Don't Leave Me, chapter 19
It was now the middle of October and so much was happening in the lives of all three rock stars.
Green Day's new album, the follow-up for American Idiot, was to be released late November.
The first couple of months of parenthood had been both challanging and joyous for Natalie and Billie Joe. Natalie's parents were even in the process of planning a trip down to California to see their new grandchildren.
And Maggie and Mike had even gotton engaged in the course of the month.
So things were very...hectic.
As always.
"Bye hon," Billie Joe said to Natalie and gave her a quick kiss. "I'll see you later." He was leaving to go to a meeting at Adeline.
"Bye," She watched him close the front door behind him.
Natalie turned to Maggie who decided to come over to help her with the twins.
"What's the meeting about?" Maggie asked.
"They might be signing a new band to the label," Natalie replied with a sigh.
"Is something wrong, Nat?"
"No. I'm just really freaking tired," She was desperatly trying to keep her eyes open. Maggie didn't say anything.
"Sean and Liz keep me up half the night. Billie Joe is tired as hell too, he is just better at not showing it I guess..." She rambled.
"Nat, go upstairs and lay down. I'll watch the twins," Maggie offered. Natalie thought for a second.
"I can't do that to you," She shook her head. "They'll make you crazy."
This time it was Maggie's turn to shake her head.
"No they won't. They are cute as fuck. I think I'll manage," She smiled at her.
Natalie looked over at her two little infants. Lizzie was sleeping and Sean was smiling innocently at his mother.
"Thank you so much," Natalie said, obviously relieved.
"It's no problem."
Natalie took one last look at the babies. She smiled and made her way upstairs and into her bedroom.
***
Natalie opened her eyes. She could smell something cooking.
'Billie Joe should be home,' She thought to herself after stealing a glance at the clock next to her bed. It was 6 pm.
When she walked into the kitchen she saw Billie Joe cooking dinner.
"Hey baby," She wrapped her arms around his waist from behind and rested her head against his back.
"Good moring, sleepy," He joked. Natalie smiled.
"Where are the twins...and Maggie?" She asked, her arms still situated around his abdomin.
"Maggie went home after I got back," He answered. "And Sean and Lizzie are upstairs in the nursery. Sleeping...I hope."
"Oh," Natalie remembered. "Did you guys deside to sign that new band to the label?"
"Yes." He smiled.
"That's great!"
Billie Joe stopped cooking for a second and turned around to face his girlfriend. He placed his hand on the back of her neck and pulled her head closer to his. Their faces were only centimeters apart.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" He asked, his hand still behind her neck. Natalie laughed softly.
"I bet I love you more," She teased. Before Billie Joe could respond, Natalie placed her lips against his. The kiss was getting more and more fervent but then the phone rang. Natalie pulled away from Billie Joe and smiled at him before answering it.
"Hello..."
"Hi sweety." The voice replied
"Oh, hey mom."
"I called to tell you that me and your father will be catching a plane this Saturday to go see you," She said with excitment in her voice. Natalie's eyes widened. Billie Joe gave her a questioning look.
It was Thursday. Only two days untill they would be there.
"Uh...ok." Natalie responded.
"Is that ok?" Her mother asked. Natalie nodded her head.
"Yeah. Of course that's ok."
Her mom told her what airport they would be arriving at and what time their plane landed before Natalie hung up.
"What did she say?" Billie Joe asked her.
"They are arriving here on Saturday," Natalie gave him a worried look.
"Oh. Wow," He said, running a hand through his hair.
Then they heard a baby's cry come from upstairs.
"I'll go. You stay here and cook dinner," Natalie pointed to the stove. Billie Joe saluted and turned his attention to making the food.
When Natalie got upstairs she opened the nursery door and quickly picked up Sean who was the baby that was crying. She admired his outfit that her and Billie had gotten for him. It was a black baby body suit and in white it said "Ramones". Lizzie had the same one except her's was pink.
She cradled the baby and followed the usual routine: get him to stop crying and feed him.
