Don't Leave Me, chapter 18
It was about 8 PM. Billie Joe pushed the front door open with his foot. He stepped aside to let an extremely exhausted Natalie into their house. Billie Joe had their new baby boy, which they decided to name Sean, in his arms. Natalie was holding Lizzie, their new baby girl. Both had fallen into a peaceful sleep during the car ride home.
Billie Joe gave Natalie a warm smile as she walked past him to the bottom of the stairs.
"I'm so happy to be home," Natalie wispered to him while slowly making her way up the stairs. He was right behind her.
"Me too," He wispered back.
Natalie opened the door to the nursery and walked to the crib with the light pink sheets. She gently lowered Lizzie onto the soft cushioned bed. She bent down, kissed the baby's forehead and pulled up the safety fence thing. When she turned around, she saw that Billie Joe had done the same thing with Sean.
"They are so beautiful," Natalie said quietly, more to herself then to Billie Joe. He put his arm around her frail body and pressed his lips to her temple.
"Like you," He wispered in her ear.
She smiled weakly at him and yawned. She had stayed at the hospital for two days after the birth just so that the doctors could make sure she and the babies were ok. She had not gotten the best sleep while there. She couldn't stop thinking about Lizzie and Sean when they weren't with her. But finally she felt more relaxed in the comfort of her own home.
When Billie Joe and Natalie made sure that the infants were alright there, they left the room and quietly closed the door behind them.
"You look like you're about to colapse," Billie Joe commented.
"I feel that way too."
"You should go get some sleep," He said all the while leading her to their bedroom.
Natalie nodded and sulked down onto the bed. She was asleep not long after her head hit the pillow.
Billie Joe stood over her body and smiled to himself. He leaned down and softly kissed her cheek. He closed the door behind him and headed down the stairs.
Billie Joe had been doing little things around the house when he heard a baby's soft cry come from upstairs. He immediatly stopped what he was doing and ran upstairs. He wanted to get to them before Natalie woke up.
He opened the door and quickly ran to Lizzie's crib. She was the one who was crying. But you all know what happens when there are two sleeping babies in one room. If one starts to cry, the other one will wake up and start to cry too. So while Billie Joe was franticly trying to comfort both babies so they would stop crying, Natalie stepped into the room.
"Shit," Billie Joe said under his breath.
"It's ok," Natalie said and took Sean from his arms.
"Shhh," She cooed softly to the bawling infant. She sat down in the rocking chair situated next to the changing table.
Natalie was shocked at how much he looked like his father already. She couldn't really believe it.
After Natalie successfully got Sean to close his eyes and fall asleep, she placed him back in his crib. Billie Joe was doing everything in his power to at least get Lizzie to stop crying. He even tryed making insane faces to make her laugh.
"You're not good at this," Natalie joked. She carefully lifted the baby from his grasp.
"One, I don't have the mother jean. And two, I am an entertainer! I am not supposed to be good at making people...or babies, fall asleep!" He said.
"True," Natalie smiled at the father of her children.
And she then set herself to work on trying to persuade Sean to close his eyes and go to sleep.
After that was done, Natalie and Billie Joe walked out of the room for the second time that night.
"That was harder then I thought," Billie Joe said pretending to wipe sweat of his forehead. Natalie nodded.
