Forever Green, chapter 5
Mike I swear, nothing was happening, Steph reassured him. We were just mucking around. Sure you two. Steph the showers free, if you want it now, he told her. Yeah I might, Oh Tre, Billies in the other bathroom so you might have to wait, Steph said before getting up and going into her bedroom to get a new change set and then heading to the bathroom.
So you gonna tell me what just happened?, Mike asked Tre. Nothing, she was just trying to wake me up and well we lost balance, he replied shyly. Sure mate, just be careful of what you do around her. She thinks your in-love with her sister. Don't give her the wrong idea, Mike told. Mike, no way come-on. Steph's totally into Billie. I wouldn't do that. Do what?, Billie asked. Mate I thought you were in the shower, Tre said. Nah just got out. Well I guess I'll be going then, Tre said before walking out of the room to end the convocation quickly. What was that about?, Billie asked. Don't worry mate trust me, Mike said before walking into the kitchen to get breakfast.
After 45 minutes the 4 of them were ready for school. The grabbed there bags and once Steph made sure the door was locked they started walking. Mike and Tre walked ahead and Steph and Billie trailed behind. You sure you wanna be at school, after whats happened?, Billie asked. Yeah I'm sure. You going to your place after school to see your mom?, Steph asked him. Yeah I might. I'll see you at the hall before we go home then, he said. The school bell rang- I'll see you later then&, Steph said. Yeah you will, Billie replied, before turning and giving Steph a hug without thinking. They stood at the bottom of the steps for a while in each-others arms. *He's so sweet* Steph thought to herself. *If only I had enough courage to tell her* Billie wondered. They slowly released each-other and went their separate ways. Mike and Billie walked down to the science room, while Tre and Steph headed over to the Gym. Bill that was sweet, Mike said as they walked together. You saw it?, Billie asked shocked. Yeah, just everyone outside did, Mike replied to him. Yeah, I knew that, Billie alleged.
School seemed to last longer that day. Steph and Tre spent the whole day together since they had no classes with Mike or Billie. They were inseparable. The walked together, talked together, did their work together, ate together and even had their arms around each other. *Billie wont mind. He hasn't even told Steph he has feelings for her* Tre thought. *OMG what if Billie sees me. He'll never trust me again* Steph told herself. Ah Tre, maybe we should like not walk like this, I'm getting weird stares from everyone, Steph said. Tre took her arm from around her waist and dropped it at his side. Steph put her books into her other arm and held his hang while they were walking. I thought you said they were giving you looks?, Tre said. Yeah but they cant see this. And I'm sorta trying to, ahh, Steph cut herself off. Your trying to what?, Tre asked. Nothing don't worry, Steph said as they continued walking over to the hall. Are you sure Billie told you to meet him here?, Tre asked. Yeah pretty sure, Steph said. Tre was unconvinced. He stopped walking and pulled Steph back. Tre whats wrong?, Steph asked. You don't mind that I'm going to the formal with your sister do you?, he said. No way you two are a cute couple. Its fine with me, Steph reassured him. He started to stare up into the sky. Tre come on, we're going to be late, for the guys, She said pulling him along with her. Finally after a few minutes they had gotten to the gym, and as she was told Mike and Billie were waiting for them. Take your time, Billie said as he picked up his bag and walked over. What are you talking about? You said meet you here when school ends, Steph shot at him. He rolled his eyes and started walking. Whats wrong with him Mike?, Tre and Steph asked. I don't know, he's been like that for most of the day, he told them, before they too started to follow him. They kept their distance for a while before they came to Billie's place. I'll see you two at home?, Steph asked Tre and Mike. Yeah, they replied as Steph walked though the gate and after Billie.
Billie and Steph stood at the door. Billie rang the bell and the two waited for a moment. A woman answered the door. Darling, nice to see you, she said as she lent over and gave Billie a hug. Hello sweetie, she said as she turned and gave Steph a hug as well. The house was quiet. Too quiet. Billie stepped in and walked to his room. Ahhh, Mrs Armstrong is everything alright?, Steph asked. Well sweetie I wish I could say everything was, she told the young girl. Are you going to be alright?, Steph asked. Oh of course, now come in. I want to talk to you and Billie about something, Mrs Armstrong replied, before leading Steph into the house.
