KiNg-FoR-a-DaY!!!, chapter 2
I walked over to the booth that Billie Joe was in, and mentally prepared myself; he really had some effect on me.
I cleared my throat once I reached the table.
"May I take your order- o hi, Billie Joe. I didn't realize that was you." What could I say, I could be one sly bitch... ... .. I think.
He gave me a small smile that for once looked heartfelt.
"Oh, hey; Lauren, right?" he asked.
'Ow. That hurt.' I thought to myself. Nevertheless, I kept up a fake smile.
"Yeah. Um, where are Mike and Tre? They're usually always with you, or visa versa."
"Oh, they are... well I dunno, around I guess. I'm meeting Adie here."
Damn. This day just gets better and better, not that I expected him to just come in, gather me up in his arms, while taking the rose out of his mouth, and serenading me. Whooo... snap out of it!
"O cool. Well, would you like anything to drink?"
"Ehh, maybe just water right now; Coke for Adie. I already know that's what she'll get."
I nodded my head, hiding my real emotions quite well.
As I walked back to the counter, I saw Giselle pretending to read a magazine, while smiling, and avoiding laughing.
"Not a word Giselle," I said just barely keeping from laughing to myself. Giselle could do that. She could be a total bitch, but it wouldn't suck, it would just be funny.
"What, I was just going to say you're a wuss."
I looked at her with my mouth open.
"He has a girlfriend!"
"So, that's never stopped you before," She said, and once again, made me laugh.
I threw a dishrag at her from behind the counter.
"Ewww, what was that for! You should be nicer to your customers, I'll complain, I'll do it!"
I caught Billie Joe staring back at us, obviously drawn to my natural humor... ... sure, we'll go with that. Well, if was going to look at us, while we continued to annoy other customers, or well the one elderly couple sitting at table 9, I was going to make him laugh, or something or other.
Giselle had been pointing at me with the dishrag in her hand, and I snatched it from her quickly.
"Actually, Giselle, darling, you can't be a customer when you sit at the counter, complain and then read month old magazines, upside down!"
Giselle looked at me, and then at the magazine, and then back to me. Her mouth was open, and it slowly crept to a smile. She knew I beat her. I was nodding my head as she started to grab her purse.
"Uh huh," I started, "That's what I thought."
Giselle skipped off the barstool, while purposely scuffing the tile floor with her black boots. She stopped and looked back at me and smiled. I started to laugh again.
"Jerk.." I said as I threw the same dishrag at her and she simply let it hit the floor.
"Call me later." She said over her shoulder as the door behind her shut.
Once she was gone, I walked in front of the counter, and bent over to pick up the discarded rag. I didn't know at the time that a smiling Billie Joe, being a man, stole a peek...or two.
