80 (Adie Please Keep Taking Me Away), chapter 5
Billie Joe tried to sleep while they drove to there next show, but he kept on tossing and turning. He wanted Adrienne back in his arms. It felt like she was so far away he just wanted to be with her. Suddenly Billie Joe thought of a song in his head.
"I sit alone in my bedroom staring at the walls. I've been up all damn night long." Billie Joe said to himself.
"Even though I'm not in my bedroom, but for the past month it kind of has." he wrote it down. Every time he thought of Adrienne his heart was speeding, but at a speed he liked.
"My pulse is speeding. My love is yearning."Billie Joe said to himself. He wrote that down as well. He wrote down some other stuff. He still couldn't think of a way to express how far away it felt she was. Billie Joe just sat there and thought of Adrienne.
"Hey that's not bad. I hold my breath and close my eyes and dream about her." Billie Joe said to himself.
"Man it seems like she's.....hm........ um...." Billie Joe thought for a few minutes.
"2000 LIGHT YEARS AWAY!" Billie Joe screamed.
Mike jumped up. "What the hell are you doing it's 4:30 in the morning." said Mike looking at his watch.
"Sorry um I think I wrote a song." said Billie Joe.
"Whatever tell me when normal people are awake." said Mike half asleep.
"Cause she's 2000 light years away." Billie Joe said as he wrote that down on a piece of paper.
Billie Joe had about half of a song he finally fell asleep around 5 in the morning. He fell asleep thinking about Adrienne.
About an hour later they stopped to get some gas and to take a little break. Billie Joe went in the gas station and bought a doughnut. He sat at a picnic table and ate his doughnut. He couldn't stop thinking about Adrienne. The sun was starting to come up now.
"I sit outside and watch the sunrise. Lookout as far as I can. I can't see her." said Billie Joe as we wrote that down. He wanted to put something else, but it wasn't happening. He thought about last night at StarBucks. He remembered when they were kidding around about Tre, he remembered Adrienne's laugh it was the best laugh he had ever heard. It seemed so realistic it was like Adrienne was there with him, but she wasn't there he couldn't see her. Then something came to Billie Joe.
"I can't see her, but in the distance, I hear some laughter, we laugh together." Billie Joe said as he wrote that down as well. Billie was sure he had a song. When he was singing it to himself Tre was behind him.
"What are you doing!" said Tre scaring the shit out of Billie Joe.
"Give me a fucking heart attack Tre." said Billie Joe catching his breath.
"Sorry. Um where you talking to yourself?" asked Tre.
"No I was singing this song to myself that I wrote." said Billie Joe.
"Oh I see so you weren't talking to yourself you were singing to yourself. It all makes sense to me now." said Tre.
"I'm glad." said Billie Joe.
"Here Tre tell me what you think of this." Billie Joe said handing Tre the tablet of paper. Tre read over it.
"It's really good. Is that about that girl Adrienne from last night?" asked Tre.
"Yes." said Billie Joe.
"Aw that's so cute you wrote a song about her." said Tre.
"Dude Tre, Adrienne is amazing I can't wait to see her again. I don't know when I will, but I will I'm going to make this relationship work. I've never felt this way about a girl before, actually I've never felt this way before at all." said Billie Joe.
"I can tell." said Tre.
"Well I hope it works out." said Tre.
"Me too." said Billie Joe "I'm going to make it."
"Billie Joe, Tre we really have to get going." said Mike coming up to them.
"Billie Joe wrote another song." said Tre "It's really good."
"I wanna see it in the van." said Mike.
"Okay." said Billie Joe.
