The Titleless Story, chapter 16

Yellow. That's all I saw when I woke up. I big fat yellow sticky stuck to my forehead. I sat up and tore it off my forehead.

Hey. Use this to pop the balloons.

It wasn't signed, but I knew whom it was from. At the bottom, a needle was taped down. I tore it off and wondered what balloons. When I opened my closet, a balloon flew out. I took the needle and popped it, as I was curious. Two things floated out, a note and a picture.

Drive to the 7-Eleven and ask for Mike, he'll give you you're next balloon.

The picture was of Trey and I on separate sides of a bench, eyeing each other out of the corner of our eyes. Right smack dab in the middle of us was my sister Ceira with her arms swung around us, madly smiling. How sweet. On the back, another note.

Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you.
You are my only one.

There you go. Win your girlfriend's heart back by quoting her favorite love songs. Seriously, he put some thought into this. He deserves some credit.

When I arrived at the 7-Eleven, Mike was at the corner in his uniform. When he saw me, he smiled broadly and turned to open a little box. In it was a little key.
"Use it to open the locker," he pointed to a locker in the back and I nodded. "Oh, and say "hi" to Trey for me," I smiled and kissed his forehead before heading towards the back of the store. Yet again another balloon floated out of the locker. I took the needle out of my pocket and popped it. Another note and picture fell into my hands.

Head down to the restaurant where Joey proposed to Lindsey at and find Nick at the bar. He'll have the next one.

This time, the picture was Trey and I dancing on the park's basketball court in the rain. It was a few days after Ceira and him broke up. I smiled slightly and turned it over to find more lyrics.

The drops of rain they fall all over, this awkward silence drives me crazy.
The glow inside burns inside her,
I'll try to kiss you if you let me.

At least he's using his own band's material. I waved to Mike who was sitting at the counter drinking a slurpy.

At the restaurant Nick was at the bar obviously waiting for me. He smiled as I walked over.
"Here," he handed me a clear balloon and I smiled at him.
"Thanks, but do you know what this is all about?" he smiled and laughed slightly but did not answer me. Instead he shook his head and pulled his finger over his lips as if to say, "my lips are sealed" I laughed and popped yet another balloon.

Remember our first date? Go down to the docks and to the ice- cream shop at pier 14. George will be there with your next balloon.

The picture was even better. It was Trey sitting on his bed with a heating pad on his chest and me shaking throat pills out of a container. That day he had lost his voice, and I had to take care of him. More lyrics were on the back.

Now I cannot speak, I've lost my voice.
Speechless and redundant, cause' "I love you" is not enough,
I'm lost for words.

Pier 14. I haven't been here in a long time. Three years to be exact. I walked over to the old man Lindsey and I knew as George. He smiled and handed me an ocean blue balloon.
"You're a lucky gal, Nikki," I smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you George." He sighed and then put a hand on my shoulder.
"By the way, go to the edge of the pier before popping it." I nodded and walked down the boardwalk until I reached the edge. I looked at the balloon that floated as it stayed firmly in my hand. With one swift movement I popped it and revealed another note and picture.

Boardwalk of Memories.

A single tear escaped my eye and remembered what he called it before we shared our first kiss here, actually in this very spot. The picture made me smile even more. It was Trey sprawled out on my bed like a starfish; too much cider on New Years. I laughed to myself as I read the lyrics on the back.

Keep Quiet. Nothing comes as easy as you. Can I lie in you bed all day?
I'll be your best-kept secret and your biggest mistake.

Before I knew it I felt a tapping on my shoulder. When I turned around, Trey was standing there with a balloon in his hand. He smiled and handed it to me. I popped it with ease and to my surprise, a whole flock of photos came floating out, each one of him and myself. I gazed in amazement as they fell to the boardwalk. Trey dug in his pockets and pulled out one last picture. It was New Years Day, 2004. Apparently, we had been caught kissing in the hallway by Joey. But, we didn't care. All our emotions showed threw that one picture; that one memory and that one kiss. I turned it over and saw yet another lyric.

Lying in my bed, I hear the clock tick and think of you.
Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new.
Flashback, warm nights, almost left behind,
Suitcases of memories, time after time...

I looked up at him and he smiled unsure of my reaction. He dug into another pocket and exposed another note. As I was reading it he fell to one knee.

So, will you marry me?

