When You Wish You had Forgotten..., chapter 2

Stopping at the signal, the girl tapped her foot. Mike smiled again.
"Umm... Amira?"
She turned. Mike felt himself turn red.
She looked different. Her hair wasn't streaked with color, and she was wearing noticeably less makeup. And, as Mike noticed with a flutter of his stomach, she was, if possible, even more beautiful.
Her eyes widened.
"Oh my god... Mike?!" She gave a small shriek and pulled him into a hug. "Oh my god... Mike!" She said into his ear, still hugging. "Wow. This is weird... " She pulled back, grinning. He smiled.
"Hey... So, uh... You look... Good," He stuttered. She laughed.
"You too. And oh, god, Green Day... It's really good. Really, really good. I made it to a concert a year ago. It was amazing," She kept grinning. He blushed deeper.
The light turned green, but Amira ignored it. He didn't know what to say. A few moments were left silent and both of them just watched each other.

"Hey... " Tre nudged Mike. "The new girl is looking at you... "
Mike sat up so fast Billie started laughing.
"Mr. Armstrong!" yelled Ms.DeAngelis. "Do you need something?"
"No, miss," He answered, still laughing.
"Then would you please stop. I'd rather not give you detention for the fifth time in a row... " She returned to the map pasted on the blackboard. "As you can see, Hannibal and his troops faced a massive problem... "
Mike had barely paid attention to the exchange. He was watching the girl's head. It was bent studiously over her notebook, taking extensive notes on what seemed to Mike, nothing at all. Fascinated, he continued to watch her. Once, she looked back, and both blushed and looked down at their desks.
After class, Mike took a deep breath and walked over to her. Nervously, he cleared his throat.
"Hi,"
She looked up and smiled. "Hey, uh, you're Mike, right?" He nodded and smiled back. "I'm Amira," She shook his hand firmly.
"Yeah, uh... Are you sitting with anybody for lunch?"
She grinned. "Nope," she answered. Her smile made his stomach turn.
"Great... Wanna sit with me and the guys?"
Still grinning, she nodded. He couldn't stop staring into her eyes. Black with flecks of green and brown, they held strange warmth that didn't let you look away.

And even now, 17 years later, he still couldn't break that spell.
"So, you heading to work?" he asked.
"Oh, uh, yeah... it's just down this way... "
"Hmm... Um... we're playing tonight, do you want to come?"
She grinned that same grin. "Yeah, that'd be really great."
Mike grinned back sloppily.
