Whatever It Takes, chapter 4

Chapter 4: 2, 000 Light Years Away
"Don't Wanna Fall In Love,
Heaven Send Me An Angel From Above,
To Keep Me Occupied And Away From Guys,
To Keep My Heart Away From Their Stupid Lies," Amber sang.
"Don't want to fall in love," Cassady chimed in.
"Cause It's Too Damn Hard."
"Try not to listen to him and what he says."
"His Emotions Set Out In A Simple Hallmark Card."
"Show me that you love me."
"Don't Make Me Plea."
"I want you, but I don't."
"I love you, but I won't."
Together they sang, "Fall In Love With You."
Then Amber began again with, "It's Something I'm Not Willing To Do."
Crash: "No, no."
"Please don't go,
It's not that I want you to leave,
Love is something that's hard to receive,
It's something I'm not sure I'm ready to give back,
Happens so quick no time to react."
"Want you to know,
Don't want to let you go,
So I'll say it to get to you,
I hope you know that it may be true."
"But does it really matter how I feel,
I see you and I know that's real,
Please tell me that you were joking,
Love will make me start smoking,
To calm my nerves,
To feel my curves,
The ups and down,
Why are you still hanging around?"
"Hmm," Billie Joe thought aloud, "That was pretty good. Give me something else, something that isn't a duet, it's hard to follow."
"Okay," Amber stood in front then began to sing,
"Hey Crash,
Can you tell me what's wrong with me,
I have an emotional rash,
You can't see it it's on the inside,
What's the problem and is it serious,
Am I feeling dizzy because of mental problems,
Some how I'm now delirious,
Isn't there some way I can get it to go away?
Are my dreams going to be stuck this way?
And if I can't let go,
Then I want you to know,
In my coma I won't be dreaming of you,
Hope you know that that's true,
Not that it's bad or maybe it's good,
Am I feeling the way that I should?
Am I in love?
Or am I on heavy drugs,
Is it coming from below or is it above,
Can't tell my emotions are dulled to a slight dim,
And all I can think about is him,
Is this a something good or is it really bad?
Am I in love or am I just going mad?
Can't take it any more I'm ripping my own heart out,
Silence can kill and I'm about to shout,
Out loud I scream making my feelings so clear,
Killing the silence for any one near,
It needed to be done,
For them it had just begun,
I'm going crazy,
My eyesight is gone or it's going hazy,
Love is something that I now begin to hate,
But it's not supposed to be like that is it,
It's supposed to be something I appreciate,
Look outside at the falling rain,
Tell me is it rain,
I can't really tell any more,
Am I just going insane?"
"Better," Billie Joe said nodding his head in approval, "Next."
Amber took in a deep breath, "I'm going crazy,
Yes that's true,
No maybe I'm just lazy,
Give me something new to do,
I'm getting so bored,
Criticize my mind and my brain,
Sweet sensation that I crave,
I know I must refrain,
Tickling up my arm,
I got so bored,
It has a sickly charm,
That I can't resist,
Cause I'm an addict,
Amused with carpet static,
When I rub my feet on the floor,
And I don't care any more,
Cause I'm stoned,
I'm so condoned,
Save me from destruction,
As I slip to narcotic abduction,
Cause I'm so addicted,
I'm gonna get convicted,
Slipping some where I can't even find,
Once I'm gone I lose my mind,
I'm an addict,
I'm falling asleep when I'm not high,
Blood shot in my eye,
Cause I'm an addict,
Amused with carpet static,
When I rub my feet on the floor,
And I don't care any more,
Cause I'm stoned,
I'm so condoned,
Can't hide it any more,
Parents kicked me out my front door,
And they won't let me back in,
Did I do something wrong,
Did I commit a sin?
Yes,
That was my first guess,
Or was it my second best,
It seems better than all the rest,
Cause I'm an addict,
Amused with carpet static,
When I rub my feet on the floor,
And I don't care any more,
Cause I'm stoned,
I'm so condoned,
But now I've been rejected by everyone,
They took away my fun,
Now I'm poor,
Can't afford any more."
"I liked that one," Billie Joe replied with a grin, "Who wrote it?"
"We both did," Amber replied with a smile.
"You only like it because you relate to it BJ," Mike told him.
"Whatever man it's a good song, it sort of reminds me of one that I wrote not too long ago called Basketcase," Billie Joe told her deep in thought.
