"What did she want?" Jessica asked while still watching TV.
"She just called to ask if Nick was home yet." I didn't want Sarah and Jessica to know that my mom had a new boyfriend.
"So let's get to practicing already. There's nothing on TV!" Sarah said as Jessica and I looked at her a little shocked to hear her say that she would rather practice then watch TV.
"Ok." Jess and I said in unison
When we had just finished setting up to start practicing Nick, my older brother, came running in and asked if mom was home yet.
"No but she called and asked if you were home yet. She called not to long ago. Oh and one more thing 'Houston we have a problem.' 'We're going down! Mayday! Mayday!' 'We are now at a code-red please remain calm. I repeat we are now at a code-red please remain calm.'" my brothers eyes bulged for a second then went back to normal.
You see me and my brother and I had made a little code thing that e use when our friends are around to warn each other that our mom was bring her boyfriend home. We set it up ever since my mom brought home a guy named Darrell. He had beat my mom because she didn't want to have sex with him yet. It's a good thing that Nick was able to distract him for a short period of time so I could call the cops he was put away. So just in case any one of our moms new boyfriends are like Darrell we can be ready. Jess and Sarah just think I'm being weird and in a sense I am.
"Jessica, Sarah can I borrow my sister for a sec."
"Yeah but we need to start soon so don't take to long." Jessica said shaking her head and laughing.
"Thanks." Nick said and took me into the kitchen so we could talk.
"Are you sure mom's bringing him here?"
"Yes stupid you heard what I said. Do you have any ideas what he's like?"
"No I was going to ask you that. I didn't even know that mom had a new boyfriend. Especially after what happened with Darrell."
"Yeah I know what you mean. He was a jackass."
"So did she say anything about him?"
"Yeah only that he would love to hear us all play. And that he's in a band of his own or something like that."
"Well I guess she wants him to be a surprise now huh?"
"Yeah I guess whatever. Look mom wants us to play for him so we better get to practicing."

After we played all the songs that we know me and Nick decided that we should play Disappearing Boy by Green Day. (Nick sings in the band along with me Jessica and Sarah but he's the head singer)

When we finished we all heard applause. And I knew that they had heard us do the entire song.

Jessica, Sarah, and Nick had already turned to see who it was and they seemed to be in a state of shock.
"Yeah. And who are you?" after I looked over I realized that I just asked a dumb question. Possibly embarrassing myself in front of one of my three ideals.
