Dixon, chapter 2

"Dude what was that all about?" Billie asked me, following at my heels.

"I don't need some 80 year old dude putting in 'good words' in for me.."

"But Mike, come on... --" Billie Joe began.

"Billie Joe... just. Oh never mind." I said waving my hand in the air and laughing it off. Billie shrugged to himself and opened his door. I opened mine and we both got in the car.

"Mike... dude... you should've... " Billie Joe mumbled shaking his head. And a few minutes later, "Dude... . I would go back there and ask him if his offer still stands... " After a few more comments I got frustrated with him.

"DROP IT BILLIE!" I snapped at him. He looked at me and then sighed and shifted his eyes out his window.

I turned the keys and shut the car off. I glanced over at Billie who was still staring at his window, but anyone could tell he was just trying to get me to say something.

"Ok... we can go back there tonight if you want to... " I began.

"YAY! Come on Mike, you know it's a good idea!! Your gonna have some fun! It can't hurt!" Billie Joe screeched, jumping up and down in his seat. I sighed and laughed at the sight of him.

Billie entertained himself for a while by putting on a southern accent and saying "motel seeex... " over and over again. We were staying at a Motel 6, we couldn't afford any of the other fancy expensive hotels, but for our needs this was fine.

Billie Joe had gotten Blue out with a mini amp and was, from the looks of it writing a new song. He was scribbling at a piece of paper and then humming lyrics and waving the pen in the air.

"Hey Billie.." I said brining him to reality.

"Yah man?" He said looking up from the paper.

"What time do you want to go to that bar?"

"Oh... uh... I don't care. Whenever.."

I nodded and walked out to my car to get my other suitcase that I had left in there and my bass amp. It didn't look like a criminal town, so I figured that it would be alright to leave things in the car. Before I slammed the trunk shut, I took a look around the place. The sun was shinning and a nice warm summer breeze was coming by. I looked up to the sky and closed the trunk.

"Hey Mike, you wanna get that bass of yours out?" Billie Joe asked me when I walked in.

"Sure do." I relied and brought my bass out and we did what we do best, rocked out.

"Holy shit dude, look at the time!" Billie Joe said and I looked over at the alarm clock and sure enough it said 8 pm on it. "We better get going.. I want you to get to that bar!"

Billie practically shoved me out the door and into the car. This time he was driving, that is if we remembered how to get to the bar.

After a few wrong turns, we arrived in the parking lot. I began frantically searching for her car. And damn sure as daylight itself, there it was.. Sitting way in the back, a Ford 69 Mack 1 Mustang.
