The Titleless Story, chapter 13

>Lindsey's POV<
I did the best thing I could do. I ran. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Last time I knew, it was 1:30 am. Nobody was on the sidewalks. It would be too weird to see a young girl running down the street in a red dress, with makeup smearing her face. I slowed down and looked down at my feet. Yet again, I was barefoot. It felt good though. Even though winter was still quite a ways away, it was kind of chilly. I heard footsteps, but I tuned them out.
"Lindsey, is that you?" I heard an almost familiar voice coming up in front of me. I looked up only to see my long lost friend Jason. I bit my lip in frustration, that this was just not the right time.
"What's wrong?" he asked putting a hand on my shoulder. I took a deep breath and stood up strait, only to be shuttered by the cold.
"Here, take my coat," He pulled of his and wrapped it around me. How nice, my husband of less than five hours has already cheated on me, and I bump into my high school friend, the one who had a crush on me. He smiled weakly and put an arm around me, walking me towards a still open coffee shop.
"Don't worry, I own this one," he laughed and opened the door. It tingled and a waitress at the register turned around to see who was coming in. She was quite attractive, tall, and slim but full, shoulder length blonde hair, and glowing green eyes. She waved happily at Jason and he raised his hand in a hello. The girl winced at me and then widened her eyes in surprise.
"Lindsey? Is that you?" she asked taking off her apron and hopping over the counter. She ran up to me and hugged me tightly.
"Lindsey! It's Ceira!" She said cheerfully. I thought about it and then remembered.
"Oh, from high school," I said quietly. She nodded and looked at Jason.
"Still trying Jason?" she asked putting a hand on her hip. I rolled my eyes and looked around.
"So what's the matter?" she asked going around the counter again. I looked down at my feet that were slightly gray. Jason put an arm around me and led me to the chairs at the bar. Ceira put her elbows on the corner and put her head in her hands.
"Oh, Lindsey, the one who's always dealing with the drama of life. What is it this time? Boyfriend got you down?" she asked turning around and getting a mug down from the shelf. I sighed and undid my clipped hair. It waved down and hit my back softly. I sighed and looked down.
"It was our wedding day and he had to ruin it by getting drunk and making out with another girl at the reception," I started. Jason widened his eyes and dropped his arm from my back. "And when I saw him in the lobby, he tried saying he was sorry, and everybody started yelling and screaming until he crossed the line." Ceira dropped the mug and it crashed on the ground. She spun around and stared at me with surprised eyes.
"You got married?" she asked with somewhat confusion. I nodded and she put a hand on her waist. "To who?" she asked with total confusion in her voice. I gulped and but my lip.
"... Um, Joey Larson," I sighed. Even saying his name made me upset. She opened her mouth slightly and put a smile on.
"Joey, the class-clown? Oh my God Lindsey, I thought you could do better than that," she said looking from the somewhat choked up Jason and the depressed me. I sighed and looked down at the chattered porcelain on the tile ground.
"Yeah... I thought I could too," I sighed. She dropped her arms and leaned against the counter.
"What exactly happened Lindsey?" she asked and this made Jason turn slightly so he could hear my story. I took a breath and let it out slowly, calming myself down. I wiped away my tears and looked up at them.
"It all started when Minni moved back,"

>Trey's POV<
Madness. You know how it is, crazy and demented. Nothing could prepare us for this outcome. Even though Joey's words were strong and hurtful, he had a point. If it wasn't for Joey, Lindsey could have been hurt badly, and nobody would be there to help her. I felt so bad about what I said too. But Nikki assured me it had to be said. We had no idea of to where Lindsey or Joey was. But one thing was for sure; they needed each other.

