A Night To Remember, chapter 13
Billie Joe groaned softly. He tried to move his head, but when he did pain stabbed into his mind and he lay still. He opened his eyes, and realised that he was in a moving truck. He saw someone in the passenger seat, and a stranger driving. His face burned as he remembered what had happened. His eyes stung when he remembered Tré. He realised he was lying in someone's lap, and he lifted his head ever so slightly to see who it was. He smiled when he saw Mike's face. He was staring at nothing, and he looked deep in thought. He glanced down and did a double take.
"Hey guys he's awake!" The other passenger spun round and beamed at Billie Joe. Billie Joe looked at the blue eyes, bandaged head and mischievous smile. No, he thought. It cant be! Tré's dead!
"Its about time too!" Tré said.
"I told you he'd wake up. He only has a mild concussion." The driver said matter of factly.
"Shut up smartass." Tré giggled. "How are you feeling?" He asked.
"I-I'm dreaming." Billie Joe said. "Tré's d-d-dead." And with that he fainted again. Mike sighed and patted Billie Joe's head.
"He needs a little more time." Mike said.
"How far are we now?" Tré asked.
"That's the fifth time you've asked me in two hours!" Jack said, but in a friendly way. They were starting to become good friends.
The sun was starting to rise. It had stopped snowing, but the road was still barely visible from the side. The countryside glistened in the sun rise. Tré started to hum "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" Absent-mindedly.
It was around two hours later, and they were entering a small town.
"I'm hungry." Tré stated. "Mike, are you?"
"Huh?" Mike snorted and opened his eyes. "Uh... Well yeah. Kinda."
"Jack?" Tré asked.
"Well I-"
"What about you Billie Joe?" Tré turned round to the sleeping Billie and grabbed hold of his head.
"I'm starving!" Tré said as he made Billie Joe open and close his mouth. Mike punched Tré's arm.
"Quit it!" Mike said.
"Hehe this is kinda fun! Billie, how are-WAAAAAAH!" Billie Joe had woken up with a start and had bit down hard on Tré's fingers. Mike laughed and grinned at the cursing Tré.
"You little asshole!" Tré exclaimed. Billie Joe wasn't smiling. He was gaping at Tre open mouthed.
"I-I wasn't dreaming! You're not dead!"
Tré smiled and winked.
"It'll take more than a yeti to kill me!" He said. Billie Joe felt tears stinging his eyes again but held them back and grinned. He stopped when he saw Jack in his Nazi uniform.
"What's going on? Were we caught?"
"Nope. This is Jack. He's a secret agent. He's going to help us." Tré said. Jack turned round and quickly flashed Billie Joe a smile before facing the road again.
"What, so we're going to Milton Keynes?" Billie Joe asked.
"Yup. We're going to stop the Nazi's." Mike said.
"Uh, and how are we going to do that?" Billie Joe said.
"I'm working on it." Jack said. There was silence for a while.
"So Jack, are you hungry?" Tré asked.
"Yes. I'm going to stop somewhere so we can get something to eat." Jack said. "We're still five hours away from Milton Keynes."
"Five?" Tré said in dismay. He slumped down in his seat. He hated long car journeys.
