The Truth About Dogs, chapter 14

I was seriously shocked when I saw that car hit Pecker, but I didn't bother with it.

I looked over the edge of the bridge. The tapes were floating on top of the water.

I was wondering how in the Hell I would be able to retrieve them, but before I could formulate a plan, the guy that hit Pecker came running over to me.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry I hit your dog!"

"Oh, it's okay."

I didn't pay attention to the strange look the guy gave me. I looked back over the bridge. The tapes were still there, luckily.

I stood up and continued looking over. I thought I heard something moving behind me. I had my son's sunglasses on, and I was thankful for them. They were the kind that had mirrors on the side, so I could see behind me.

I watched as Pecker slowly got up. He was like a fucking zombie dog or something. He started to creep up on me. I pretended to not see him, and waited until he lunged for me.

As he did, I stepped sideways, grabbed him, and threw him over the bridge.

"HOLY SHIT!" yelled the guy who hit him, "WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM?!?!"

I spun around, "That dog is evil! He stole my tapes!"

The tapes! I forgot about them. I looked over the side of the bridge again. They were gone, and I also didn't see Pecker.

The guy was still freaking out behind me. I looked in the mirrors, and saw him take out his cell phone. Then, I looked over at his car. Fuck. He was one of those weird environmental, animal loving, vegan, hippie kind of person.

Even when Pecker wasn't causing the problem, he was still an indirect reason.

That fucking dog...

Now the fucking animal police are going to arrest me, and I'll have to spend time in jail with Bubba the dog lover. I shuddered to think about what would really happen.
