The Guy at the Bus Stop, chapter 3

"Why don't you get your own girlfriend, Tre?" asked Billie. "Because I don't need one. All the girls are attracted to my sexiness" said Tre, laughing at his own joke. "The only thing you attract are flies, because you smell like a turd!" Billie said. "I DO NOT! Do I?" Tre asked Jen, who he was still sitting on. "Uh, if I answer yes will you get off me? You're not exactly light, you know" she said, trying to think of some way she could get him off. "If you kiss me, i'll get up" Tre said smiling. "That's not fair!" Jen said pouting. Then she said, "Hey Tre, is that an ice cream truck I hear? Quick, go get me one!" "What? I don't hear any... Hey! You tricked me!" Tre said accusingly. While Tre stood up, Jen had stood up as well, but had gotten away from the couch, so Tre couldn't sit on her again. "Who? Innocent ol' me?" Jen said, giving him puppy dog eyes. Then Tre asked, "How come I can't stay here and join you guys in your sleepover? I love sleepovers!" he then pouted, like a little kid that didn't get the toy he wanted. "You can stay... If you have an invitation" Jen said, winking at Billie Joe so he knew she had things taken care of. "Well, uh, um... No. I don't" Tre said, a little down heartedly. "Aww, that's too bad Tre. How about next time?" Jen said leading him to the door. "Okay" Tre said brightly as he left. "HASTA LAVISTA BABY!" he yelled through the door as he ran to his car, hopped in, and drove away. Jen turned around to find Billie looking at her. "Wow. That was seamless" as he wrapped his arm around her waist. Yeah, I know. Thanks" she replied, smiling warmly at him. "Hey Jen, do you want to go out? Like explore around town some?" Billie asked, hopefully. "Sure. That sounds great" was Jen's reply. "Great. Okay, i'll need you to put this bandanna on..." he said, tying it so she couldn't see. "How am I supposed to see?" Jen said, questioning this idea now. "Just follow the sound of my voice... Or else just hold on to my hand, i'll lead you" he said, grasping her hand and holding it tightly. He then led her to his car, and when they were both in, he pulled out f the driveway and drove down the street.

"Are we there yet? It seems like we've been driving forever" Jen said, a little tired of driving. "Almost. We'll be there soon" he said. They drove for a few more minutes when Billie said," Okay, we're here" as he pulled into the parking lot. They parked, and Jen followed Billie, wondering where they were. "Where are we?" she could barely stand the curiosity anymore. "You'll see soon enough" he replied calmly, his voice showing a tinge of excitement.

"Hi. How can I help you?" a young lady at the counter said. Or, at least Jen thought it was a counter. "Uh, two please" Billie said, trying to keep their location a secret as long as possible. He then led her away from the young lady, put something in her hand and then he said," Okay, you can take the bandanna off now." Jen untied it and pulled it away from her face. "I didn't expect this" she smiled at Billie Joe, as she looked to see she was holding a mini golf club.

Yep. Billie Joe had taken Jen to a mini golf and arcade center. They were now playing mini golf. Sometimes Billie Joe would do better, and sometimes Jen would do better. When they made it to the last hole, Billie said, "I bet you'll get a hole in one." Smiling, she responded, "Yeah, I will... Eventually." She then concentrated on the hole, hit the ball, and watched it skid across the fake grass. "WINNER! WINNER! WINNER!" the machine said, as sirens blared and lights flashed. "Hey! You did it. And you were doubting yurself" Billie said, hugging her. "Yeah, maybe I should turn pro" she joked, and Billie chuckled. Billie then hit his ball, but it missed the hole and dissappeared somewhere. "Oh, well. Maybe next time" he said, with false dissapointment.

After that, they turned in their golf clubs and went to the arcade, playing all the games that interested them. They also went inside one of those photo booths where you take cheesy pictures. They split the pictures so they both had some. They stayed there until the arcade had to close. Then they drove back to Billie's house, talking about whatever.

When they got back, Billie said," Do you want to watch a horror movie?" "Okay. Sounds like fun" Jen answered, sitting down on the couch. Billie put the movie in, kinda hoping she would get scared, so he could comfort her. Yep, you guessed it. Jen wasn't in the least bit scared. She laughed through half the movie. She soon stopped laughing to find Billie Joe looking at her. "Oh, i'm sorry... Am I scaring you?" she asked. Brilliant, Jen. You scared him with your freakish ways. "No, you're not scaring me. I didn't realize I was staring at you. She blushed at this, not knowing what to say. "I asked for a good, scary, horror movie and they gave me this crap" Billie said, pointing at the TV. "It's not that bad... Well, maybe it is," she said, agreeing with Billie. They continued to watch the movie, but during the movie Jen fell asleep. When the movie was over, Billie took the movie out and put it in its case. Then he picked Jen up and carried her upstairs to his bed, where he placed her under the sheets. He noticed how peaceful she looked, how relaxed. He placed a kiss on her lips, then left her and went downstairs and pulled out his guitar to absent-mindedly play, thinking about all that had happened since he had met Jen. Soon he concentrated all his attention to what he was playing, which was random chords at the moment. It was a peaceful moment for him, just sitting against the wall, enjoying the music he was creating.

Billie Joe woke up the next morning, finding that he had fallen asleep playing his guitar, which was still strapped around him. He stood up, stretching, and walked into the kitchen, wondering if Jen was awake. He soon found that out, because he heard her voice coming from his back porch. "Yeah. I know... I told you, I drove to Berkeley to enjoy a few days of my frickin fall break. Gosh! Are you mad? Do you need to go to the special home for special people? THEN STOP FRICKIN SWEARING AT ME!... You know, I can't wait till I graduate college. Then I can go wherever the fuck I please." She then hung up on whoever she was talking to, and turned off her cellphone, so she wouldn't hear it if it rang again. "Who was that?" Billie asked, a little concerned. "You sounded pissed." "Oh, Billie... How much did you hear?" Jen asked, sadness spreading across her usually smiling face. She was holding back tears, Billie could tell. "Enough to be worried" he responded, hugging her tight. "It was my dad. He was asking where I was. So I told him I was in Berkeley, enjoying a few days of my break. Then he started to swear and yell at me... He never used to be like that. He was always so nice before..." she couldn't hold back her tears anymore. She started crying into Billie Joe's shoulder, causing his shirt to get wet. "Before what?" Billie asked, now knowing it must be really bad. "Before... Before my mom died... Of cancer" Jen managed to say, before she began to cry again. Billie now understood her tears. He had experienced the same excrutiating pain when his dad had died. "I probably shouldn't be crying... I was seven when it happened... I should be over it by now" she said, tears running down her face. "My dad died of cancer too. Just because they are gone doesn't mean we can't ever think about or remember them" Billie said, a single tear running down his face. Jen then pulled away from the hug, smiling weakly at Billie Joe. "Thanks Billie... For everything you have done or me" she gathered all her things and asked Billie for a ride. He said sure, holding her hand out to the car, and would have held it all the way back to San Fransisco if he didn't have to drive.

When they got to Jen's street, they both got out. "Billie... Thanks again. You really helped me alot" Jen said, smiling after they had exchanged phone numbers. Billie then kissed her, sliding his toungue between his lips and into her mouth, while she did the same. He then said," anytime." Billie then got back inside his car and drove away. Jen watched him drive away until she couldn't see him anymore. Then she turned around, sighed, and headed home.
