That's Fucked Up, chapter 1
I stepped off of the plane and entered the lobby. Each step I take moves me further and further away from the life I once knew. It's funny how life works out... One minute you could have friends who care about you, a loving family, a "perfect" life, and then in the blink of an eye you could be on a plane going to a place thousands of miles away from the ones that you know and love.
I'm not really sure how things got as bad as they are now. My parents, once a loving couple that never sweared or anything like that, discovered a little thing called drugs and alcohol. We were going through a slight financial problem at the time and I guess they needed a little something to take them away from the world and it's pain. It started as a thing that they did every now and then but eventually they were addicted and couldn't stop drinking or doing drugs no matter how hard they tried. That's about the time the violence started. First they would just yell at and occasionally slap each other but then they started taking it out on my sister Jennifer and me. Then on one of those rare days they were sober they realized what they were doing to us. That's why we're here. They decided we would be better off living with a person that's a friend to our mom and a complete stranger to us than living with them.
So here we are, in Rodeo, California, basically starting a new life. Let's hope it's better than the last one...
