A Blank Decision, chapter 5
Tre turned on the spot to face Billie again, then Billie closed his eyes as the car plowed into him. He heard shrieks and tires screeching. When he opened his eyes again the car was driving over Tre and attempting to drive off. He watched in horror as the car dissapeard from the scene.
"TRE! TRE!" Mike cried. He raced over to his mangeld body.
Billie wanted to move, but his legs seemed like they were made of lead. He couldn't bring himself to move even one step. Instead, he collapsed to his knees and started to cry. A crowd started to form around him, Mike, and Tre. 'Go away... Go away! ' Billie screamed inside his head. This was the last thing they needed...
Mike was holding Tre in his arms, he was still concious amazingly. He was rambeling on and on about how he told him so or how he knew he was right. Mike only told him to calm down as to not waste enegry, then realized he needed to call for ambulence. 'Billie Joe has my phone. ' he reminded himself. He turned in Billie's direction.
He looked a wreck, sitting on his knees with tears streaming his pale cheeks. He was getting soaked in the rain as well and Mike decided to go over to him. Mike set Tre down gently and got to his feet as Tre propped himself up on his elbow and watched him walk away.
"Don't leave me Mike!" Tre pleaded in agony.
"I'll be right back, I have to get Billie." Mike answered.
"No! Please... Don't leave me..." he begged. Then he blacked-out.
Billie watched causiouly as Mike approached him. He rose a little higher on his knees to get a better look, then sank down with the touch of Mike's hand on his shoulder. He felt a rough tug and found himself on his feet again walking to the scene. The next thing he knew he was looking straight at the blooden corpse of Tre.
"Yes. That's correct..." he heard Mike say. When he turned his head he saw that Mike was talking on his cell phone.
"Who's that?" he asked.
Mike flipped his cell phone shut and turned to Billie. "Ambulence."
Then he knelt down next to Tre and picked him up again. Billie watched with tears in his eyes, some falling from his cheeks and into the puddle of red tinted rain water around his feet. He looked at Tre and brought himself to examine what was wrong with him.
Tre's legs, by far, took the most damage. They were twisted and bleeding thouroghly into the stream of water. His torso was also bloodened, though not as much as the legs, and his shirt was torn. His arms, thank god, were prectically scratchless. A light went off in Billie's head as he scanned his friend's body.
"Mike, let me see your phone." he told him. Mike looked up and fumbled for his phone.
Taking it and smearing some water off, Billie dialed the number for home. It rang for awhile with no answer and he grew anxouis. When finally he was about to hang up, he heard Adrienne's sweet and calming voice on the other line.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Adi, it's me. Look... There's a problem here." he began.
"What's up?" she answered.
Billie struggled for the right words, "It's Tre. He sorta got... Umm..."
"Oh no, don't tell me he got his ass arrested again!" she shouted.
"No, actually... He got hit by a car." he sighed. Adrienne chuckeld on the other line. "I'm serious."
There was a long silence, broken by Adrienne after awhile. "Oh my god..."
"I know. But don't worry..." he calmed her as an ambulence pulled up. "Help is here. Just tell the kids, okay?"
"Okay hun. Bye."
"Bye."
He flipped the phone shut and handed it to Mike, who was backing away from the paramedics and standing to the right of him. They stood together and watched as Tre was loaded into the ambulence and police arrived. The cops got rid of the crowd and, shortly after, Mike and Billie were riding to the hospital in the back of the ambulence.
- And hour later -
Tre was snoring loudly in his hospital bed and Billie Joe was watching him calmly to make sure his chest was still rising and falling. Mike was in the bathroom down the hall, still washing the blood from his clothes and body. Just about the only noises were the annoying 'beep' of the heart monitor and Tre.
Billie leaned back in his chair and continued to look at Tre as Mike walked through the door. He sat down in a chair next to him and sighed, then turned his head to Tre as well. He had been bandaged and taken care of already, they were just waiting for him to wake up again.
Tre had both of his legs broken badly, the doctors asumed that was where the tires had run over the most. He had a few broken ribs and a broken collar bone to go along with those. But, like Billie had noticed, his arms were fine.
Mike yawned wide and stretched out. He poked Tre in the face on accident and woke him up. He poked him again. Tre groaned and grabbed his face, then rolled over to the other side of the bed. Even though he was awake, he obviously was in no mood to mess around.
"Hey buddy, you remember anything?" Billie asked softly. Tre rolled back over.
"Of course I do you fuckin idiot!" he replied.
"Okay then, it's the same old Tre." he joked. Then Tre got a strange look on his face, he looked like he had remembered the most important thing in the world.
"I remember on thing in particular though. And all I have to say is... I TOLD YA SO! Okay, I remember exactly who was driving the car, I believe he was tryin to kill me really. You can't laugh because I know it was him!" he told them.
"Who was it Tre?" Mike asked, concerened.
"Alright, the person who was driving the car was..." he began.
"TRE! TRE!" Mike cried. He raced over to his mangeld body.
