Wake Me Up When This Nightmare Ends, chapter 2
We heard the fire truck coming closer to my house. I still couldn't believe all this would happen to me. I sat on the bonnet of my car, crying. Mike and Tre tried to cheer me up but nothing would work.
I couldn't bare to look at the burning house. When the fire fighters had finished their job, I looked at what I used to live in, all I could see was black. It looked like someone had flattened my house with a huge rolling pin and poured petrol all over it. "I'm finished. I'm totally ruined." I said. Mike and Tre looked at each other and couldn't think of anything to say. I felt like I wanted to commit suicide. Mike told the police everything that happened. I didn't say anything, I didn't want to.
"Come on Billie, you're going to stay at my place for a while." said Mike. I nodded and wipped a tear from my eye. We got into my car, and this time Mike was going to drive. We got to Mike's house and Sarah was waiting outside. Somehow she had received the news about Billie Joe. She ran up to us looking really worried. She was about to say something but then realised she should just leave me alone.
We got inside and I sat down on the sofa, shaking. Tre sat next to me while Mike went to the kitchen to get me a glass of water. Mike came back and handed me the glass of water. "Where's Sarah?" he asked. That was weird. Sarah didn't follow us inside. Tre went to the window and had a look outside. The sky was grey, it looked like it was about to rain. The houses in the street looked empty. All the street lights were off. There wasn't a car in sight, not even a person. Everything outside was still. "That's not normal." said Tre. "This street is usually full of people." "What?" asked Mike. He opened the front door and we all looked outside. "No shit." said Mike. I was so confused.
Suddenly I heard a voice. It sounded like Sarah. "Did you guys hear that?" I asked. "What?" said Tre.
"That voice."
"What voice?"
I heard Sarah's voice again.
"THAT voice."
"Huh?" said Tre.
Mike looked at us, confused. "OK, maybe you can hear something that Tre and I can't hear." said Mike. "But, I swear I heard Sarah's voice." I replied. "SARAH?" shouted Mike. But no one replied. Then I heard another voice, this time it wasn't Sarah, it was Adrienne.
