Vampires Will Never Hurt You., chapter 5
I woke early in the morning, the sunlight dazzling my as I opened my eyes. I peered out of my bedroom window, it was still drizzling slightly, but it seemed bright enough.
I walked over to the mirror and rubbed my eyes before examining my pale skin. I used the bathroom and dragged myself across to the room in which the guys were staying in.
I knocked on the door, receiving no answer so I tried again. Maybe they were still asleep. Or maybe they had left already like most of my guests do. I slunk silently down the stairs, hearing voices coming from the kitchen. The three men were sat around the wooden table. Mike was reading the newspaper as Tre and Billie Joe were fighting over something.
"Good morning," I yawned, entering the room and pouring myself a black coffee. "Would you like me to make you some breakfast?" I asked, noticing that they had either washed their dirty bowls, plates and cups or waited until I came down.
"That would be nice," Tre said as the other two leaned back in their chairs. Billie Joe still looked scared and Mike was deep in thought.
I turned to the cupboards and started getting out the ingredients to make pancakes.
"Pancakes alright for you?" I asked, still trying to sound cheery, even though I didn't really feel it.
"Yes!" Tre shouted in an exited tone.
"Err, ok," Billie said, leaning back further on the chair.
"Mike?" I said, waiting for a response.
"What? Oh, yeah, that's fine," Mike said, coming out of his trance for a split second to answer me.
I bustled around the kitchen, mixing the pancakes for a while as the three men sat around the table talking. Well, Billie Joe and Tre were talking, Mike was still deep in thought.
I placed three plates on the table, Tre dived for one straight away and started attacking it with a knife and fork. Billie Joe looked at it unsurely for a minute and then took the plate. Mike reached out and pulled the plate towards him thoughtfully.
I wonder what he was thinking about.
"I'm going to go and see if the cars working yet," Billie Joe said, standing up and putting his plate in the sink.
"Oh, I'll come too," Tre said, jumping up and down.
"I suppose I'll help you," Mike said, "Thank you for breakfast,"
The three of them headed outside and I turned to go upstairs into my bedroom again.
I stood at my window for a while, watching them as they examined the car.
~*~Outside~*~
"I just wish I could remember who that guy was!" Mike shouted, almost punching the car.
"What guy?" Tre asked, looking confused.
"The guy on the night that I was here, you know, the one I told you about," mike explained.
"You've been here before?" Tre questioned.
"Tre, were you listening to a word I was saying last night?"
"No, I thought you were telling a ghost story with the way you started: 'It was a dark and stormy night, very much like this one,' I just didn't want to get scared,"
"Never mind Tre," Mike said, turning away from him and sitting on the curb. "Come on Mike," he said to himself, pulling at his hair.
"Do you know what he looked like?" Billie Joe asked.
"Uh, he was short. Probably your height Billie," Mike said.
"Anything else? Hair colour?"
"I think it was darkish, but I can't remember, it was a long time ago. And Tre had been feeding me alcohol, but he decided to run and hide because of the lightening,"
"Hey! No, I didn't!" Tre protested.
"Well where were you then?" Mike asked.
"I was hiding in my car,"
"Hiding from what?" Billie Joe asked.
"Bigfoot. I thought I saw him trying to hide behind a very thin tree. Turns out it was a thick tree that was oddly deformed,"
"I don't get how your mind works, Tre" Billie said, turning back to Mike.
"Did he say anything to you?"
"He was shouting, telling me to get off him, I can't remember exactly. I can remember he had an American accent though,"
"What help does that give us though?" asked Tre.
"Dude, we're in England. It narrows it down a bit, most of the people here have cool English accents,"
"Apart from the French," Tre pointed out, "And German and-"
"Tre, are you going to shut up?"
"FINE!" Tre said, pretending to look upset, before hopping into the car and trying the keys in the ignition.
Several minutes later, Tre still hadn't got the car started.
Mike looked up into the sky, noticing it was grey. "Fuck, more storms," he said as a droplet of rain landed on his nose.
"Does that mean we have to stay here again?" Billie asked, his eyes wide.
"Well, there's no where else for miles, so if Sophia will let us then yes,"
"Oh,"
"Billie, she wont attack you!" Mike said
"Can you be sure?"
"No, but I don't think she will,"
"If you say so," A clap of thunder sounded as a flash of lightening illuminated the sky and the havens opened.
"Maybe it will be over by tonight, I mean it's like only 1 o'clock now,"
"Yeah, maybe... " Mike said thoughtfully.
"Cool! If we stay tonight, can we play detectives!" Tre shouted.
"Actually, that's not a bad idea, maybe we could find clues to who this mystery person is... You up for it Mikey?" Billie asked.
"What? Oh, yeah, alright then,"
