Too Much Too Soon, chapter 4
Billie grabbed Jason's reaching hand with his right, and grabbed the rope with his left. The wind blew the hair all over his face, and he thought he had seen the bus tip over and begin to drop. He wasn't mistaken. A booming splash, and a large wave rippled the still waters.
"NOO!"
"Don't let go, just do as I say."
"I GOTTA-."
"Listen to me!"
"GRRRR, NOOOOOO!"
Bille's face looked puzzled, as he looked up at Jason hanging on the rope. Didn't he have a premonition about this conversation not too long ago?! He shut his eyes hard trying to remember, and then he remembered that he did! He became angry at himself for not taking the hint of the vision. The two were finally pulled up into the helicopter and Billie stared at the bus that took a final plunge into the dark, black waters. He felt the urge to jump in after them, but felt an arm in his way.
"Billie-"
"No. I should have stayed on the bus to-"
"Don't go blaming yourself."
"Jason, I had a vision about this! I could have prevented this from happening. How am I gonna live-"
"What's done is done, and they've got rescuers going down there. They'll find them."
"Yeah okay," Billie said, but not believing a word Jason had said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------They stood at the bridge while the police and the media pressed questions on them. If there was anything Billie hated, it was unwanted people getting into his buisness. He let Jason do the talking and walked to the edge of the bridge.
"BILLIE JOE! How do you feel about the accident?" a lady with a microphone yelled behind the "POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS" banner.
"What do you think lady?!" Billie thought to himself not wanting the media to feed off his anger.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It felt like hours, and the divers rose up to the shore, and shook their heads. They were unable to locate the bodies, but were able to find some valuables from the vehicle.
"Mr. Armstrong, I am sorry, we searched, but-"
Billie tried calming himself down and said, "Yeah, you did your best. What did you find?"
The man's wet hand gave Billie Mike's favorite sweatband, and a set of Tre's many drumsticks. Billie gripped the items hard and released a river of tears that drowned his face.
"I'm terribly sorry, sir," the man said and walked past Billie to leave him alone with his head down, sobbing.
=THE NEXT DAY=
Jason and Billie slept in a provided hotel, not far from the crash site. They each got their own room, next to each other. The police were still investigating the scene and no evidence has been found for who started the chaos.
*KNOCK KNOCK* at the door, and Billie stretched and rose from the bed slowly to answer the door. *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*. "I'M COMING!" he yelled to the visitor. *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* Irritated, he yelled, "I SAID-" but he never reached the door, nor finished his sentence...
