As We Continue to Fall, chapter 1
She turned to watch the concert. Every time 16-year-old Sam watched the opening act to a Green Day concert she got chills up her spine. Sam was a blonde, it was the kind of blonde that you usually saw on little girls but hers had stayed that color and it was soft as silk; her eyes were a mocha color that night but every other day they were a sexy hazel.
"Isn't this great Jay? Our first concert together!" She screamed in her boyfriend's ear, they had been going out for a few months and she had finally convinced him to come to a Green Day concert with her. Jay was tall a few inches taller than Sam was, his eyes were sparkling blue and he had steel blonde hair.
"Yeah, babe this is gonna be great." He said in a sarcastic tone. Jay liked classical music but liked Sam so much that he decided to try this one thing with her. He hugged her shoulders and kissed her nose "I hope I'm not disappointed... You've talked them up so much you'd think they were Mozart himself." He smiled at her beautiful eyes, she knew what he expected that night and if he was let down then she would pay. Without thinking Sam touched her cheek, which was covered in make-up to hide the mark Jay had put on her for telling him that she wouldn't sleep with a stoned guy.
"Come on, I told you they're great, you'll love them!" She wasn't so sure; they were so different than what he was used to. As the warm up band finished Sam screamed with the crowd, Jay watched with distaste. After minutes of waiting for something, anything to happen, a man came out on stage.
"I know that you all came here to see Green Day..." He was cut off by millions of screaming fans until they quieted again "But we're sorry to inform you that they were unable to make it tonight. It seems that Billie Joe's son is very sick. They won't be playing again until he's well again, you'll all be refunded at the door." The man ran off the stage as hundreds of moshers surged threw the guards towards him.
Oh no, Billie's son, sick? Sam shuddered as she felt a look of disdain on her neck from Jay. A cold, firm hand touched her shoulder and tightened, Sam swallowed nervously.
"I'll get the money you go to the car." It was an order. Sam was left in her seat shaking, this was huge she had dragged him away from his comfort zone to come see a concert that didn't happen, what would happen? She had told him no and he had slapped her, if she ran from him he might kill her. Like a zombie she got out of her chair and headed to his car. She buckled herself into the back seat to wait for him.
It was an hour later before Jay returned to the car, he was stumbling and when he got in he smelled of vodka. He started the engine and started driving away before he spoke. "Sam, how dare you drag me away from my house and my drugs to come see this shit. I ought to slap you silly, and now I'm drunk off my @$$. You are the reason that when I go back to Alcoholic's Anonymous I can't say 'Hi my name is Jay S. And I've been sober for two months... ' What will my mom say, she'll say that I'm a loser and always will be... It's all your fault Sam!" Jay's speech was slurred and he was swerving on the rode. Sam gripped the door tighter than she had been before.
"I'm gonna kill you Sam, I can't go back to jail so I'll do it the old fashioned way... I'm sorry that I was driving drunk she told me to, its not my fault she's dead..." He laughed coldly. Sam's life began to flash before her eyes, he had been so nice to her when she'd met him half a year ago, that was when he had just been drinking now to stay sober he got high almost every night. He was so violent over the last two months that Sam had had to lock herself in the bathroom whenever he was high or buzzed. He had started to beat her for little things and now this, she was going to die.
"Please Jay, I'll never do it again just pull over!" Sam screamed as he switched into the left lane, the traffic was going in the opposite direction. Jay swerved in and out of the lane to avoid cars. He was screaming in laughter, he sounded so harsh. Sam grabbed the wheel; they were off the road and into the wilderness. She sat back and screamed as a mighty oak showed up in the windshield.
They hit head on, Jay flew through the window and landed in a clearing, Sam hit her head on the seat in front of her before her seat belt snapped and she was thrown on to the hood. She lay screaming into the dark for someone to come, she couldn't move, it hurt everywhere. In her side vision she saw Jay stand up and come towards her.
"Hey Sam, wild night stop screaming okay?" He was the old Jay again, before he took out the duck tape. All Sam had was a second before a strip was on her mouth and Jay was pummeling her already broken body. Before she blacked out Jay fell to the ground as red and blue flashing lights filled the clearing. 'I'm saved, ' Sam thought before she was lost in a sea of darkness.