>Lindsey's POV<
After telling my life's story from July 12th 2004 to November 14th 2006, I had to do some thinking. Ceira had given me a change of clothes and some shoes for me to wear. It was so cold outside and I wished I had taken Jason's jacket with me. I was walking down the side of the pier. None of sea shops were open, but I saw my good friend Captain George sitting on his usual seaside bench. He smiled when he saw me. I sat next to him and he threw some more bread-crumbs at the seagulls that crowded around him.
"How's life Lindsey?" he asked. As many of years I've known him, he still had it in him.

I had known George since I was 11. I had stumbled across this place when I ran away from home for the first and last time. He had been much younger then. I would come here all the time when I had a problem or a serious issue that was going on in mind. There were the occasional visits where I would just sit there, and he knew what was wrong.

This was an exception.

"Honey, whatever it is, it's bringing you down, and it seems that the more you worry about it, the more depressed you get. I can tell that something happened with Joey, so don't hide it Lindsey," his words were so precious, so right on the dime. Why was he so smart?
"How... " I started folding my arms in front of me.
"Your ring is missing," he said throwing more bread. I gasped slightly and realized that I wasn't wearing it anymore, as I had thrown it at him before I ran off. I nodded slowly and He patted my leg.
"You're a strong woman Lindsey, you've matured so much over the years and the more and more you came to visit me, the happier the stories would get, I know that you can work through this, and you will come back with a new story, maybe of your children." He smiled at the last part. I sighed softly and put my hand on my stomach, I wasn't sure if it was Joey's or not, but considering Minni knew, she might of told him when I left. He was sure to know that I was pregnant. And judging by the mood he was in, he probably thought it wasn't his. But what if it was? How was I ever going to tell him? He would rub it in my face, or maybe even just leave me to deal with it. I couldn't tell whether he loved me or not. I bit my lip and let the tears stream down my face.
"Don't worry Lindsey, he'll come around,"

>Joey's POV<
Stupid fuck. That's me. I trusted her and she let me down. But I let her down too. But what she did was far worse. I only kissed, well made out with a girl, she had sex. Oh boy, where did I go wrong? But I guess that's just the luck of Joey Larson.
"Your really letting it get to you Joey," Nick, the bartender at the restaurant I had proposed to was cleaning a glass behind the bar I was sitting at. We had gone into this deep conversation when he saw that I was alone on my wedding night, or honeymoon morning. Either way, I wasn't with Lindsey, that's what worried him. I sighed and took another sip of my coffee.
"Whatever, I sighed. He shook his head and threw the rag over his shoulder.
"It sickens me that while your sitting here all depressed, she is probably in more pain than you are," he started turning to put the glass away. "Why aren't you out there looking for her?" he started. He turned on the radio and it was just starting a new song.
"Whatever happened, needs to be fixed," he said before the lyrics started.

I confess, I'm just messed up, dropping "I'm sorry" like your still around
And I know you dressed up, said "hey kid you'll never live this down".

"You won't get another chance, Joey," he said, trying to distract me from the music.

You're just the girl all the boys want to dance with,
And I'm just the boy who's had too many chances.
I'm sleeping on your folks' porch again, dreaming,
She said, she said, she said, "Why don't you just drop dead?"

Nick shook his head and turned his back. I directed my attention back towards the music.

I don't blame you for being you, but you can't blame me for hating it.
So say, what are you waiting for? Kiss her, kiss her.
I set my clocks early cause' I know I'm always late.

Why was this turning out to sound like Lindsey and I?

Write me off, give up on me, cause' darling what did you expect?
I'm just off a lost cause a long shot, don't even take this bet.

I don't blame you for being you, but you can't blame me for hating it.
So say, what are you waiting for? Kiss her, kiss her.
I set my clocks early cause' I know I'm always late.

Why was it that songs just always made you think, and then realize what you had to do? Curse you Fall Out Boy...

