Fame, Fortune, and Green Day, chapter 15
The next day Bee and Laura managed to talk Billie, Mike, and Tre's chauffeur out of going to pick the guys up at the airport, so that they could go and do it. They invited Avi or Dani to come along too so Tre wouldnt be lonely, but ever since the mayonnaise incident Avi didn't like being alone in the backseat with him. And Dani, despite her fling with him in Vegas, had been blowing him off ever since she and Diego, a guy from the recording studio met and fell head over heels in love. But nevertheless Bee and Laura showed up at the airport to pick up their men. They were a little early, Billie's plane wasn't scheduled to arrive until 12:20 and it was only 12, but they didn't mind the wait. Most of the time was taken up anyways signing autograph.
"Want some coffee? There's a mini shop over yonder. I can go get us some." Bee said eyeing the sign. She could go for a decaf mocha latte right about now.
"Mmmm...sounds good." Laura said handing Bee a 20. "I'll pay." Bee took the money and walked up to the little counter at the mini airport coffee shop. The person behind the counter took her order and she quickly grabbed the coffee, not wanting to miss Billie the minute he got off the plane.
"Brittney? Brittney Gursky?" a voice behind her said. She turned around thinking it was just someone wanting an autograph.
"Oh my..." she said nearly dropping the coffees. "Julian?"
"Yea...wow. It's been so long. Here let me help you with those." and before she could protest he had taken one of the hot coffees, despite the fact that he had a suitcase in hand.
"Err...uhh...this way." she said leading him over to Laura. The minute Laura saw him her eyes went wide and her face pale. Julian was Bee's ex boyfriend and the cause of so much heartbreak.
"What are you doing here? Like, in California. In Oakland?" Laura said in a protective voice.
"Oh I'm moving here. Just got a job at one of the hospitals." he said, not noticing the "go away or i'll kill you" look on Laura's face.
"So Brittney how have you been?" he asked handing her back her coffee.
"Oh i'm er...just fine. Here waiting for my fiance." she said emphasizing fiance.
"Your..your engaged??" he asked. Boy where has he been??? Bee thought. It's all over the news and it's only bee two days.
"Yea. You might know him...Billie Joe Armstrong. I've been dating him for some time now."
"You're dating the guy from Green Day?!?!"
"Yea. Where have you been? It's in every magazine." she said looking at him quizzically.
"I wasn't in the U.S. for some time. I was doing stuff in Africa. You know trying to help the sick and poor over there. So I havn't seen much tv."
"Oh I'm sorry. Wow that's alot for you not being even 18 yet. Your job at the hospital is like volunteer work?" she asked.
"Yea. I'm going to med school around here and it's sort of like an internship you know? Wow I can't believe your engaged. Especially since your 18." he said. The next few moments were awkward and thankfully Bee was saved. Laura nudged her and she turned around to see a disheveled Billie Joe walking out of the exit.
"Would you excuse me for a moment?" she asked Julian. "But stay here I want you to meet him." Julian simply nodded his head and watched as Bee ran up to Billie Joe and jumped on him. He picked her up and spun her around and they shared a long airport kiss. Once they were finished they walked over and joined Mike, Laura and Julian.
"Billie this is Julian...Julian this is Billie." Bee said as she squeezed Billie's hand.
"Wow man, this is so awesome. It's a pleasure to meet you." Julian said obviously star struck. Billie shook his hand.
"Julian? Bee's ex boyfriend from forever ago?" Billie said.
"Umm, well...yea." Julian replied more then a little uncomfortable.
"Oh thats cool. Well if your ever in the area you should stop by and have dinner with us." Billie said as he wrote their home phone number on a napkin and handed it to Julian. Bee honestly wished they were at a table so that she could kick Billie. But seeing as they weren't she squeezed his hand instead, and he squeezed back.
"Well, yea, I have to go pick up my rental." Julian said. "It was nice seeing you Brittney, and wow awesome meeting you Billie Joe. I'll uh...try and call one of these days." he said as he walked off. Once he was out of earshot Bee looked at Billie.
"Dinner? You invited him to dinner?"
"Well why not. If I'm ever gonna see him again, I better get over the fact that I wanna fuckin gouge his eyeballs out and shit in the fuckin sockets, and what better way to start then to have dinner?" he said. Bee, Laura and Mike all laughed. Tre who was off in another world suddenly sprung back to life.
"Holy shit guys can we please leave now? I really gotta fuckin pee." he said. Laura and Mike offered to take him home so that Billie and Bee could be alone. He gave Bee a big hug and then proceeded to do the "pee-pee dance" the whole way out to the car. On their way out Bee told Billie about the tour.
"A 6 month tour?" he said. "That's not that bad."
"But when will I see you?" she asked him.
"It's not like your entering the fuckin military and you might die. I can floy out to see you or you can fly home. It's not like it's 6 continuous months of touring."
"Well I didn't know that. I've never been on tour Mr. Smarty pants."
"God what would I do without you. Your so fuckin adorable." was his reply. "Did you eat already?"
"Mmhmm." she replied.
"Care for a little dessert?" he said wiggling his eyebrows.
"Why yes actually. I'd like a pice of Billie pie with whipped cream on top if you don't mind."
"Hmmm...I do believe we have some of that at home." he said as they got in the car and drove toward home.
