Heck Yes!, chapter 10

Annabelle put the last coat of black nail polish on her fingernails.
"Do mine! Do mine!" Tre said, watching her.
She chuckled to herself, nodding to him. She took his hand, placing it on her thigh, so she could paint them easier.

"There." She twisted the cap onto the nail polish bottle. Releasing his hand, she smiled proudly down at his hand.
"Sexy." He breathed, turning his hand over so the light glinted on the shiny-ness of the polish.

He settled back next to her on the couch, slipping his arm around her shoulders. Digging his hand between the cushions of the couch, he finally revealed the TV remote.
"Ha." He muttered in victory, flipping through the channels, finally settling on some cartoon involving a large-breasted woman running around.

Annabelle rested her head on his shoulder, listening to his breathing, sighing in contentment. He buried his face into her neck, breathing in deeply.
"You smell really... Really good. He murmured into her neck. And she did. Like raspberries and flowers and fresh rain.
"Hmmm... So do you." She said as he started to kiss her neck. She snuggled up close to him.
"Tre... Hold on... " She said after kissing him for a while, feeling his hand on her jean zipper.
"Bedroom?" He breathed, resting his forehead on her shoulder.
She nodded.
He picked up her small body, and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
He gave her a cheeky smile, giggling a little.
"I'm gonna get some, aren't I?" He said, eyes sparkling.
"Heck yes." She giggled.
He sat her down on the edge of his bed, crawling over her so his face was inches from hers. He smiled at her seconds before she captured his mouth with hers.

"Hmm... " Annabelle sighed in contentment as Tre stroked her arm, spooning her. He pulled her warm body closer to his, resting his head on her shoulder.
"I really... I really like you Annabelle." He whispered in her ear.
"I really like you to Tre," She whispered, a smile coming across her face.
"No, really. I even made a mental list about all the things I like about you. When I was on the plane back here. Like when you're really deep in thought, you pucker your lips just a little, and your always laughing. When everyone is down, you say something funny, and everyone is happy. And your smile. God, you have the best smile. It sounds a little cliché, but your smile really does light the room... "
He went on for quite some time, until he heard Annabelle's breathing become even. He closed his eyes, holding her tight.

"Turn... Here." Annabelle instructed, pointing to her left.
"Could you just tell me? We've been driving for hours!" Tre said, turning the steering wheel.
"Not yet, because we're almost there. And it's barley been an hour." She rolled her eyes, pointing left, and he turned again.
"Now, pull up in front of that blue house. Number nineteen." She said, pointing. He pulled up in front, turning the engine off.
"That was my house." She said, gazing at it.
"You never told me you lived here! I though you grew up in Kansas." He said, looking at the house too.
"No. Oh-no. We moved to Texas a week after my tenth birthday from here. Two years after that we moved to Kansas."
He looked at her face and he could see it all. She missed it. He watched as he saw he eyes become slightly watery. He grabbed her hand, pulling her out of the driver's side door.
"Tre! What are you doing?" She said, discreetly wiping her eyes.
"Come on!" He said pulling her up to the porch.
He knocked on the door, holding Annabelle on the porch by her hand.
"Can I help you?" A woman opened the door, a dishtowel slung over her shoulder.
"Yes, my friend here, her name is Annabelle, her family sold this house about... Seventeen years ago. During the summer? I was wondering if she could just have a quick look. You know, 'cause this was her childhood home." He said, smiling at the woman.
"Of course, come on in, I was just cleaning the kitchen up. We should have fresh baked cookies in about three minutes. Make yourself at home, have a look around." She stepped aside letting them both in as she walked to the kitchen.
"Th-Thank you." Annabelle called out as she disappeared to where the kitchen must be.
Annabelle walked over to what looked like a marble fireplace. She ran her fingers over the smooth top.
"It's the same. My mom painted this. She used a feather so it looked like marble." She whispered.
"Show me your room." He whispered into her ear after pulling her into a hug. She nodded, walking off towards a hall. She opened a door, revealing a purple room with wallpaper covering the walls.
"This is the same too." She whispered.

They walked through the rest of the house, which most of it was the same.
"Take another cookie." Tre gladly took another cookie off the plate the woman had offered as they walked out of the door.
"Thank you so much. Most people would call the asylum." Annabelle said, pulling the woman into a hug.
"You're welcome darling. Come back if you like." She said, closing the door.
Annabelle surprise Tre by pulling him into a kiss. A heart stopping, hyperventilating, I'm-dying-of-a-heart-attack kiss.
"Shit." He breathed as she pulled away.
"Come on, I have another place to show you." She hopped into the car, and gave him directions to go down two blocks, and turn right.
"It's just a playground." He said.
"Just a playground?!" She said, laughing.
She pulled him out, over to the swings.
"It's my favorite." She said as he sat down in a swing.
"Mine too. Always thought I could touch the sky if I got high enough." He said, looking up at the cloudy San Francisco weather. She nodded in agreement.

The rest of the day you could find them walking along the dike, looking out into the bay, or climbing the rocks down to find crabs.

"Thank you Tre." Annabelle whispered into his ear, taking a sip from her beer at the bar.
