Would You Be Mine?, chapter 27
"Hey sweetie, wake up" I heard Billie say. I opened my eyes and he was looking at me and smiled.
"Good morning" I murmured.
Billie placed a kiss on my nose.
"I've made breakfast. You wanna come?" he asked
I smiled and got out of bed.
When I sat down in the kitchen I realized Mel wasn't there.
"Where's Mel?" I asked.
"She left early this morning. She went back to Mike's house. That's all she said."
"She won't do anything stupid, will she?" I asked
"I don't think so. She's a smart girl." he said rubbing my back, "Don't worry."
"I just want them to be OK. They are like meant for each other. I don't want them to break up."
"I know"
"But I could kill Mike for breaking her heart. What did he think?"
"He didn't think at all. That's the problem."

It was already after noon when Billie and I decided to check if Mel and Mike are OK. So we drove to Mike's house.
We rang the door but no one answered.
"Let's check the back door." Billie said.
We went into the garden and the door was opened. But we heard no voices.
"I'm better calling Mel" I said sitting on the couch.
Billie nodded and went upstairs to check if everything's OK. It was pretty strange that the back door was opened but no one seemed to be at home.
I dialed Mel's number but she didn't hang up. Where was she?
"Fuck" I heard Billie yell from upstairs. I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"Billie?" I yelled approaching the stairs. Then Billie came to me.
"Don't get up there! Promise me! Don't get up there!" Billie said grabbing my arm. He had tears in his eyes. He was in a hurry.
"Billie what happened?" I asked now crying.
"No time for explanation. Just promise me not to get up there"
"OK" I said. Billie nodded and ran to the phone.
He called the ambulance.
"Hello... yes, emergency... my friend...I found him... blood... " was all I heard Billie say.
I was totally terrified. I didn't know what happened. But judging by Billie's face I was something bad. I cried even harder and sank to the ground. I put my hands in front my face. I wished this was a nightmare.
"Honey, please wait outside for the ambulance" Billie said taking me into his arms, "I need your help now. Mike needs you. I'll wait upstairs and look after Mike."
I looked at him and asked "What happened?"
Billie hugged me again and said: "I guess he tried to commit suicide.". He sobbed. Tears coming down his face. "There's blood everywhere, Sarah, blood" he said.