After both babies were sleeping, Natalie went back downstairs and into the kitchen. Dinner was on the table but Billie Joe wasn't there. She walked past the table and into the living room. He wasn't in there either. When she turned around, Billie Joe was right behind her with his hands hidden behind his back. Natalie yelped and jumped back.
"Holy shit. You scared me," She said.
"Sorry, babe," He said.
"It's ok," She tilted her head to the side a little and folded her arms. "What's behind your back?"
"I got you a present when I was out today," He smiled at her.
"How sweet of you!"
He pulled the huge bouquet of flowers from behind him. Natalie gasped.
"They're so beautiful! Thank you, hon," She said and kissed his cheek. She took the flowers from him and brought them into the kitchen.
They were all different types of flowers. All were either white, black, or red.
Natalie pulled out a vase from one of the cabinets and filled it with water. She carefully put them into it and placed it neatly on the kitchen table.
"Actually," She took the flowers off of the table and headed upstairs. "I know a better place to put them."
Billie Joe followed her. She walked into their bedroom and then into the ajoining bathroom.
She put them on the ledge of the hot tub.
"I think they look good in here," Natalie said and turned to look at Billie Joe. He nodded and smiled evilly.
"I feel like taking a bath now," He said seductivly.
"What about that tasty looking dinner you made?"
"I'm not so hungry right now," He replied a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. "Not for food anyway..."
Natalie started to fill up the tub. She adjusted the water to a nice, hot temperature and turned around to face Billie Joe. She advanced towards him and put her arms around his body.
He pressed his lips against her collarbone and worked his way up to her mouth. All the while, they were both undressing eachother.
Natalie slowly lowered herself into the steaming water with Billie Joe not far behind.
***
It was early Saturday afternoon. Billie Joe and Natalie were walking through the airport parking lot. The plane that Natalie's parents were on was supposed to have landed about 30 minutes earlier. They were running a little late but they didnt think that would be to much of a problem. The babies were back at the house beeing watched by Mike and Maggie.
The couple were waiting at the arrival's gate when Billie Joe felt a tap on his soilder.
"Oh, my god. Are you like Billie Joe Armstrong?!" It was a girl with blonde hair. She looked to be about 16 years old.
Billie Joe forced a smile and nodded, "Mhm."
"Oh, my god! Can you like sign this?" The girl asked, holding out a pink compact mirror that she dug out of her bag. Natalie already felt bad for Billie Joe. This girl looked and acted like a fucking barbie!
Billie Joe had a confused look on his face while taking the mirror and the black permanent marker in her hand. He quickly signed it and gave it back to her.
"Has anyone ever told you how sexy you are?" She said in a seductive voice. Natalie felt rage start to flow over her. The girl started twirling her hair around her finger in a flirty way. Natalie gave her a 'you-are-so-pathetic' look.
"Yep. Bye," Billie Joe said quickly and grabbed Natalie's hand. They walked quickly to the other side of the arrival's gate.
"I fucking hate people like that," Billie Joe said through gritted teeth. Natalie was too trying to control her anger. Then she started laughing suddenly.
"What is it?" Billie Joe asked her smiling at how she could laugh so easily.
"She gave you a mirror to sign," Natalie said starting to laugh a little harder. Billie Joe was also laughing after thinking about it for a second.
"What's so funny?" A strong demanding voice made Natalie and Billie Joe stop laughing and turn around abruptly.
"Dad!" Natalie said happily and ran into her father's open arms. He chuckled.
"I haven't seen you in quite a while," He said, still embrassed in his daughter's hug.
"I know," She replied. Then Natalie's mother walked over to them.
"Hey mom," Natalie pulled away from her father and gave her mom a hug.
"Hello sweety."
When Natalie stepped away from her mother and father, they looked at Billie Joe.
"And you must be the Billie Joe that I have heard so much about," Her father said and stuck out a hand to him. Billie Joe smiled and shook it.
"Nice to meet you," He said.
When everyone was aquianted with eachother they left the airport and drove home.