Cassady shook her head then taking her guitar strap off over her head she managed to slip out with out being noticed as the others got into a fight over something about The Clash and The Ramones. She had no idea how they even got around to the subject, but all she could think about was how she was supposed to be meeting Tre today at a park. Quickly she grabbed the keys to the car, slipping out of Billie Joe's house then leaving to go down the street to the park they decided to meet at. Cassady sighed in her car thinking about how Billie Joe had been singing to them some songs that he had writen about Amber. It always gave her that sick feeling of jealousy in the pit of her stomach, something about him being the lead guy in the group turned her on.
"Hey," Tre said while leaning into her car.
Cassady smiled as he placed a small kiss on her lips, she quickly moved to get out of the car after he moved away so she could do so. Tre then took her hand leading her out to a blanket that he had set up with a basket and every thing just like a proper pick nick. She smirked to herself at the sight of this, thinking screw poetry when you can have your boyfriend giving you free food. The thought made her smile broaden as she sat down next to Tre running her hand along the soft material of the blanket.
"Wow," Cassady looked at him, "Tre Cool, taking me on a pick nick. A day I never thought would come."
Tre smiled, "Yeah well Tre Cool has a soft side too."
"I bet," ;Cassady said positioning herself so that she was on top of him.
"Maybe I should take you on pick nicks in public places more often," Tre said smiling.
"Maybe, or maybe in more private places," Cassady told him kissing his neck.
Tre started breathing quicker then closing his eyes then moved her head with his hands so that she was kissing his lips. He was nervous that he would get a boner if she kissed him on the neck anymore, it had that effect on him for some reason. Cassady opened her mouth to let Tre's tongue in only to search around her mouth while she explored his. They made out there on the blanket then finally Tre let his back his the blanket instead of sitting up, which was getting tiring. He then pushed her over so that he was on top then slide his hand up her shirt hesitantly as if waiting for permission. She grabbed his arm pushing it further up her shirt, Tre of course took this as the ultimate permission. Cassady moved her hands up his shirt rubbing his chest as they started to move down even more, Tre suddenly broke away rolling off of her.
She propped her head up using her elbow then stared at him, "Too much fun?"
He looked at her then smirked, "Too much fun for public."
"Ah," Cassady replied, "I see."
"Yeah, so let's get out of public," he told her at the same time grabbing her hand and pulling both of them to their feet.
"But what about the picnic?"
"Forget it," ; he told her pulling her to the car.

Billie Joe stared at Amber's mid section which was showing because of her shirt being tied up, he liked the fact that her belly button was pierced. He liked it when she tied her shirt up so he could stare at her pierced stomach and touch her, it was strange but he did. Amber smiled at him staring at his face then watching as he walked over to him lacing her fingers with his. She continued to smile then pulled his hands around so that they went around her waist, he drew her closer. Close enough so that when he looked up to stare her in the face that she could feel his breath, then when he pressed his lips to hers she closed her eyes, him following in the suit.
Billie Joe pulled away grinning at her, "Do you want to hear a song that I wrote?"
"Yes," Amber told him also smiling.
He pulled away from her as she sat down on her bed (she had already moved into the spare bedroom in BJ's house) and grabbed his guitar from the corner. She always had loved that guitar because of all the stickers that he had stuck on it, and it just happened to be her favorite color. It was also his favorite guitar, because his father had given it to him before he died when Billie Joe was only 10. He took it as some sort of sign that his father wanted him to make it as a musician and that's exactly what Billie Joe had been planning to do.
"Okay this is going to be on our first record I promise you," Billie Joe told her before beginning.
"I sit alone in my bedroom,
Staring at the walls,
I've been up all damn night long,
My pulse is beating,
My love is yearning,
I hold my breath and close my eyes,
And dream about her,
Because she's 2, 000 light years away,
She holds my malachite so tight so...
Never let go,
Because she's 2, 000 light years away,
Yes away,
I sit out side and watch the sun rise,
Look out as far as I can,
I can't see her, but in the distance,
I hear some laughter,
We laugh together,
I hold my breath and close my eyes,
And dream about her,
Because she's 2, 000 light years away,
She holds my malachite so tight so...
Never let go,
Because she's 2, 000 light years away,
Yes away,
I sit alone in my bedroom,
Staring at the walls,
I've been up all damn night long,
My pulse is beating,
My love is yearning,
I hold my breath and close my eyes,
And dream about her,
Because she's 2, 000 light years away,
She holds my malachite so tight so...
