Boulevard of Broken Dreams, chapter 11
4 DAYS LATER
TRE'S P.O.V.
Poor Billie and Mike. I mean Billie has been the one tortured by Adie and Bob, but Mike the most recent to add to the list. Billie was only kept overnight for observations, all they had to do was take the bullet out and put him in a sling and he was well to go. But Mike, on the other hand, had to have a blood transfusion (sounds familiar *rolls eyes) for all the blood he had lost. The doctors had to take him to surgery and remove one of his kidneys, because of the severity of damage to it. He has to take medication every day to assure his body runs good, but he should be able to still play the bass. Mike hasn't yet been released unlike Billie, who technically wasn't, because he has stayed here with Mike.
Billie's P.O.V.
My shoulder almost doesn't hurt anymore, it just hurts when I move it a certain way, but other than that, no pain. I have stayed here with Mike who is said to recover fully. I feel so bad about what happened. I feel as if it is my fault. He got shot, trying to save me while I was being a pussy and hiding my head against the wall.
"Mike," I asked innocently.
"Yeah," he answered as he repositioned himself showing obvious signs of pain.
"Have I said thank you yet?"
"Only about 10 times today and like I said why should you be sorry, you're not the one who shot me?"
"I know, but I can't help it, if not for me, you wouldn't be lying there right now"
"Billie," he rolled his eyes, " don't say that, you are my best friend and I would do anything for you. It's in my job description to help protect you."
I snickered; it's just like Mike to try to make a joke, and make people laugh, when in a bad situation, and with him in excruciating pain. He gazed at me with his bright blue eyes.
"Billie, come on cheer up...if anyone, I should be the one who's sad, but I know it is all going to be just fine."
"Yeah"
He just kinda gave up, he turned his head to look at Tre' who was on the other side of the bed. He shook his head and breathed deeply.
"I just don't know about him anymore," he whispered to Tre', thinking I wouldn't hear, but I did.
Mike's P.O.V.
Billie for some reason doesn't want to listen when I say not to worry and that everything will be ok. He is my best friend and I love him like my brother. He shouldn't be sad. I remember what thought ran through my head when I heard the first shot, just a couple of minutes after being woke up to be told Bob was outside the house. I thought Billie was dead, but when I yelled his name and entered the bathroom Billie was standing next to the door, with his face against the wall. He was scared and I knew it, I had to do something. I am glad I bought that gun, because I only fired one shot, and hit him in the neck, killing him...slowly. I looked at him squirm on the ground, before taking his final breath, when I remember my friend, was standing behind me, scared. I placed my hand on his shoulder, and felt him tense up and start shaking.
"Billie" I had said in a calm voice.
About that time I felt a sharp pain in my stomach and a wet feeling. I knew there had been two shots, and I only fired one... ... I had been shot... ... I kinda got feeling a little light headed, then I was out, and here I am now.
"Ok Mr. Dirnt, you can go home today, but remember you have to take this medicine twice a day with food," the doctor said looking at me with a serious glare.
"Ok, I will, thanks doctor."
"You're welcome, but as for you," he said turning to Billie, "stay out of trouble."
"Ok," Billie laughed, he still had the sling on his arm, his shoulder had not yet recovered enough to not use it.
When we all arrived home a chill ran down my spine, and I am pretty sure the same chill was going down Billie's because he was all wide eyed and breathing rapidly. I was the first to enter the house, Billie followed me, and Tre' followed him, shutting the door. I walked down the hallway leading into the leaving room when I heard the TV blaring. I stopped and turned around.
"Do you guys hear that."?
"Stay here guys, I'll go check it out," Tre' said, attempting to be the hero for once.
He walked in, before coming back out only to say there was no one in there. We just kinda shrugged our shoulders and forgot about it.
"Well, guys I am going to go to bed," Mike said as he slowly walked his way up the staircase to his bedroom.
"Night."
