Take Me With You, chapter 1

"I'M NOT GOING!" I screamed through my closed bedroom door.
"Yes you are! You don't have a choice!" my mom yelled back.
"You can't make me go!" I screamed back.
"Yes I can you're going and that's that!" She screamed back at me.
I fell face first onto my bed and screamed into my pillow. My own mother was sending me to a camp for "distraught children and teenagers" a. K. A. Concentration camp for trouble makers. I couldn't believe this. I had only been arrested four times, and once wasn't even my fault. The first time was for, a poor attempt in my opinon, of setting the school on fire. Second for posession of marajuana. Third for stealing a car and reckless driving. And finally fourth for vandalizing a police car. Which one wasn't my fault? Well... Um okay fine they were all my fault. But hey what the hell else am I supposed to do in this shit ass little town.
"Get packed we're leaving in an hour!" my mom screamed towards my room.
"Alright shut up!" I said while getting up and throwing a suitcase on my bed and tossing everything I wanted to bring with me into it.
***
"You'll thank me for this one day." my mom said before stopping the car to drop me off at the bus station.
Oh yea didn't I meantion I'll be taking a bus with the rest of my inmates to Burbank California, where this concentration camp is at.
"Yea uh huh." is all I answered.
I grabbed my suitcase and slammed the door shut and didn't even say goodbye to my mom. 17 years of an incompetent motherhood and she decided to play mommy dearest now. I threw my suitcase to a pile that was being loaded onto the bus and walked up the steps onto the bus to find a seat. I walked to the very last row and took a seat by the window, pulled out my cd player.
"Alright welcome to the bus ride to Camp Harrison. I will be joining you all for this journey. My name is Mrs. Landers. Ok at this time I am going to take roll call to make sure everyone is here and on the right bus." she said to us with a voice you only hear preschool teachers talk in.
"Eugene Aaron?" she called out the looked up to put a face to a name.
"Lara Aberson?" she said next.
"Billie Joe Armstrong?" she looked up and smiled at a figure about two rows above me. There was something about that name when she said it...
"Melissa Andrews?" she called out and looked around
"Right here." I said raising my hand so she could see me from the back.
She finished the roll call, and promised she'd have everyone's names memorized soon. She smiled an unfortable smile, realizing that no one really cared about her calm school teacher ways.
About halfway through the ride there I was listening to my cd player when she stood up again to address the whole bus.
"Would anyone like to introduce themselves and tell us alittle bit about yourself?" she asked looking hopeful.
"No... Hmm.. Ok lets see... Ah how about Melissa Andrews?!" she said looking to the back of the bus at me.
It was easy to spot me because I was the only one sitting in the very back.
"Would you like to tell everyone about yourself?" she said smiling her dorky smile at me.
"No." I said bluntly a few people laughed.
"Come on. Come right up here and tell everyone about yourself." she said pointing to the front of the bus.
"No." I said bluntly again.
"Hmm... Let's see here... Your mother listed on your transcript that you have a problem with authority." she said and looked at me as if I were going to protest.
It was true I hated authority. I hated being talked down to and I let it be known.
"Yea..." I said waiting for her to give me a reason why she decided to share this with the whole bus.
"Well we are on this trip to get past that aren't we? So come on up here and tell everyone about yourself." she said smiling as if she broke me.
"I said no. And how about we get past it when we get off the bus k?" I said in a mock sweet voice. Also earning a few laughs from people on the bus.
Looking dissappointed and defeated she sat down and was quiet the rest of the way there. All along the bus ride I kept noticing that.. Um... Billie Joe... Guy turning around and looking at me. I noticed this because one glance he gave me I locked eyes with him and couldn't seem to tear away. He had the most beautiful green eyes I had ever seen. He was really attractive. The bus came to a stop and I stood up and waiting as everyone exited the bus to enter their new confinement. We were all hearded into a huge room where we were asked our name and given a thin manila folder containing what cabin (yes cabin) we would staying in and the times for all the activities we would be taking part in. I noticed most of the activities were individual, probably not to give us a chance to start something with someone.