Never let go,
Because she's 2, 000 light years away,
Years away."
Amber smiled at him, "That's a really good song you should put it on the album."
Billie Joe cleared his throat, "Thanks. Well, I'll play that one at Gilman tonight too if you want, but only if you do. I'm going to let you choose the song selection."
"Right," Amber told him, "Well then you can play what ever you feel like playing, and that's my selection because every thing you write is absolute genius. In my opinion, and if the world doesn't think so then fuck them, right?" ;
"Yeah," Billie Joe told her. "So we have the whole day to ourselves what do you feel like doing?"
"I dunno, what do you want to do?" ;
"Well I was thinking that we could go out to eat."
"Sure that would be cool."
"Okay."
They walked out to the car, Billie Joe opened the door for Amber then ran to his own side to get in the car after. She smiled at him broadly then leaned her head on his shoulder after he backed out of driveway to his house. He smiled the put his arm around her waist pulling her closer in the car driving down the street towards the restaurant that he had picked out.
"Hello, just one second and I'll take you to be seated," The woman at the front said eying Amber's stomach that was still not covered.
As she left Amber turned to Billie Joe grinning, "Billie, you don't have to take me to a nice sit down restaurant."
Amber was fully aware that Billie Joe wasn't exactly the richest person in town, let alone the second to last. She didn't expect him to get her anything or pay for anything, just because she was aware that his mom was just a waitress. Most of the stuff he did and got for her was paid for by the money that he'd receive from gigs at Gilman and so forth. Every time she'd tell him how he didn't have to do it, and that he should be saving the money for better equipment for the band. Like few others Amber was also aware of the fact that Billie Joe rarely went to school, he actually told her that the only reason he stuck around was to see her more often. She found that incredibly sweet of him, expecting it to be some other sweet thing he'd say to get her in bed, but he really meant it. Billie Joe hated to go to school, if she wasn't there he wouldn't go at all.
"I wanted to bring you here, and really it's not all that nice," ; Billie Joe told her looking around the room.
It was just some place like all of those other restaurants with pictures of celebrities, he grinned when he spotted the picture of Elvis on the wall. Billie Joe pulled Amber in a bit more proudly holding her with his right arm. He always felt like she was some sort of trophy, not that that was the reason why he liked her, she was just so beautiful to him. Billie Joe was surprised at how Amber never noticed the large amount of guys checking her out, and that was when Billie Joe had his arm around her. She was gorgeous and he still was trying to figure out why she honestly wanted him in the first place, so he didn't change. Because he never wanted to let her go.
The waitress came back then led them to a booth where Amber sat down opposite of Billie Joe desperately trying to pull her shirt down. The waitress eyed her again watching her several attempts then put on a fake smile saying that their server would be there in a few minutes. Amber knew that the waitress was going to go back to her position then talk to the person working nearest her about how slutty Amber was. Although Amber hadn't had time to change, she didn't realize where Billie Joe was going to take her, the bastard.
"Do you want to trade me shirts?" Amber asked sarcastically.
"I would, but I think that it probably looks better on you," Billie Joe told her grinning as he watched her try to pull the shirt down, at the same time playing with his spiked bracelet.
"Please," Amber stuck out her lip, "I feel like a whore."
"And I'd feel like a cross dresser, not to mention can you imagine the looks that men would give me when I walked by?" Billie Joe asked her lifting an eyebrow at the suggestion.
"Come on," Amber begged, "Besides does anyone else's opinion matter?"
"What?" He questioned, "Well the only person's opinion I care about is yours."
"Well what if I told you that it would be sexy if you wore this shirt?"
He looked at her then finally gave in sighing, "Fine."
Amber grinned as she took off her shirt then gave it to him waiting for him to repeat the action crossing her arms over her chest. He grinned broadly not making any sudden movements. Suddenly she had realized that he had tricked her, Amber's only response was to glare at him evilly. She should have known that he would do something like that to her when she was in need. It was just like him.
"Asshole," ;Amber sneered.
"Sexy," Billie Joe told her, noting her facial expression. "Look at the bright side, at least you're not fat or this would be very awkward wouldn't it?"
Amber replied with a glare then added, "If you don't give me your fucking shirt then I will first break up with you then kill you on site."
Billie Joe frowned, "Now that's not nice."