>Nobody's POV<
Lindsey stood there looking down at her reflection in the icy water. Should she? But, if the baby was Joey's, She could never forgive her self. What Lindsey was unaware of was that someone was watching her.
"You know, nothing can keep us separated Lindsey," Frank appeared from the shadows with a lit cigarette in his mouth. Lindsey jumped a little, but enough for her to fall into the water. Frank stepped forward and stared at her, drowning as the waves crashed over her.
"See you in hell Lindsey So-Called-Larson," he spat before turning his back. Lindsey kept her drowning self above water by holding onto a nearby rock. It wasn't that much help, as the waves still took her under for a moment. But when she was above water, she would scream, hoping anybody, even Joey would come and save her and her baby.

>Joey's POV<
I was walking down the side of the pier when I heard it, Lindsey screaming. At first I ignored it, thinking I imagined it. A second time the scream rang out, directed to anybody who walked above the pier. I looked over the edge and saw nothing, only waves crashing on the rocks. I watched the waves until they revealed the drenched hazel hair of Lindsey. I gasped and ran down the slanted part of the pier that led to the docks where Lindsey was. Once she saw me and immediately attempted to put out a hand, but the waves came back taking her under. I stared at her with disgust. She was so easy to ask for forgiveness. I squatted so I could see her holding her breath under water. She had one hand on her stomach. When she came up, she breathed in heavily, gasping for air.
"... Joey... Please," she was pleading to me. I shook my head and stood up.
"Why should I help you? Just so you can use me like that again?" I spat. Stupid. I talked without thinking again. I mentally kicked my self when I saw the worried expression on her face. I bit my lip, but then winced at her.
"... Joey, I didn't... " the waves took her under another moment. I turned my back to walk away.
"... Joey! The baby... It's yours... " her words were sloshed by a giant wave crashing into the pier, it made sprinkles crash onto my body. I ran to the edge to see Lindsey gone. I took off my jacket and shoes and jumped into the water without taking any more time up. I swam around desperately trying to find any signs of her. I went under the water and looked around for anything. I looked down and saw her, eyes closed, one hand on her stomach, and another reaching out for help. I swam deeper and deeper under the water to grab a hold of her. I grabbed her hand and pulled her close to my now pounding heart. I dragged her to the surface, gasping for air when I felt the cold air against my face. I swam dragging her with me to the dock. I pulled her and myself onto the soaked wooden pier. I nearly fainted right there. I breathed in heavily and turned to look at Lindsey. I crawled over and rolled her over.
"Common' Lindsey," I yelled. No answer, just the sound of the ever-increasing wind that bellowed against our drenched bodies. I leaned over her and tried to do CPR. I came back after giving all I could. I listened to her heart. It was slowly starting to beat. I breathed faster as I grew more and more anxious. I had yet to see her take a breath.
"Common' 1... 2... 3... Breath," I whispered.

>Lindsey's POV<
"Breath" was all I heard when I opened my eyes and nearly choked on the lack of air in my lungs. Right next to me was apparently soaked Joey. He was flustered and was struggling to catch is breath. He gazed into my eyes, but quickly looked away. I closed my eyes and turned my head back to looking up. I opened my eyes and looked up at the overcast sky. I sighed and looked at Joey in the corner of my eyes. He was holding my ring and silently crying to himself. I blinked slowly and turned my head to catch his attention. He looked up and his eyes were giving mixed signals. Emotions of, love, anger, misery, and aguish. He sighed and closed his eyes. I couldn't feel more confused. My heart was broken, but I still loved him. I opened my eyes when I heard him crawling over to me. He bent over and kissed me lightly on the lips. I couldn't tell what he was thinking. He pulled away and helped me up. Once I was standing, he gave me his jacket and cell phone. I looked up to say something, but saw no one. He had left me there, cold and drenched. But most importantly, confused. I dialed the one person I could trust right now.
"Hello?"
"Hey Jason? I need a ride,"

>Jason's POV<
This was amazing. I meet up with my high school crush, and she's married. Yet again, I've lost my chance. I found her by the pier shivering and hair drenched.
"Funny, I don't remember it raining," I said to myself aloud. She looked at me and shook her head. She sniffled and blinked a couple of times before speaking.
"He came back, and pushed me in the water," she aid so suddenly. I looked at her with surprised eyes.
"Who?" I asked stepping towards her. She sniffed and closed her eyes.
"Frank," she started crying softly. "But then Joey came and nearly let me drown. He helped me, but all he did afterwards was kiss me and leave me. I'm so confused Jason," by the end of her sentence, she was crying her life out in my arms. I held her close, and rocked her slightly side to side. She hushed down after a while and I took her back to the coffee shop.