I dropped the note and fell to my knees as well. He gazed into my eyes for a second and I nodded. He pulled me into one of his famous bear hugs. Brandon had his eyes, Joey had his smile, but Trey had the warmth of his hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he pulled slightly away.
"I love you so much Nikki," He smiled and stood up with me. With out letting me respond, he kissed me so with more passion than all our previous kisses combined.
"I love you too," I whispered as we pulled away. We rested our foreheads against each other and gazed into each other's eyes. What startled us were the flash of a camera and the sound of a Polaroid coming out. We both directed our attention to the group that stood a few feet away from us. Lindsey and Joey holding hands, and Brandon holding Minni's shoulder's as she held the camera in one hand, and the developing picture in the other. He grabbed my hand and stared at the picture. I smiled at the outcome of it. He turned it around and started writing.

What saved us from ourselves.

*1 Year Later*

>Lindsey's POV<
Can you believe it? Everything was back to normal. It was the happiest I'd ever seen anyone. Nikki and Trey were married later in January and Joey and I redid ours as well. This time, we went low on the champagne, for all our sakes. Minni and Joey were engaged as well, but it was funny that we thought they would be the first one of us to marry. And yet again here I was, pregnant with a baby boy. Ready for it as I had had enough of all this pain. I sat there in the hospital bed reading a magazine when I felt our little baby coming. Joey was sleeping in a chair next to the bed with his arms limp over the sides of the arm rests, and his head back, mouth open, drooling as usual.
"Joey!" I whispered as loud as I could. He jumped at this and fell back, out of the chair. I had no time to laugh at this. This was it. Baby was coming, and there was no stopping it.
"Brandon! Get a doctor!" Joey yelled, which made Brandon shoot up and run out the door. A second later a doctor, two nurses and the rest of the gang came running threw the door. They all situated around me and Joey sat next to me on the hospital bed, where he held my hand tightly. And he's not the one who has to deal with the pain.
"Oh, boy... Here it comes," I screamed. Joey rubbed my back affectionately and whispered "I love you's" and "one more push's" into my ear. I didn't believe that one until I head the doctor say that.
"Ok, here he is!" with one more push out came Mr. Baby and I put my head back in relief.
"No more, Joey." I sighed. Minni giggled and so did Joey.
"Ok, not for a while at least." He said as they brought our new bundle of joy to us. I smiled and felt a tear escape my eye.
"He looks like you," I said pointing to the dark brown hair on his head. Joey smiled and pointed at his eyes.
"Yeah, but he's got your eyes." He was right. The same shade of turquoise blue, with that one little spec of ocean blue in the right eye. Our new baby boy looked up at us like we were aliens and shifted his eyes from Joey to me. This made Joey laugh, witch made the baby smile lightly.
"He's got your smile at least," I sighed. Joey nodded and licked his fingertips.
"What are you doing?" I asked pulling the baby a little away from him.
"Just close your eyes," I sighed and rolled my eyes before closing them. When I opened them back up, Joey sat there with the baby in his arms, except our little baby had a new fauxhawk just like his dad.
"You are so funny," I said sarcastically. He laughed and the baby smiled.
"So what to call our new little punk?" he asked putting an arm around the baby and I.
"I don't know really," I thought about it, but nothing came to mind. He looked at me then at the baby.
"How bout', Jason, our savior." He said with a laugh.
"Our savior of what?" I asked tilting my head to one side.
"Our savior with a cup of coffee in his hand," he laughed. I couldn't help but laugh and nod. Joey raised his finger in the air and straitened up so he looked like a British man.
"I now dub you, sir Jason Larson," he said in a phony British accent. I laughed at him and He smiled as he leaned forward and kissed Jason's tiny little forehead. He looked at me and kissed me too. I laughed against his lips and he held Jason and I close. I now had everything I ever needed in life. A loving husband who acts like he's 16 and plays the drums, a little baby boy named after our "savior of coffee", and four best friends who would always be there.

>Brandon's POV<
I looked down at Minni who was standing next to me. She was looking down at her reflection in the water. She smiled at me in the water. She looked up as well and stared into my eyes.
"You know, this is where I found you that time you ran away," I started. She nodded and I linked our hands together.
"This is the way it was meant to be Brandon," she said as she closed her eyes. I nodded to myself and stared out into the horizon line. The sun was barely visible now.
"So? Do you have a word for this?" I asked laughing slightly. I felt her giggle and she opened her eyes.
"I'm not really sure, but I think I have an idea," she turned to me and I turned to her.
"Shoot," I replied. She smiled and leaned forward. I kissed her gently and she smiled against my lips. When she pulled away, we gazed into each other's eyes like the day we met.
"Poprocks and Coke," I thought about it and realized what it meant. I put an arm around her waist and she rested her head on my shoulder. I rested my chin on hers and let the words flow into my head.
"Wherever you go, you know I'll be there... "

***ok, in order to get the ending, you have to know that the original title was Poprocks and Coke, but then I changed it... ;P***
