddly similar to Mike. Suddenly, Billie's jaw dropped and he gasped, "Could it be?!"