His frown turned to a grin as he pointed to the shirt that Amber had taken off, which she had on before taking it off, then gestured to it. Amber shook her head then nodded when he pointed to the shirt he was wearing, he took it off then gave it to her nicely. She snatched it away from him quickly then put it on just as quick watching for the time when Billie Joe would put on her shirt. He looked down at it in his lap then back to Amber who smiled nodding then put on an expression crossing her arms waiting. Billie Joe sighed then put it on watching as she burst out laughing at him, putting a hand over her mouth to stop people from staring at them. Some people saw however, and she laughed harder when a parent covered their child's eyes from the sight of Billie Joe.
"You look soooooo hot right now," Amber told him between laughs.
"Right," Billie Joe replied rolling his eyes then covering his bare stomach eyeing Amber who was overly covered by his own shirt. "So are you coming to the gig tonight now that I have betrayed you or do I have to kidnap you then drag you down there?"
"Being tied up then dragged some where by Billie Joe Armstrong is a rather kinky thought isn't it?" Amber quirked an eyebrow at him.
He couldn't help but smile, "Only if you want to make it that way, and if you do then we can just screw the gig. I'm sure they'll still want us on Friday anyways."
"I bet, especially when you show up in that top," Amber told him once again bursting into giggle fits.
Billie Joe again rolled his eyes.
"Better stop, you might strain a muscle in your eye, then you'll have this big red vein to go along with the red lipstick you'll soon be wearing," Amber told him laughing.
Before he could reply a waiter can by interrupting their conversation, "Hello may I take your-"
He stopped when he saw what Billie Joe was wearing then made a strange face, which caused Amber to crack up. Billie Joe explained to the waiter why he was wearing what he was, but he didn't seem too convinced with him about it. Amber continued to laugh until she finally ordered what she wanted along with Billie Joe following the suit. The waiter then left them to get the food laughing slightly when he turned his back to the two still sitting down.
"If you have to leave to go to the bathroom I'm coming with," ; Billie Joe told her.
"Why? Don't think your eligible to use the men's room anymore?" ; Amber asked, "I didn't think the top could change the person, but then again you're always fooling us Billie Joe." ;
He glared at her, "No, but I do think that you owe me after making me look like this. And there is no way that I'm going to sit alone in a booth looking like this." ;
"You probably shouldn't I mean people might think that you're waiting for your partner to join you or something."
Billie Joe rolled his eyes, "Are you going to stop?"
"I'm sorry, I'll stop it's just funny, and I think I have to go to the bathroom right after we get our drinks," Amber informed him.
He smiled, "Thank you."
"Your welcome."

Mike smiled, "Thanks."
"Not a problem," ;The woman at the counter said looking past him.
But his eyes never left her, "Say when do you get off work?"
"Um," ; she looked him over, he was cute enough, "Around 3, why?"
"Well I don't suppose that you would like to go get a cup of coffee of your own would you?" ; He asked her.
She smiled at him looking at the cup of coffee in his hand, "Sure, why not?"
"Okay I'll come back and get you at a quarter after 3," ; Mike told her. "By the way what's your name?"
"I'm Alicia," ; she told him, "And yours?"
"Mike," he answered. "Yours is nice by the way."
"Thanks, well bye Mike I guess I'll see you at 3 fifteen," ; Alicia told him with a smile.
He smiled back, "See yah."
She hated when guys said that, several magazines, though she never really read them, told her that if a guy says 'see yah' that he really doesn't like you. Alicia had heard this from one of her better friends named Micheal, who happened to find a new fascination with them. Micheal was strange just like that, quirky and tiny with brown hair and brown eyes that she claimed were almost hazel. Actually Micheal was quiet similar in looks to Alicia. Alicia had black hair with pink underneath (but was a natural brunette) with brown eyes (one of which she claimed to be almost green), she was small in frame, and beautiful. Both played instruments in a band, Alicia was bass, while Micheal was the drums, as if she could sit still enough to play any other instrument.
The whole time she was working at the coffee place she was completely zoning out, she was supposed to smile at the costumers but she probably looked some what like a zombie. But who really looks good when their day dreaming about the guy who just walked in and asked you out for coffee? She couldn't stop thinking about his deep blue eyes, or his dirty blonde hair that he kept shaggy, and the Dickies he was wearing drove her insane. Alicia also admired Mike's straight white teeth, his smaller frame, his height, and of course Mike's ass.
At three fifteen he came in right on time.
