Cat And Billie Joe, chapter 24

"So... How long have you two been together?" Meg sipped her iced tea, taking a bite of her salad.
"You've been dying to ask that since we left, haven't you?" Cat chuckled.
"No! Yes...," She looked up at her sister. "So? How long?"
"Well... We were together about 4 months or so... Then, blah, blah, blah, three years later, and we've been together for about two weeks now." She said, poking her salad with her fork, a disgusted look on her face. Why did she order a salad?
"Blah, blah, blah? What happened?" Meg asked, pausing a second, before resuming her eating.
"Well... So, they were playing at Gilman, right? And he got really drunk. REALLY drunk, so drunk I'm surprised he knew his name, let alone anything. Anyway, I found him kissing a chick. And, I'm not defending him here, so don't even say it. This chick looked so much like me. Short blonde hair, green eyes, and, she was probably the same exact height as I was. So I ran. And went to college, graduated, and there he was. By that time I had forgiven him."

Meg nodded. She knew she shouldn't push anything, or even say anything else about that subject.
"So, photography, huh? How that working?"
"Well, I got a job, and I can use their office anytime, for editing, and everything, and they call me up when I have a job, and... It's great." Cat gushed.

Cat asked what was going on in Meg's life, and two hours later, they parted, heading separate direction. They always had been.

Cat headed back home, unlocking her door, collapsing on the couch. She glanced at her watch. 2:30. She reached over to grab the phone, dialing Mike'snumber.
"Hello?" Mike answered.
"Hey Mikey... Can I talk to Bill for a sec, won't take to long. Promise."
"Sure... Hold on a sec. Billie! It's Cat!" He yelled. She heard several crashes, pounding feet, then a faint 'motherfucker. '
"Billie? Are you okay?" Cat asked.
"Yeah... Fine, I just ran up here, and fell, then fell again... And... I hurt my knee." She could hear in his voice that he was pouting.
"You are such a Drama Queen." She chuckled a bit.
"Want to come over? We should be done soon if you come, so... We could all hang out or something." He asked her. Cat nodded, but realized he couldn't see her.
"Yes, I'll be over soon. Bye Billie." They hung up, and she checked to make sure she looked presentable, grabbed her purse and camera, leaving her apartment behind.

Cat opened Mike's door, and walked in, hearing some shouts, and banging drums. She found the boys in the basement, Mike and Tre had switched instruments, and Billie in the corner, drinking a beer.
"Hi... " Cat whispered, sitting next to him as he settled his arm around her shoulders. She took his beer bottle, stealing a sip, and gave it back to him. Billie leaned his head against the wall, closing his eyes.
"I'm fucking bored... " He whispered.
Cat ran her fingers through his hair, and he leaned into her touch.
"Come on you guys! We're right here!" Tre shouted.
"Get over it Tre... " Billie told him.

"Hmmm.... Want to come over?" Cat asked Billie as they were walking out of Mike's house.
"Sure." He smiled.
They drove over to her apartment, stopping at the top of the stairs for a bit, just looking. The sun had started to set, and it was all purple and red and orange.
"It's so beautiful." Cat says.
"Your beautiful." Billie said, which made Cat smile.
"So are you." She giggled and took his hand.

The next day, Cat, Tre, Mike, and Billie Joe went to McDonalds for lunch.
"What would you like sir?" The young cashier asked Tre.
"Yes, um... I'd like a cheeseburger, no cheese." He said.
"So you'd like a hamburger?"
"No, I'd like a CHEESEburger, no CHEESE." He said.
"Sir, that would be a hamburger." The cashier started to get slightly annoyed.
"NO. A cheeseburger. NO CHEESE."
The cashier read back what they had all ordered.
"And a CHEESEburger, with no CHEESE." Tre nodded, proud that he had gotten his point clear to her.

When they sat down, Tre shook his head.
"I said that's what I wanted. How did she not get it?" He asked them.
"Because, man, you wanted a hamburger. You asked for a cheeseburger." Mike told him.
"Cheeseburgers taste better." He said.
"Because of the cheese man." Mike said, rolling his eyes.
