Livin' With The Gorillaz, chapter 1
CH. 1 - Leaving
It was then that I knew that I couldn't take living with my parents in Alabama anymore. It was a rather gloomy day when I decided that I was going to find a place on my own. After I got home from school that day and finished my homework I got on the Internet and began searching for places in California, seeing how I've always wanted to live near my dad, I was eager to leave. It took me days until I finally found a place, turned out it was all so easy. I read on:
KONG STUDIOS:
FREE EMPTY ROOM: huge room.
FREE RENT!
Must be 17 or older.
Willing to make a new friend and fill in that empty space!
Will pay for trip.
Requirements: Bravery, smarts, and attitude...
Number: 678-KONG
I kinda thought a moment and wondered why they were making this so easy. So I wrote down the number and got off the Internet. I sat on my bed and wondered if I should even do this. How would I explain this to all my friends? What about Mike? I finally dialed the number and a smart-ass voice answered it.
"YEA?! What the hell do you want? This is Kong Studios." I looked at the phone then answered.
"Yea, um I'd like to answer your AD in the paper about a free room." Then the little voice burst into unexpected laughter.
Ahem. "Yes, you're the 10th person to call our AD. What is your name?"
"Alexis Sepulveda." I replied.
"Uh-huh, how old?"
"Seventeen."
"Uh-huh, would you care if your room was next to a car lot? I mean there will be an elevator there to take you where you need to go." Elevator?! How big was this place?
"No I wouldn't mind at all."
"GOOD! You're filled in and ready to go. We'll book you in for your flight here and let you know when you board! But all I need is your damn number and we're all done."
"867-1209"
"Thank-you!" Click went the phone. I sat on my bed and thought a moment. I wonder why this was so easy. Later that day, I fixed some coffee and headed for my room and grabbed some suitcases and began packing all my stuff. When I finished I looked out the window, it was raining. Mom's truck pulled in outside and parked. She walked inside and came in my room. Asked me how my day was, and I broke out the news that I was leaving. She dropped the groceries and gasped.
"So you're actually gonna do it. I can't believe this! Lex, why are you doing this?!"
"'Cause I can and I will. I'm tired of being here in this wretched dump! I hate Alabama and all you do is fuss with him!"
I pointed at Paul who also walked in. I then turned back to my suitcases and began packing again. When I was done and done fussing with mom, the phone rang; I quickly picked up the phone, "HELLO?!"
"Yes, Alexis?"
"Yea?!"
"You're booked to leave tomorrow morning, 4:00 AM. See ya here!"
"GOOD CAUSE I'M OUTTA HERE!" I slammed the phone down and zipped up my suitcases. Then picked up the phone again and called my friend Tre' Cool.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Yea, hey Tre what's up? I need to come and stay with you till 4:00 AM tomorrow morning. Is that ok?"
"Yea I guess but why?"
"No time to explain I'm coming over." I then hung up the phone grabbed some money and my keys, then left out of the house, loading up in my car and drove off onto the road.