"Welcome to Camp Harrision! Make sure before exiting the gymnasium to get a folder with your name on it. Once you have you may leave and we'll see you all tomorrow." someone said over a microphone there were to many people in my way to really tell who.
I decided there was no point in sticking around so I exited the gym and made my way to this huge sign with arrows pointing in every direction telling where each part of the camp was. I would be staying in the forest park cabins, cabin number 13. I decended on the long walk to find at the end a whole bunch of little two person cabins in a cluster. I went down a line of small cabins and looked for number 13. Finally reaching it I opened the door to reveal two twin sided bed paralell on two walls with a nightstand next to each one and one large trunk at the foot of each bed with a door inbetween the beds.
Setting my suitcase on the bed I decided to take before my roomate got here I opened the door in the middle of the two beds to find a small bathroom with a stand-in shower, toliet, and small sink with a mirror above it.
"I guess it could be worse." I whispered to myself.
I closed the door to the bathroom and put what was in my suitcase into the trunk and slide the suitcase under the bed. Sitting on the bed when I finished I wondered when my roomate would arrive. I looked at my watch and decided to take a short nap, to be rested before dinner tonight, which was sure to be oodles of fun. As soon as I layed down and smelt the funky odor from the blankets I heard a knock at the door.
"Come in!" I yelled still laying above the covers with my eyes closed.
"Melissa Andrews?" I heard an adult say while rustling some papers.
"That's me." I said sounding bored.
"Sorry about this Miss. Andrews but Billie Joe here was a late applicant and everywhere else is full. I hope this isn't of inconvinience." the adult informed me.
"Nope none at all." I said still not looking up I was in no mood to be friendly today.
"Ok then. I'll see you two later." the adult said then closed the door.
Then is hit me did she say Billie Joe the hottie from the bus ride. My eyes snapped open to see a boy setting a bag down on the open bed and taking stuff out. I sat up and walked over to him.
"Hi I'm Melissa." I said offering a hand and a smile.
"Billie Joe." he said while shaking my hand and returning the smile. "So what are you in for Melissa." he asked.
"Huh? Oh, um trouble, pissed off mom... You know the usual." I said breaking my daze from his dreamy green eyes.
"Interesting. Care to elaborate?" he asked with a smile, how could I say no.
"Been arrested four times, JV for about 6 months and overall bad behavior and attitude." I said using finger quotes at one part.
"Nice." he said with a smile.
"And you Mr. Billie Joe?" I asked.
"Expelled from two schools. Drug problems, and now I want to drop out so my mom sent me here." he said finishing with a smile.
"Not to bad yourself." I said in mock admiration. "Oh great!" I said looking at the bathroom door.
"What?" Billie asked confused.
"No lock on the bathroom door." I said sighing alittle.
"Oh." Billie said but looked away and back to unpacking, but I had noticed him blushing.
"It's not a problem with me if it isn't with you." I said trying to be resonable, I mean what could happen?
"Nope not at all." Billie said not looking at me because he was still blushing.
A few minutes later when Billie had finished unpacking, we talked for a while. I told him stories of how I got arrested each time. And he told me about a band he had back home. I had noticed he brought his guitar with him and he promised to give me lessons. When I asked how he had gotten the guitar he told me about how his dad died when he was ten years old. I was amazed, he was hot and had a broken past. Could this guy be more perfect for me. I told him how my dad had left me and my mom when I was little and never came back. A little while more of talking we heard a bell sounding that dinner was ready in the cafeteria.
"Shall we?" Billie asked holding out a hand to help me up from where I sitting next to him on his bed. He was still holding my hand as we walked towards the door but shyly took it away to open the door for me. This was weird no one ever treated me like this. I had a feeling this wasn't going to be as bad as I had originally thought.
