Starting To Lose It!, chapter 3
Tre and Mike waited around for Billie Joe to shower away the stench of stale beer and smoke and they pilled into Tre's car. Billie Joe climbed onto the back seat and found a magazine with his face staring back at him on the floor. "Dude why do you have a picture of me in your car?" Tre turned around and with a sarcatic smile said "Well sometimes when you're not around I just miss you!" Billie Joe rested his head to one side and grinned at Tre, "Okay I found it on a news stand and I wanted to know what people have to say about you! Its good to know what your public think." Mike turned around and said, "Thats only becasue you dont have a public, you're the drummer peope barely know you exist." Tre turned and started the car and as they pulled out of the drive he said to Mike "You cut me deep just then man!"
Once they'd turned the first corner Billie Joe leaned forward and said "Where are we going? That interview isnt until this afternoon, is it?" Tre switched the radio on and said "No but we've gotta swing by the studio so Mike can pick up his bass and then the record company want us to go in to talk about when we're planning on going to New York for some promotion thing, I wasnt really listening on the phone!" Billie Joe leaned back in his seat and just as he was starting to relax American Idiot began to blast from the radio, "God turn this down, I never thought Id say it but Im so sick of us being on the radio" he moaned. Mike ignored him and turned the song up, "What're you talking about? Being on the radio is better than sex... Well not sex with me but you know what I mean!" Tre pulled to a stop at a red light and took the opportunity to bounce up and down like little girl and screech, "It means they like us, they really like us!" Mike started to fake being emotional and almost crying and rested his hand on Tre's shoulder, "I know man.... Its the best feeling ever!" Billie Joe couldnt help but laugh at the two guys, "You're bloody insane!" As the song started to come to an end the radio announcer began to talk, "And for those of you who weren't lucky enough to spot good old Green Day at their usual bar last night I have it on good authority that Billie Joe did NOT leave for home by himself, its alright for some!" Billie Joe slumped down into his seat and pulled his jacket over his head, no matter how hard he tried this city always came back to bite him.... There's always someone watching, he thought to himself.