Ceira was there waiting with two cups of coffee and a blanket. I had called her in the car when Lindsey had fallen asleep. I sighed as I carried her in side. Ceira jumped at the sight of her and ran over to help.
"What the hell happened to her?" she whispered quite loudly, I shook my head and placed her on the mattress we kept in the back office.
"I'll explain later," I whispered back. I set Lindsey down gently on the bed and Ceira changed her into dry clothes.
"Aren't you glad you hired me Jason?" she asked walking out of the room. Lindsey was now awake, sitting up in bed. I smiled at her and she wrapped her arms around herself. I walked over and sat down next to her. She smiled as I wrapped the blanket around her.
"Thanks Jason," she whispered before lying back down I stood up and tucked her in. I watched her with her eyes closed before leaning forward and kissing her lightly on the forehead. She smiled and drifted off to a much-needed sleep.

>Trey's POV<
"You what?" I yelled at Joey. He stepped back and backed into a wall. I shook my head at him.
"Your telling me that you found Lindsey drowning in the water and after you saved her, you left? What the fuck were you thinking Joey? You are so fucking stupid sometimes!" I shouted putting a hand to my forehead. He slid down the wall and sat there on the ground. He sighed and looked up.
"I'm so confused Trey," he started. I leaned forward and widened my eyes.
"Of coarse you are Joey! But you just leaving her there, she's probably confused too! What is wrong with your mind?" I asked picking up my jacket.
"Where are you going?" he asked standing up. I rolled my eyes and leaned to one side.
"You've had your chance to find her Joey, but now, if your too fucking stupid to help her, then someone's got to do it." I sighed. He bit his lip and looked down. I opened the door and stood in the doorway.
"Common' your coming too," he sighed and walked out with me.

>Lindsey's POV<
"Hey guys, looks like we've got company!" Ceira yelled from behind the counter. She widened her eyes when the door chimed. I wasn't facing the door so I had no idea what was going on.
"Hey, um have you seen... " I instantly recognized Trey's voice. I dropped my coffee mug and shot around. Right there standing in the door way was Trey and Joey. Trey elbowed Joey and he looked up to see me. Everything was silent until Jason came around the corner.
"Hey, what's with... " he stopped and took a look at everybody. I took a step back and leaned myself against the counter. "Oh shit," Jason sighed and stood strait.
"Lindsey," Trey started. Joey stepped forward and looked at me with a scary look. I closed my eyes hoping this was all a dream.
"What are you doing here Lindsey," he asked. It scared me so much that he sounded like Frank. Luckily Jason talked for me.
>Trey's POV<
"Why do you care? You left her there at the pier, soaked and confused! No wonder she called me for help!" the guy standing next to Lindsey was strangely familiar.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Joey spat at him. The guy eyed Joey oddly and then put his hands on his waist.
"Wait, is that you Jason?" I asked taking a step. He nodded and another person walked around the corner. She as well looked familiar.
"Trey?" she asked standing next to Jason. I raised an eyebrow and then realized who she was.
"... Ceira?" I asked taking a gulp. She ran over and slapped me hard across the face. I winced in pain and faced her. She put her hands on her waist and stood on her tiptoes.
"What's this I hear about you dating Nikki? Uh? My own sister doesn't even tell me that she's dating my ex?" Oh boy, here we go...
