Family Man, chapter 3
At school the next day, Katie met up with Matt, "Hey matt, whats up babe?"
"Nothing much. How abouts you baby?" Matt replied
"Ugh, nothing, my life is a complete bore."
"Oh. I see. Um, well I told my mom about you and she wants to meet you, could you come over to my place for supper tonight?" Matt asked.
"I guess. I'll have to call my mom about it though. I'll be right back." Katie replied as she walked into the girls bathroom. She pulled out her cell phone and dialed the number, "Hi, mom? Its Katie. I was wondering if I could go to a friends place for supper tonight?"... "I'm pretty sure, they said that their mom wanted to meet me"... "Yeah its a new person at school"..." Yeah. You'll tell dad that I don't need a ride home?"... "Yeah. I'll talk to you later." Katie said and hung up the phone. Katie walked out of the bathroom and to her next class, Chemistry. She sat beside Erika, "Hey chicka, whats up?" Katie said.
"Hey dollface, nothing much. Ugh, I really don't want to do this test." Erika replied.
"We have a test?" Katie asked.
"Um.. Yeah, he's been droning on about it for ages, don't you pay attention?"
"Do I look like I pay attention?" Asked Katie who pulled out her Chem binder, which was full of scribbles and all sorts of doodles, the most recent one was a heart with her and Matt's name in it.
"You really like him, don't you?" asked Erika, pointing at the heart.
"He's adorable. And so punk rock." Katie replied.
The teacher, Mr. Deenik, walked in and started the class, "Now, class, you'll all be doing a test today. I hope you've all been taking notes. I remember when I was in college we had to take notes every day, and the teacher didn't even give us the luxury of telling us what to write down, and one person in my class would refuse to take notes and he failed..." Mr Deenik droned on, in his usual boring tone of voice, as he handed out the tests. Katie got her test and started right away.
*At the Armstrong House*
Adrienne got up and answered the phone, she reconized the phone number as Katie's cell phone, "Hello?"... "Is it ok with their paernts?"... "I'm so glad that your making new friends honny"... "Sure"... "Ok bye Katie." Adrienne hung up the phone.
"Katie is making new friends?" Asked Billie Joe from the other room.
"Yeah. She's eating supper over at their place tonight, so you only have to pick Joey up from school today." Adrienne replied. "Right." Said Billie Joe, and he turned back to the television.
Adrienne sat beside Billie Joe, "You know baby, this is a good time for some lovin. Jakob is playing outside with some of his friends and we have the house to ourselves." She gave Billie Joe a seductive look.
"Grrrrr." Billie Joe growled at his wife, "What do you think we should do?"
Adrienne got up and walked toward the stairs. She turned around and signaled for Billie Joe to follow her.
"That was amazing Addi" Billie Joe said out of breath.
"I know." Adrienne said looking over at a sweaty Billie Joe. She leaned over and put her arm around him. Just the Jakob burst into the room.
Billie Joe was glad that he had put his boxers back on and that they had a sheet to cover themselves. "Hey champ." Billie Joe said beaming to Jakob.
"Hi daddy!" Jakob said as he scrambled onto the bed and sat between his father and mother.
"Whats up buddy?" Said Adrienne.
"I'm hungry."
"Well I'll go fix you some lunch. How does that sound?" Adrienne said.
"Sounds yummy." Said Billie Joe, and Jakob together.
"I'll go get something ready. Jakob, can mommy get dressed first?" Adrienne asked.
"Yeah, I have to go potty anyway." Jakob replied.
Billie Joe laughed, "I'll be down in a second."
Adrienne got dressed and went down stairs. Billie Joe pulled on his black button up shirt and pants. He put one some clean socks. He walked past his dresser and stopped. He noticed a picture that he hadent noticed in a long time. It was a picture they took a few moths ago when Green Day had a few days off, and they all took a trip to the beach. They were standing in front of a sand castle that they had all built. Joey was doing a strong man pose and Jakob was in the front. Katie was standing right beside Billie Joe, Billie Joe had his arm around Adrienne, and his daughter. They were all dressed in beach wear. Joey and Jakob wearing tropical beach shorts, and Billie Joe wearing black shorts, Katie had on her yellow and green bikini, and Adrienne was wearing a blue and dark purple bikini. They were all smiling. They had gotten a tourist from Germany to take the photograph. Billie Joe thought to himself, "I am the luckiest man in the world." And he walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
