I want to be on TV / the fabulous fantasy life of Hesta, chapter 3

I went off it when Stacey told me,

"You had no right, I didn't even ask you to find me a band, never mind Stokell's! What did you say to him? If you made it look like I'm desperate or that I still like him or anything then I am NOT happy"
"But Hesta darlin' you'd be great, I didn't say anything I shouldn't have"
"But I can do better than Stokell, much better"
"I think you'd look great in a band together, I can just imagine it now with the spotlight coming down on you two... "
"No"
"I'd come and watch you"
"No"
"Come on Hesta, you said yourself you've always wanted to play your songs, but you needed to be in a band to do that, you can do this"
"Stokell is not the way to go, and who said I was ready to reveal my songs to people? My songs are mine and are not ready to be exposed!"
"You played me some and they were great! What are you worried about? No one's going to laugh at you or tell you you're rubbish "
"That's not the point"
"Then what is it?"
"... .."
"Hesta"

She pulled her puppy dog face and gave me a big hug.

"I hate to argue with you, and besides, I'm doing you a favour"

It turned out to be one big favour. By ten o'clock the following morning Stokell had asked me to come along to a rehearsal for a try-out.

--------------------------------------------------------

The rehearsal turned out to be in the school's music room at lunch time. Sarah was a bit suspicious when I slinked off to the music department without her, but I got there without anyone's interrogation.
Stokell looked damn sexy in out uniform blue blazer and striped tie. He'd done his best to customise it with badges, skate shoes and a wristband. Harry looked his usual scruffy self with his matt mousy hair.

"Um... so what exactly is my try-out?"
"We thought we could just go through a few songs with you and see how it goes"
"Sounds fun... can I borrow your guitar?"

He was reluctant to hand it over, but he did so with a forced smile. This really was going to be fun.
I heartily sang and strummed my way through their entire set list, which consisted of four songs - two by Green Day, one by Blink 182 and the one Sam wrote, which they were thinking of ditching, seeing as he had pissed off with a Goth band. Stokell sat on the floor, apparently deep in thought the whole time I played, and Harry tried to keep up. By the end of the session, Stokell had a decided look on his face.
