Snowboarding And Love, chapter 6
Billie Joe looked around the empty employee lounge with a look of confusion on his face. He thought that Elise had told him to meet him here. Shrugging he turned around and walked out the door towards the ski patrol headquarters. Stepping inside the small portable like building he was hit with a wave of heat that made him feel slightly nauseated. Looking around the room Billie Joe spotted Marli in the corner leaning against the wall, her hands over her face.
"Are you alright?", Billie asked feeling slightly awkward as he had only met Marli once.
She didn't answer instead she pretended as if he wasn't there.
"Are you al... ", he asked again before he was cut off.
"I heard the first time!", She snapped back looking up at him with tear swollen eyes. "And yes I'm perfectly fine thank-you."
"Umm.... No offense you really suck at lying", Billie smirked.
Marli glared up at him and Billie knew if looks could kill he would have been instantly dead with his insides strewn across the floor.
"Listen", Marli said her voice significantly softer. "I've just had a really bad night and I'm sorry for taking it out on you."
"No worries", Billie said passing her a Kleenex to wipe her eyes. "Wanna talk about it?"
Marli nodded as she blew her nose into the Kleenex.
"It's just El and I had a fight tonight and I said some things that I really shouldn't have said and I think I totally screwed up our friendship." She sniffled.
Billie was about to speak when the receiver for the walkie talkie's crackled on.
"Can *crackle* hear me?"
"That's Brad!" Marli said with a puzzled look on her face. She got up walked over to the receiver and pressed down on the side speaking into the hand held.
"Yeah... Brad? This is Marli what's the matter", Marli said.
"Someone *crackle* Into the restaurant. They took the Money *Crackle* Elise is *crackle* injured!" He yelled into the receiver panic in his voice. "WE need an ambulance *crackle* right away!."
Billie Joe and Marli were out the door in a split second.
"Here get on the snowmobile!", Marli yelled.
The two were near the summit in five minutes they could see Brad waving his flashlight in the air. Billie Joe jumped off the snowmobile the second it stopped. He could see two people, one lying on the ground.
"ELISE!", He screamed as he started to run.
As he got closer he could feel tears well up in his eyes. There in Sean's arms was Elise's lifeless body. Her face had lost its normal healthy colour and her lips were starting to turn blue. He looked down at her jacket which was now covered in blood. Sean was crying and rocking her back and forth. He ran to her side and tried to find her non existent pulse. He could feel hot tears roll down his face. He spun around wildly and could see Marli screaming into her cell phone trying to get an ambulance. He turned around to Elise.
"Please baby just wake up JUST SAY SOMETHING!", he screamed.
There was no response. Billie Joe slumped to the ground and sobbed.
