The Special Story, chapter 12

"I'm sorry, to both of you."
They both gave me stern looks and walked off. I continued sobbing. My life just ran away from me. And Billie Joe and Natalie had no idea what was going on. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"I am really confused," I sputtered out.
"Listen, I don't know if I can do much. But I will do what I can to help you out."
"Hey, dude. Thanks."
I gave him a hug without thinking. And to my surprise he didn't pull away. For once this evening I felt a little less nervous and tense.
"I should get home," I brought up.
'Um... ok. I'll take you there."
"Thanks."
We started walking. When we neared the house I opened the door and offered Cone to come inside. I offered him a soda and he happily accepted.
"Ew... what kind of soda is this," he said choking down the soda with a wince on his face.
"The shit my family and I live off of."
"This is nasty. I have never tasted anything so vile in my life."
Soda squirted out of my nose. I was laughing insanely. He smiled and timidly set the soda down on the counter. "What's this," he asked picking up a note. "Let me see," I said jumping to grab the note out of his hand. When I got it he pouted and went over to pet my really hyper dog. I read the note:

Dearest Cassidy,
We are off at the hospital. You're father is quite ill I will try and call you to give you more information, but we probably won't be back for a few days. If you need any food or anything there is money on the counter.

-Mom

My stomach dropped and I felt tears weld up in my eyes again, for about the fourth time tonight. "What's a matter," he asked "Everything. My friends, my family, just plain EVERYTHING," I hollered. He looked at the note and winced,
"Doesn't look to good." "Not at all," I said choking back my tears. "How about you stay at my place tonight," he suggested. "Sure, hopefully my mother won't kill me but she won't be back for a few days," I said happily as possible, "Let me just get a few things." "Sounds good," he said. I went upstairs into my room and gathered up the things I would need like my backpack, my toothbrush and other crap like that. I couldn't forget Wolfy. I had all my stuff in my arms and tried to make my way down the stairs. "Here let me help you with that," Cone offered. I nodded and handed him a few things. "Is your house far away," I asked. "Nope, not at all, infact I live really close," he replied. I smiled. I grabbed the money on the counter and we were out the door.

"You sure you're parents won't mind," I asked nervously. "Nope, not at all, my mother is a really friend woman and she love guests," he commented. I smiled and nodded. Much to my surprise his house was only a few doors away from mine. He opened the door and I was welcomed by the smell of cinnamon rolls cooking in the oven. I smiled, there house was very neat and it had a nice feel and scent to it. His mother walked up to me and said, "Welcome, would you like some cinnamon buns? A little nice midnight snack" I nodded. "Well, they will be out of the oven in a few minutes," she continued. "Ok, they smell really great," I said smiling trying to look happy even enough I really wasn't inside. Cone and I went upstairs. He showed me to the guestroom. "Wow, you're mother is really friendly," I commented. "Yeah she is, but it can get a little annoying at times," Cone commented. I set my stuff on the bed and I heard Cone's mother call, "The buns are ready." Cone snickered and repeated, "Buns." I cracked up.

We made our way to the dinner table and sat down across from each other. "So Jason, who's this," his mother asked. I snickered, Jason. Apparently he didn't like his name so he changed it. "Um... just a friend, hey mom do you mind if she sleeps in the guest room tonight," he asked trying to get off the subject that I just met him about an hour ago and we barely knew a thing about each other. "Sure," she said, "Try and at least get to bed by one or midnight." "Of course we will," he said and he crossed his fingers behind his back. I tried to hold in my laughter as he did this. She smiled not even knowing he crossed his fingers. Luckily it was Friday night so we wouldn't have to go to bed right away and wake up early. After we finished out cinnamon buns we went upstairs and got ready for bed.
