A Story of Mike and His Incredible Pants., chapter 6

"So, what do you do for a living?" Tracy asked him as they sat at a table in the corner of the room. Tracy grabbed a drink from one of the passing trays and took a long sip from it. She set it down on a napkin so a ring wouldn't be left on the table.

"Nothing much now, my band broke up a few years ago, one of the members dissappeared. Long story."

"You made it sound short to me," She responded, taking another sip from her drink. Mike smiled up at her.

"You've got a nice sense of humor on you." She flushed, tucking some hair that had fallen in her face behind her ear.

"Thank you, I'm sure you do too."

"Now who is this lovely lady?" they looked up to see Billie standing over them.

"Oh! Hey, Billie, this is Tracy. Tracy, this is Billie Joe." He gestured between the two and Billie held out his hand, and Tracy shook it.

"Have we met before?" Billie asked, leaning in to get a better look at Mike's aquaintance.

"No, not that I know of, but possibly. You can never trust your memory." She tells him. Billie looks at her curiously, but shakes it off. Billie walks over to Mike's side and whispers in his ear.

"You keep a good eyes on her, she's seeming like a feisty one." Mike smiles brightly and nods. Billie bids his goodbyes and leaves them alone to talk with each other.

"He's an interesting guy..." Tracy commented, watching Billie Joe mingle into the crowd.

"Yeah, he's been my best friend since grade school, he's an awesome guy. But anyway, uhm... Since you asked me what I do, what do you do?"

"Good question." she said, taking another long sip from her now nearly empty glass of alcoholic beverage. "Well, ... It's hard to explain. I moved a while ago, traveled around for a while. Eh... It's hard to say. I was kind of in the music busniess myself. I love music, it's always been the thing I wanted to do with my life. I got into it and it was wonderful."

"And what happened?"

"Nothing, just... Things came around and I got out of there is all. No big." she waved for the tray to be passed to her again and grabbed another glass. Mike wasn't even half done with his own. He had been so drawn to this amazing woman.

"Uhm... And if you don't want to answer, that's fine, but er.. why did that guy hurt you earlier? I know that must have been embarrassing..."

"Oh, it was! But he was a real jerk off anyways."

"So... Why'd he do it?" she looked up at him, eyes brighter than they were before, straight face.

"He was a jerk," She said firmly. "It's more of a personal thing, I'm still trying to cope with it."

"Oh ... alright." Mike got another drink. He really liked this woman. She looked about his age. She seemed so firmiliar though, like Billie had said. Like they had met before.
