All Hail the Heartbreaker, chapter 4

Billie Joe looked over at Ryn. She had just woken up.

"You're amazing." he said to her.
She looked at him. "I already slept with you."
"I know."
"So, why the 'amazing'? Because I'm tired, I'm not doing that again." she said.
He looked at her. He was about to put his arm around her when she got up off the bed and went to light a cigarette.
"That's probably your sixth cigarette in the last day. You're going to die."
"There are worse things."
"Like what?"
"War, hunger, animal necrophylia..."
"Animal necrophylia, what the fuck? Okay, okay fine, you get your way. Do you want to go out to eat? I'm hungry." Billie said walking around the hotel trying to find his shirt.
"Animal necrophylia makes no sense."
"We could go to McDonald's... we could invite Mike and Tre, I want you to meet them." He said, pulling his shirt over his head.
"I mean, what do you tell the judge?" Ryn said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know the dog was dead when I was fucking it?"
Billie Joe looked at her. "Did... You... Wow. You're insane."
She smiled. "I thought I was amazing."
"Who says the two can't go hand in hand?" He said giving her a kiss on the forehead.

About a half hour later they stood in front of Billie's hotel room as he fidgeted with the key trying to get it open. Ryn just started laughing at him.

"Wow. Stop being such a pussy and just open the god damn door." She said laughing. He had never seen her laugh before. And it was at him.

"Excuse you?" He said.
"You heard me." She said smirking at him. They heard footsteps, loud ones, coming towards the door. Then a thud, and then Mike opened the door to a very nice hotel room and a groaning Tre lying in the fetal position by the door.

"Hit the door there, Tre?" Billie said chuckling.
"Fuck you." Tre said, laughing. "Where've you been man? Haven't seen you in a few hours."
"Tre, I've been gone for two days."
"... Oh. Hm. Well... Glad you're back!"
Billie just grinned and then remembered Ryn. "Hey... guys, this is Ryn." He said, introducing her to Mike and Tre. They all decided to go through the drive-thru at McDonald's and get some food and come back to the hotel room. They sat around the table talking.

"So..." Mike started. "Ryn, are you from around here?"
Ryn didn't look up from her food which was being inhaled by the second. "Um.. not really. I've just been living in a crappy hotel for the last month or so here."
Mike looked at her. "Really? I would hate being in a hotel room all the time. The only thing I don't like about being on tour. We leave in a few days and then we'll settle into a new hotel room." Billie looked at Ryn. This was the first time anyone had mentioned what would happen when he would leave and when Ryn got restless. The two became incredibly quiet.

In fact, they didn't even say a word to eachother. Billie drove Ryn back to her hotel room and walked her up there. When she opened the door, he followed her.

He cleared his throat, not sure of what to say. Her silence made him uneasy.

"Look, Ryn..."

------------------------ Billie Joe's Point of View -------------------------

Nothing more came out. She was intimidating.

"We're leaving in a few days." I said finally after a long moment of silence. She sat down on the bed casually and lit a cigarette.
"I heard. And?" She looked at me like she was challenging me.
"I... Well... I want you to come with me. On tour." I waited for what seemed like forever for a response.
She simply said "No."
"Why not Ryn? You're living in a hotel, you can get up and leave anytime you want."
She glared. "It's been fun, but no, I'm not going on tour with you."

I was in shock. After earlier, after she started to open up a little, I was sure this wasn't just some fling. I moved onto the bed and I took the cigarette from between her lips and put it out after taking a drag. I kissed her and we tasted the same. I could feel it in her touch and see it in her eyes. Our foreheads were touching and we were looking directly towards eachother. I softly let the words past my lips, "Please come with me." She got off the bed and moved to the other side of the room.

"Ryn, you can't honestly tell me that after last night this is just a fling." I said.
"Well it is. That's what it was the first night we met!" she screamed.
"Well it's not that anymore!" I replied. I couldn't believe this. We were fighting. I took a deep breath and tried to regroup my thoughts. "Everything I'm feeling, I know you're feeling it too. I can see it in your eyes, you feel the same way. I can also see that you're scared. That's probably why afterwards in bed you always just get up and walk around nervously, you never let me hold you or kiss you. This is more than a fling. I don't know what it is but we'll never know unless you come with me.

She looked at me. Then she walked out the door of her own hotel room. I followed after her.
"Ryn! Where are you going?" She stopped to get ice. "What the fuck!?" I yelled. She didn't look me in the eye. "Leave. You're not worth it."

"I'm not leaving, I don't believe you. Look me in the eyes and tell me it's not worth it."

She looked me straight in the eyes. They were peircing into me and seeing everything I am. A tear rolled down her cheek and I went to wipe it away and she moved her face. I stroked her cheek and she held my hand to her cheek. In a small voice that I will never forget she looked at me straight in the eyes.

"Leave. You're not worth it." She stood up on her tip-toes and kissed my forehead. Then she turned around and walked back up the stairs, not looking back.

Fuck, I said to myself. She's not worth it, I thought. And I tried to make myself think that as I walked into the dark parking lot and got ready to drive away.
