Take Me With You, chapter 13

As everyone started drinking and having a good time in the living room, Billie tapped my arm and asked if he could talk to me outside. I nodded and followed him into the backyard. He stood infront of me and nervously fiddled with the keys in his pocket.
"What do you need to tell me? And why are you so nervous?" I smiled while putting my hands on his face to bring him to look me in the eye.
"Um... Mel... I think... We-should-just-be-friends." he blurted out.
"What?!" I yelled taking my hands from his face.
"Mel, I just need to figure things out, I mean I'm gonna be a father!" he continued. "We can be friends like we once were." he pleaded.
"Billie I can't be just friends with you!" I yelled.
I shook my head and looked at Billie through tear filled eyes before walked back through the house grabbing my jacket, I could feel everyone's eyes on me as I sobbed through the house, and when I slammed the door and Billie re-entered the house he was bombarded with questions. I wasn't sure where to go so I went back to the bar that I had been at that one night. As I walked in I saw the man that had almost raped me. I walked by him quickly or I tried to, he caught me.
"Hey you little bitch, you think you can pull that shit like you did the other night and get away with it..." he was cut off.
"Frank! Let go of her and go home!" Someone yelled.
"What are you doing back here sweetie?" It was waitress that had helped me that night.
"I...we...there was..." I couldn't get anything else out before bursting into tears.
"Hey Leon! I'm leavin early see you tomorrow." She yelled to some guy behind the counter and threw her apron at him and then she led me out the door to her car.
"Come on I'm gonna take you to my place so we can talk." she said as he pulled car our of the parking lot. We drove in silence until we got to her apartment.
"So what's your name?" she asked as I sat on her couch.
"Melissa Andrews, you can call me Mel..." I replied in a small voice.
"Ok Mel, I'm Laila, now tell me what happened." she said sitting next to me and rubbing my back.
"Well you know Billie Joe Armstrong right?" I asked and she nodded. "Well..." I proceeded to tell her the whole dreaded story.
"Hunny that's awful, Billie Joe can be a dick at times." she laughed.
"What makes it even worse is that I live there. I have to go back and see him and be around him. I don't know if I can do it." I said worried.
"Well your welcome to stay here as long as you like. My roomate just moved out a couple weeks ago, I could use the company." she offered.
"Oh my God! That would be perfect! Thank you so much!" I screamed excitedly, hugging her.
Laila and I talked for a couple more hours about my relationship issues and basic info on her. She then showed me to the bedroom her other roomate has recently vacated. Despite how much better I felt about what was going on from talk to Laila I still missed Billie and I still cried myself to sleep.

The next morning I woke up and opened my eyes hoping to see Billie was saw nothing but a wall. I sighed and dragged myself out of bed and went downstairs to the kitchen where Laila was drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. She pointed to the coffee pot and I made myself a cup and sat at the table across from her.
"So what are your plans for today?" she asked me.
"I was thinking about picking up some stuff from Billie's house." I said taking another sip of my coffee. "What are you gonna do?" I asked in return.
"Well I gotta work. All day and night. Don't be surprised it's always this way on Friday." she laughed. She then put down her the newspaper and said she was going to take a shower and then she was going to head out.
"Hey can you give me a ride to Billie's?" I asked as Laila was about to walk out the door.
"Yea sure." she said as we both got into her car.

"It'll be okay." She reasurred me. I nodded and headed towards the door as Laila drove away.
I pushed open the door, it seemed as though no one was home. I took a deep breath and tried to be as quiet as possible as I walked to mine and Billie's room. I didn't want to direct any attention my way. As I was about to open the bedroom door I stopped when I heard someone sobbing. It was Billie. Then came voices.
"Billie man, you have to look at things from her perspective." Mike consoled.
"I know.. 'sniffle' I just wish she was here I miss her and I'm worried. She was almost raped Mike! What if the creep comes back." Billie stopped short and began to breath heavily still crying.
"Bill, you gotta calm down. You're gonna give yourself a panic attack." Mike said.
More sobs came, and I decided I should came back at another time. I took a couple slow steps towards the door, but then suddenly walked on a loose floor board that creaked. I froze.
"What was that?" I heard Mike say as him and Billie entered the living room.
"Mel..." Billie whispered.
"I came to get some of my things. I'm staying with a friend." I said facing them.
I walked past Billie and Mike and into our room where I pack some clothes and walked back out into the living room.
"Wait." Billie said catching my arm before I walked out of the house.
"What Billie..." I asked.
"Where are you going? Will I see you again? Where do you stand?" he rambled out to me.
"I'm staying with a friend. I hope to see you again, but I don't know when, and I have no idea where we stand anymore Billie. I'm sorry I have to go." I said and left just in time before tears shown in my eyes. As I walked down the street because I had no car I heard Billie yell out to me,
"I still love you Mel." he yelled.
"If you loved me this wouldn't be happening." I yelled back through tears.
