There Goes His Minnesota Girl, chapter 12
We met up with a guy called Bob Dallo I think it was. No no it was Rob Cavallo.
I was so nervous meeting him. As nervous as I was when I met Operation Ivy.
He looked friendly. He shook our hands but I had to blurt out.
"Were gonna be a great band no matter what Reprise does for us!" I quickly said.
Great! He probably thinks I'm arrogant now! I sat down and thought I will leave the talking to Mike and Tre but I started having a panic attack and getting worked up over everything and panicking. Rob was nice about it though. Most people laugh at me and call me a retard and don't even think for a second I have a problem.
He asked to see some of my songs. I handed him a book of them. My scrap book. I got butterflys in my stomach then. He's gonna laugh. That stuffs really personal. I have only ever shown all of the songs to Adie. I know she won't laugh or think they're stupid. He started smirking. I scowled. What!
"Billie these are great. Dominated love slave is amusing." He said. We all turned to Tre.
"That would be my masterpeace!" Tre said going bright red.
"Ow so you all got your own charactors! I love that in a band!" Rob laughed.
"Yeah I'm the stupid, dorky, funny one." I laughed.
"I'm the sexy, fuckable class clown... If we were in some kinda class!" Tre joked.
"And I'm the one that keeps em all in line. The babysitter!" Mike laughed
Three days later we had totally forgot about the interview thing. We got the record deal. Adie called everyone over.
At the party all our family came. Mine, Tre's, and Mike's but no one from Gilman street.
I had invited them all. Everyone of them and not 1 showed up! I heard I knock at the door. It was Matt. 1 person from Gilman.
"Thought I should tell you no one is coming to your party." He said.
"Why not! You washing your mohicans!" I laughed looking at his ridiculous hair style.
"When people get big all the punks get mad! Sorry!" He walked of leaving behind a play list at Gilman. We were supposed to be playing there soon. We were crossed of the list and instead of us it was als new band called Sobrante.
This was so unfair. I was still in shock! I thought they would be happy for me!
My friends! They were my... Friends!
I started welling up with tears.
I thought to myself what my dad used to say when I cried when I was younger the time I fell of my bike. Big boys don't cry! I smiled to myself. I wondered what he would want me to do. Carry on! I was quite happy to keep playing at Gilman but I wasn't welcome there anymore. I don't want to be famous. I hate celebrities! I started understanding why they hated it so much!
How we would all have long chats and bitch about them.
Adie appeared. She had heard what had happened.
"Adie I don't know if I wanna be famous! I'm scared it will turn me into some big headed jock." I said.
"Never!" She said in a heros voice that made me laugh.
"Operation Ivy inspire you right!" I nodded." Because they love playing music to people and not for money... RIGHT!" I nodded once again.
"So let them be your insparation. One day Joey will be grown up. Or about 10 anyways. He might inspire to be like his daddy. Kids will want to be like you. You could change their lifes one day. Your songs could make some troubled kids stop slitting there wrists or doing drugs. Or instead of staying out late on street corners they're learning how to play guitar like THE Billie Joe armstrong." She said.
"Girls would hate me cause I'm going out with you! God I'd love that!" She laughed.
She kissed me and walked away. Maybe I do gotta do this! For troubled kids.
For peoples future. I sound like a super hero!
