The Guy at the Bus Stop, chapter 4
Jen continued to walk towards her house, thinking of how eventful the past three days had been. She walked into her house then, quiet as possible, trying to get passed her dad. Too late. There he was, standing in her way, arms crossed over his chest. "Uh... Hi dad" Jen said, putting on a fake smile while trying to get past her dad and into her room, where she could lock the door. "Hold it, Jen. You're not going anywhere until you tell me exactly what you did and where you stayed. And if you lie, you'll be sorry" he glared down at her, his eyes piercing and burning as Jen stopped moving. "I told you on the phone. I was staying at my friend Billie-" she stopped. She had almost said Billie Joe. "Well?" her dad pressed. "Billie what?" "Billienda. Uh, yeah. She has kinda an unusual name. Her parents weren't all there" Jen said, pointing to her head. "I think they wanted a boy." I hope this is working, Jen thought, as she crossed her fingers discreetly. "Mmhmm. So what did you girls do while you were there?" he questioned, searching her for any signs that she was showing if she were lying. No signs. "Aww come on dad, just girl stuff. You wouldn't be interested" she squeezed by him, and continued to walk down the hall, and into her room, or her Sanctum Sanctorum, if you wanna call it that. Jen breathed a sigh of relief. "That was close" she whispered as she locked her door, then fell on to her bed.

Billie walked in the door to find his answering machine blinking. He walked over to it, and then pressed a button. "Hi, Billie. It's Jen. Uhm, if a man calls you asking for your name, say that this is your sister Billienda's house and your staying for a little while to visit. I miss you already. Call me." The message ended, with Billie Joe smiling to himself. She sure knows how to lie, he thought, sitting down on the couch and turning on the t. V. Soon there was a knock on the door and it was Mike and Krystal. "Hey Billie. We decided we'd just hang out with you for awhile" Mike said, smiling. "Did Jen leave?" asked Krystal, who came in after Mike. "Yeah. She had to go home" answered Billie, suddenly realizing that he would be lonely again. "Why couldn't she stay any longer? Didn't she have 2 weeks of break?" Mike asked. "Yeah. But when I woke up this morning she was talking on the phone to her dad, and he was really pissed. So she went home" Billie Joe said, sitting back down in front of the tv, this time with Mike and Krystal.

Jen woke up, and found it dark outside. She looked over at her clock. 8:53pm. I must've fallen asleep, she thought, as she got up and walked to her bathroom. Her cat followed her into the bathroom, finding this amusing. "Are you lonely too?" Jen asked, as she scooped her cat into her arms. It purred, enjoying the attention. Jen sighed and thought about what she could do tomorrow. Since she didn't really have any friends yet, she didn't have anyone to call or hang out with tomorrow. She then walked out of the bathroom and into the kitchen, grabbing a bowl of cereal and eating it. Her dad was nowhere in sight. "Probably going to another show", she said to herself. "Wow. He's never here, is he?" she asked her cat, who was begging for some milk. She gave her some and then continued eating the rest of her cereal. When that was done, she mindlessly turned on the tv and zoned out, when her phone rang, snapping her back into reality. Jen quickly answered it. "Hello?" she said, hoping it was Billie Joe. "Hi, i'm looking for a Jen. Is she available?" Billie said. "Oh no she's not. You just missed her" Jen said jokingly, as she heard Billie chuckling to himself. "Well, that's too bad" he answered, and Jen could hear the smile in his voice. "But if she was here, I'd tell her hi and that I miss her" continued Billie Joe. "I miss you too, Billie" Jen responded, suddenly wishing he could be there with her. "I wish you were here" she blurted out before she could stop herself. "Same here. My apartment feels so empty without you." "Has Tre been asking you for my phone number?" Jen asked, curious about her love sick friend. "Of course. Every day. He has good taste in women, at least in my opinion" Billie said. "It's too bad. I feel sorry for him" Jen said, wishing that Tre would get a girlfriend. "Yeah. I feel sorry for him too"Billie said. Silence then came over them. "Would you like to see us play? I'd be honored if you were there to see us play" Billie Joe said, hope in his voice. "Of course i'll come! I'd love to hear you guys. I'm sure by then my dad will have forgotten agout Billienda." Billie laughed at Jen's last remark. "Well, I have to go now. I have to go to work tomorrow" Jen said. "Oh. Okay. Talk to you soon. Bye." Billie then hung up the phone, sad that he couldn't talk to her longer. At least i'll see her at our concert, he thought, going back to finishing the new song he had written and playing it on his guitar.

During the next two weeks, Billie Joe and Jen had called each other, back and forth. The phone calls helped them both to not be so lonely as they would have been if they didn't call each other. Soon, the day of Green Day's concert came, which found Jen about to leave for Berkeley. Her dad wasn't there(probably fishing, drinking... ) so she was able to leave without any hassle from him.
Billie Joe was sitting with his guitar over his lap, debating on calling Jen. Did she remember? Yes, she will remember... You reminded her yesterday, remember?
"What?" Billie Joe asked. "I said, we have to go out there soon." It was Mike, looking out for him, as usual. "Oh. Thanks Mike" Billie smiled up at his taller friend. "It's okay. She'll be here" Mike also commented, knowing what Billie was thinking about.
Jen arrived at the concert before the big crowd had come. Billie said that more and more people had been coming to their concerts. She was wearing a pair of old, worn out jeans and a plain black shirt, with her converses, of course. Then she saw them: Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre. Her heart leaped at the sight of Billie Joe. They soon began to play, and the crowd responded, happy that the music had started.
Before they played their last song, Billie Joe said," This song was written for Jen"
Jen was shocked. Billie Joe smiled at her, and then they continued to play and sing: We're living in a repetition/ content in the same old shtick again/now the routine's turning to contemption/like a production line going/ over and over ans over roller coaster/ now I cannot speak/lost my voice/ speechless and redundant/cause I love you's not enough/i'm lost for words/...
