Forever Green, chapter 4
Glad to see you guys came back in, Steph said as the 3 boys entered from the back door. Yeah it was getting chilly, Mike said sarcastically. Sure it was, chilly on a 40 degree day?, Steph replied using the same tone. So ahh Tina Flemings coming by tonight?, Mike asked. Mike its alright, I already set it up, Steph told him. You did?, he asked tilting his head. Yeah come on. Its so noticeable, the way you look at her with those puppy in love eyes’, Steph laughed. Mike went red and walked into the lounge with Tre following him. Puppy dog eyes, Tre laughed.
Billie went straight for the fridge again. He needed water. Any fluid. Billie you alright?, Steph asked. Ahh yeah, wheres the water?, he asked. The sink, she joked. Nah it should be on the door. Found it he said. He took it over to the sink and poured a glass out. He caught all the extra water into his hand and rubbed it on the back of his neck. You, sure nothings bothering you?, Steph asked, standing next to him. Yeah, I'm fine. You staying here tonight, he asked her. Yeah. There is no way I'm going to some party and having drunk people, follow me everywhere telling me that they love me but cant even tell who I am, Steph replied. Billie smiled and walked into the lounge to sit with the boys. The door bell rings..
Tina, Sarah how are you two?, Steph said as she opened the door. Hugs and small talk was exchanged once the two girls came in. Mike was starting to shift in his seat. Sarah went and sat down next to Tre. He was smiling. This was good. He was actually becoming happier. Ahh Tina can you come into the kitchen with me?, Steph asked. Sure, but don't you want your sister?, she asked. Nah its alright you'll be fine, I told her, she walked into the kitchen and waited. Steph grabbed Mikes hand and walked him down the hallway. Mike listen. Tina, she likes you, just she's to nervous to say it. So, I want you to ask her. Steph told him in one breath. Steph I cant, you know how I get about this, Mike replied. Mike, just go, She told him as she pushed him into the kitchen and closed the door. Steph walked back into the lounge. Tre and Sarah were getting closer. Sarah was lapping up the attention Tre was giving her, but he looked a little hesitant. I looked at them for a moment, trying not to make it obvious, but Tre caught on and was looking at me from the corner of his eye. Tre what's wrong?, Sarah asked looking into his eyes. He broke the stare by looking down to the ground. Nothing I'm just a little tired, he mumbled. Steph went over and sat next to Billie. So you going to the formal?. He asked her. I dont know. I dont have anyone to go with, She replied You going?. Ahh probably not. Same reason, he said. What about that girl you we're talking to me about before?, Steph reminded him. Oh her, I don't know, maybe not, he said quietly looking up at Steph. Alright then. Geez Mike and Tina are sure quiet, Steph said. A few moments later, Tina and Mike walked out of the kitchen. There was a glossy look all over Mike's face. Sarah, maybe we should get going, Tina said. Yeah its getting dark. See you later beautiful, she said before giving Tre a hug and walking to the door. Steph followed. Steph you know, you can always come stay with us. You dont have to be here by yourself, Sarah said. Nah its fine. I like it, Steph said. The two sisters gave each-other hugs and Tina did as well. See you guys tomorrow at school, Tina yelled out before the two girls left.
Steph walked back into the lounge. So Mikey, whats this I see on you?, She asked curiously. Nothing just. Its lip gloss aint it?, She asked. Mikey went quiet. Steph smiled and sat down on the couch between Mike and Billie. Tre turned the set on and the 4 friends started watching telly. Slowly each one of them started to fall asleep.
*-BRING-* Good morning listeners, this is Matt and Jo coming to you live from Sydney park this morning.
Oh god, Mike sad getting up from the couch. He looked around him. The others were still asleep. He leaned over and gently shook Steph to wake her up. What, no 5 more minutes, Steph mumbled. Steph it's a Monday, school today. Come on wake up Billie, he ordered. What about Tre?, she asked. Nah leave him asleep for a while, he gets ready in like less than 20 minutes and it will be nice to have some quite around here, He replied before getting up and walking to the bathroom. Steph leaned over and looked at Billie for a moment. He looked like an angel sleeping. It was like, he was perfect, like nothing could bother him. She moved closer to him, and lifted her arm so she could wake him. He just lay there. Probably just in a deep sleep. She shook him again. And again. And again. This was weird, she'd been trying to wake him for at least 10 minutes.I'm awake already you know, he said opening one eye up. Shit, Billie you scared me, She said. What's the time?, He asked. Steph looked up at the clock. Quarter past 7, she told him. He breathed out heavily. You don't mind if I use the shower do you?, he asked. Nah, go ahead, just walked down to the end bathroom. Mike's in the first one, she told him. Billie got himself up and walked down to the bathroom. Steph heard the door, shut behind him.
Tre wake up, Steph said sitting alone. Tre, get up Tre turned in he's sleep. Tre wake up I swear, I'm not dragging you to school today. The started mumbling, Don't leave, just stay. Steph rolled her eyes. She grabbed a pillow from the couch and threw it at him. He remained still. Don't leave. Don't go. Just stay here with me. Tre are you alright?, Steph asked. He didn't reply. She got up and walked over to him. She shook him slowly. Tre wake up. She put both of her hands on his shoulders and shook him again. Tre I'm being serious. Get up. Steph shook him harder. All of a sudden Tre lifted his arms and wrapped them around Stephs waist pulling her in. She fought back, but as she did they lost balance and landed on the ground. Tre above Steph.
