A Pair of Star Crossed Lovers, chapter 4
Juliet and Adrienne drove in complete silence. Convincing Billie Joe not to call the police had taken almost twenty minutes; the whole situation had just freaked him out.
Juliet didn't know what to say to Adrienne, she hadn't seen her sister in twelve years.
"So", Adrienne broke the silence. "You probably have a lot of questions."
Juliet pushed down on the brakes causing the car to screech to a halt.
"I thought you were fucking dead Adrienne," Juliet yelled tears streaming down her face. "Everyone thinks your dead."
"Juliet, I am so sorry, I never meant to hurt you I swear.", She reached across the seat and put her arm around Juliet. "I had to disappear, I had no other choice."
"But you could have a least told me that you were leaving you could have done something." Juliet sobbed into her hands. "Instead I wake up one morning and your gone... YOU DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING CALL ADRIENE!"
Adrienne felt a lump in her throat and could feel tears start to roll down her face.
"Juliet... Please you don't understand," Adrienne cried. "You're my little sister and I love you, I would never purposely cause you this much pain."
"Does your husband know who you are?", Juliet asked.
"Wh..what?", The question surprised Adrienne.
"Does your husband Billie Joe know that you are a Montague?", Juliet restated.
"No, he doesn't," Adrienne looked down. "He thinks I'm brown eyed, brown haired Adrienne Nesser from Minneapolis."
"You looked better with blue eyes." Juliet said wiping the tears from her eyes. "Are they contacts."
"What these", Adrienne said pointing to her brown eyes. "Yeah, they're a pain in the ass too."
Adrienne Flipped down the car mirror and proceeded to take the contacts out. When she turned back to Juliet her eyes had become a beautiful light blue.
"You know that's one of the reasons I didn't notice you right away", Juliet said . "You look different with brown hair and brown eyes; you definitely don't look like a Montague."
"Well that was that's the whole reason I did it", Adrienne said tears rising up again. "I didn't want anyone to notice me."
"Why", Juliet asked looking at hers sister. "Why did you have to do all this."
Adrienne took a deep breathe then turned to hers sister.
"It happened when I was 18. We were suppose to kill Sampson, you know that Capulet. It was Mercutio, Benvolio and I. We got to his home late at night when everyone was asleep. I remember breaking into his house and going into his bedroom and it was him and his wife. Mercutio fired the first shot which killed Sampson. Of course this caused his wife to wake and Benvolio told me to kill her. So I pulled out my gun and fired two shots which killed her instantly. We hadn't noticed that while all of this was going on their eight year old daughter had come into the room to see what was going on. She saw me kill her mother, Juliet. She watched as I pulled the trigger and she saw her mother take her last breathe of air before she died in a pool of her own blood, and... and." Adrienne stuttered as she started to cry. "The little girl looks up at me with these little tear stained eyes and says one word that will haunt me to the day I die. She looks up at me and she whispers 'Why?'. I just ran Juliet, I ran out of the house got into my car and drove away. And for moths after that I couldn't live with the lifestyle of our family anymore. I didn't want to be apart of it. I didn't want to kill another soul and ruin another family. So that's why I left, and I miss everyone and there wasn't a moment that didn't go by when I wasn't wondering how my sister was. I know I am a coward for running, but I was so confused, I was only eighteen."
Juliet sat there and stared at her sister. She was completely lost for words.
"I didn't know", Juliet began before she fell silent again.
Adrienne turned to her sister and hugged her tightly.
"I missed you so much", Adrienne sniffled. "I swear I will make it up to you."
The two women sat in the car for a few more minutes before they started to drive.
It was starting to get light when they returned to the Belagio. Adrienne told Juliet to come up to their room. When Adrienne opened up the door to the hotel room Billie Joe was sitting on the couch; large dark circled around his eyes from not sleeping.
"Billie," Adrienne said running over to him.
"Are you okay", Billie said concern in his voice.
"I'm fine, I'm fine", Adrienne reassured him. "Billie this... .this is my sister", She said pointing at Juliet. "Billie this is Juliet Rose Montague and Juliet this is my husband Billie Joe Armstrong."
"Wh..what", Billie said looking confused. "I never knew you had a sister."
"Billie you might want to sit down", Adrienne said pointing to the couch. "There's a lot of stuff you don't know about me."
