Fame, Fortune, and Green Day, chapter 14
Bee awoke the next morning to an empty room. At first she was worried but then she remembered that Billie, Mike and Tre had to fly to Pittsburg to play at the football season kick-off. He'd be home at around noon tomarrow. She got up, put on a robe and went to make the bed and found a small note on her pillow.
"At 7:30 put on channel 122 to watch us at the kick-off, and have fun telling all your friends you're engaged :) " the note read. She laughed and then walked over to the phone to call Laura.
"Hello?" Laura said grogily. It was 8:30 and Laura didn't usually wake up until around 10 when Mike wasn't home.
"Morning sunshine."
"Bee? Why the fuck are you calling me before 10."
"Awww don't tell me you forgot about the meeting with our manager?" Bee said, even though the meeting wasn't until 4.
"That's at foooouuuurrr."
"I know, but Billie left me his credit card so I figured we could go out to eat."
"I don't like food."
"LIAR! You like food as much as you like Mike so get your ass ready and I'll be there in a half hour to pick you up."
"UUUUghhhh... Fine... You're lucky I love you... Bye."
Bee hung up the phone. She took a quick shower, then dried and straightened her hair. She shoved on some of her new clothes and headed out to pick up Laura.
*******
BEEP BEEEEEEEP! Bee honked the horn and within seconds Laura was out and ready to roll.
"I still don't see why going to lunch is so important... I mean it's not even lunch time Bee." Laura said rolling her eyes at her best friend.
"I know... We're not even gonna go to lunch. It was an excuse to get you out so I can tell you the big news."
"Aww shit you're pregnant aren't you? Fuck man... There goes our band... I can't believe you could just..."
"Laura..."
"I mean couldn't you have waited 'till our first tour was..."
"Laura..."
"Over cuz we can't play without you and I don't want another..."
"LAURA! Shut up! God. I'm not pregnant... Billie proposed to me last night. And thanks for totally killing it shhheeeesh."
"OHMILORD! You mean your... ENGAGED?"
"No shit sherlock."
"BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Laura screeched and she started clapping and jumping in her seat. Bee immediately got over her anger and joined in.
"Can you believe that like... 6 months ago we were walking into that little shithole club to do one of our first "major" gigs?" Laura said, as she absentmindedly reached over and turned on the radio.
"Rumor has it..." The radio guy said. "That Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer of Green Day, is now engaged to his girlfriend of 5 months and drummer of the girl punk band Bleeding Rose, Brittney Gursky who turned 18 just last night. He was seen purchasing an engagement ring about a week ago for- get this- $750,000."
"Wooow. Things sure do get around fast when you're famous." Laura said as she traded in the radio for a CD labeled "Oldies."
"Mmhmm." Bee said. "I hope Billie doesn't mind that everyone knows though."
"Naah I doubt he will. So can I come to yours and Billie and see your enormous walk in closet?" Laura said, wiggling her eyebrows. Bee drove to her's and Billie's house where she and Laura passed the time before the meeting eating take-out and watching The Notebook. The meeting was short and sweet. Their manager informed them that they would be kicking off their tour even though their album had only been out for about 2 months, because they had really burst onto the music scene and were in popular demand. There tour was only of the US. It would kick off on May 30th (which was in a little over a month) and end November 12th. Bee wondered what she would do all those months away from Billie, and how they would plan their wedding...
