Just a Dream..., chapter 5
As soon as I snapped back into reality it was too late. The driver had slammed on his breaks, but it still whammed into me. The first feeling I had was numbness. It felt like everything was going in slow motion. All I knew was I was laying on my back with a pool of blood growing by my side. My head felt like it was going to explode. Not from the car, but from my thoughts. What Billie Joe did behind his wife's back. But my biggest question was why? Why would he want to mess up his perfect life on a foolish person like me? Moments later I was fading in and out of consciousness, and eventually blacked out.
I had woken up in the hospital and was surrounded by cards, flowers, and my family. I moaned painfully as my body was limp and throbbing. My mother had been holding my hand and sitting at my bedside since I first came here. Her concern was that I would never wake up. "Mom..." I croaked. My voice sounded dry and cracked. My mom hushed me as tears started welting up in her eyes. "Oh Sadie...." was all she could manage to say before someone knocked on my door. My dad answered it, and it was the person who hit me. He entered and the room was silent. My jaw dropped so low it was hanging down to the floor!
"I...I don't know what happened. I tried slamming on my brake, bu....but I wasn't quick enough." He said with guilt. "It's okay...I'm not dead now am I?" I said trying to make him feel better even though I still couldn't believe who was standing before me. As he stood there my parents went out to get some coffee. "If you don't mind me asking...why where you standing out there like a zombie in the first place?" he asked me. "I was baby-sitting this person's kid and when I was heading home he kissed me." I said silently. "Do I know this person?" he asked obviously knowing I knew him considering I was wearing a Green Day shirt. "Yes....." I replied quietly. "Oh no....." he said and walked out the door.
