Penguins in the Caribbean, chapter 23
Zafera was so nervous about the play. It was about to begin and people were rushing about. Peeking through the curtain she saw hundreds of smiling faces, mostly parents of the people in the play, she almost threw up.
"Nervous?" she jumped. She didn't realize Billie walking up beside her.
"Just a bit."
"Um.. Zafera I have something to tell you." there was a long silence. "Ithi-"
"I have to go now." she blurted out before he could say any more.
Everything was going smoothly. It was time for the last scene in the play where Zafera and Mike have to kiss and so on. Billie was trying to keep his mind focused on the lighting.
"What is with you today? You seem stressed."
"Nothing wrong.. I think." the curtain closed for the two minutes for everyone to get ready for the finishing act. It was time for Billie to tell her.
"Zafera... I need to tell you something." Billie wispered into Zafera's ear. He grabbed her arm and lead her into the dressing rooms. "Um.. I don't know how to tell you this but.. I-I love you." he looked into her eyes a bit nervous as to what she was going to say. She smiled and as she opened her mouth to reply the teacher walked in.
"Hurry up! We need you on stage pronto!" he pushed Zafera out the door she looked back at Billie he looked at her with pleading eyes. She tried to make her way back to him but with no luck.
Billie went back to the lighting area where Tre was waiting. "What the hell? Where'd you go?" he just looked at Tre for a few seconds then looked at Zafera through the glass window. She looked so pretty.
"Nothing... Listen do you mind if I leave you alone?"
"Sure man.. But don't leave for to long after the bullshit play is done we gotta go to a gig... Remember." Billie stopped in the door way. He had forgotten about that.
He walked into Gilman's most people greeted him, although he didn't really want to talk to people at the moment, all he was thinking about was how Zafera was reacting to what he told her.
"Tre where is Billie?" she ran into the lighting room a bit out of breathe. He looked up from pealing his bannana. "And why do you have a bannana.. You know what don't answer that."
"Um... I don't remember... He said he was leaving... Oh in a few minutes me and Mike are going to Gilman-"
"Tre I don't have time to go pary with you! I need to find Billie!"
"But-" it was to late she was already gone. She ran out of the school. Everything was all a blur. She just wanted to find Billie. Why was everything so... Uughh.. Before she could finish her thoughts she ran into a pole. It was turning out to be avery crap day for her.
"Hey Tre! Where is Zafera?" Billie waved to Tre.
"Um.. Well... She was looking for you but before I let her know about you meeting up here.. She ran off... She seemed kinda upset.." Tre scratched his head then got distracted by some girl drooling infront of Billie. Billie had pushed her out of the way and continued.
"Shit. Um... Could you try and find her?"
"I don't think I need to." He pointed to Mike closely followed by Zafera. She was nervous but excited at the same time. She caught Billie's eye for a second before they were, again, consumed by the crowd.
"Hey you guys are up.. Get the hell onstage." the bar tender told Tre.
"Thanks." Tre grabbed Billie's arm and lead him backstage.
Mike had disapeared into the crowd so Zafera made her way to the bar. She wanted to see Billie really bad! Then he apeared on the stage Tre ran around then sat on his drum stool.. Thing. Mike danced. And Billie just leapt around.
They preformed a few songs that Zafera had read in Billie note book and some that she hadn't. "Okay... This one is called '2000 light years away... Okay" Billie had informed everyone before starting the first cords. Zafera's ear perked up, she had been watching Billie the whole time. She smiled more when he had finally saw her in the drowd.
He was trying to search the crowd for Zafera with no luck until the final song. She was smiled which hopefully meant something good. After the preformance they ran off stage. Mike disapeared so Tre and Billie were left alone in the little room backstage with some pot and a coach. "I gotta go for awhile." with that Billie left the room. He walked out the back door and lit his ciggarette... The door opened but he wasn't paying attention. Then two arms wraped around his neck "Hey." it sounded just like Zafera but when he spun around he was face to face with a completely different person.
"Who are you?" he asked. She had long blonde hair, to much make up and smelt like burnt rubber.. Although that was probably because of the weed she was most likely smoking.
"Lola."
"Right well," he tried pushing her off but she was at that point trying to remove his pants. "What the hell? Get off me you bitch!" he pushed her off and she stormed in the building.
Zafera was making her way to the exit where Tre had derected her to go when someone came in. The girl had stopped "Be careful about they guy out there... He's such a jackass! Ughh!" she didn't want to know what the girl was talking about.
Zafera walked out welcomed with the cool air. Billie was lighting a smoke." Hi.." he turned around.
"Listen Zafera you don't have to say you like me back just be-" he was cut of by Zafera's lips pressed against his. There kisses became more passionate by the second. Finally Zafera looked at Billie. Billie looked at her. They feel silent for a moment."
"Billie... I do love you." Billie felt like he could run around the whole town leaping and screaming he was so happy. He kissed her again."... I wanna go home now." she laughed.
"Okay." he smiled. They walked home hand in hand.
